The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 1852: Chapter 1852: Harboring Malice

Die Dong launched another attack on the Divine Rune Tree.

Seeing Die Dong’s actions, Ye Hai frowned and looked at Jing Yan. At this moment, Jing Yan’s entire body was trapped in the terrifying vine. Without assistance, it seemed difficult to break free.

After Die Dong attacked the Divine Rune Tree again, the frightening vine still firmly bound Jing Yan, showing no reaction to Die Dong’s attack on the Divine Rune Tree.

”Void Son, if we don’t help Lord Jing Yan, I’m afraid he won’t be able to escape,” Ye Hai said again.

”I’ve already said, deal with the Divine Rune Tree first. I hired you here, not to stand around watching,” Die Dong said, eyes full of killing intent as he glanced at Ye Hai.

Ye Hai’s body trembled, and he continued to attack the Divine Rune Tree.

He wanted to save Jing Yan, but with his abilities, he couldn’t do it. Moreover, if he didn’t follow Die Dong’s command to attack the Divine Rune Tree, Die Dong might kill him.

The Divine Rune Tree, originally on the verge of collapse, finally shattered under their continuous bombardment. The entirely purple treasure inside was fully exposed to Die Dong.

Die Dong beckoned, taking the purple object into his hand.

”This...”

”Is this... could this be the Biqing Purple Violet?” Die Dong’s voice trembled slightly.

The completely purple treasure appeared like a purple egg, about the size of an adult’s head. However, it was not an egg but belonged to a type of plant life.

Biqing Purple Violet.

This item is famed in the Endless Chaos, holding immense value. Die Dong had seen Biqing Purple Violet in the Void Divine Hall’s Treasure Vault and heard from high-level figures there that one Biqing Purple Violet is worth at least a million Star Stones, yet it cannot be bought even if one has the money. Often, even with sufficient Star Stones, purchase is difficult.

It is said that some strong individuals, if they urgently need Biqing Purple Violet, will bid much higher, possibly raising the price to two million Star Stones.

Due to its preciousness, Die Dong’s voice trembled upon realizing he held a Biqing Purple Violet.

”Made a fortune!”

”Struck it big! Coming to the Ancient Tree Elder Ruins was the right choice,” Die Dong laughed ecstatically.

The treasures obtained in the Ancient Tree Elder Ruins by Die Dong together could likely exceed two million Star Stones. This amount is undoubtedly astonishing, and even some veteran All Things Realm experts might not have two million Star Stones in total assets.

”Time is almost up; soon, we’ll be transported out,” Die Dong said as he put away the Biqing Purple Violet, his eyes narrowing.

”Void Son, look quickly: Lord Jing Yan seems to be in danger,” Ye Hai, who was always observing Jing Yan trapped by the vine, said.

At this moment, he saw something appearing in the space like a giant eyeball, and the terrifying vine was dragging Jing Yan into the giant eyeball.

Indeed, this was the case.

Jing Yan also felt that the vine entangling him was trying to drag him into the eyeball-like entity. He resisted with all his strength but couldn’t compete with the vine; he was slowly being pulled.

”Damn it!”

”Why does this damned thing only target me?” Jing Yan felt helpless.

He had merely taken a slaughter mission, seeking to earn some Slaughter Points. Moreover, entering these Ancient Tree Elder Ruins should have been safe. Yet unexpectedly, he encountered the terrifying vine, which specifically targeted him while ignoring Ye Hai and Die Dong.

”Indeed, it seems dangerous,” Die Dong also glanced at Jing Yan.

”Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, don’t worry, I’ll help you,” Die Dong said, his lips twitching slightly, speaking to Jing Yan bound by the vine.

Immediately, his figure flickered, approaching Jing Yan. Then, a strange weapon in his hand emitted a halo containing terrifying power.

”Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, I’ll cut this vine. If the vine shows any sign of loosening, you must escape immediately,” Die Dong said as he made his move, shouting to Jing Yan.

”Thank you very much, Daoist Die Dong,” Jing Yan responded.

With Die Dong’s assistance, he should be able to escape the vine.

”Hmm?”

”You...” Jing Yan let out an angry roar.

Because Die Dong’s attack this time not only hit the vine but completely enveloped Jing Yan as well.

”Crash!” Jing Yan had to divert some power to defend against Die Dong’s strike.

In doing so, his power against the vine weakened suddenly. The vine jolted, instantly pulling Jing Yan into the eyeball. As Jing Yan entered the eyeball, both the vine and the eyeball vanished. The surroundings returned to calm, leaving only Die Dong and Ye Hai.

Ye Hai’s mouth gaped.

He saw the scene unfold clearly at the last moment. He realized that Die Dong seemed not to truly intend to rescue Jing Yan. Without Die Dong’s strike, Lord Jing Yan might not have escaped the vine easily, but he could have held on a bit longer. Due to Die Dong’s strike, Lord Jing Yan was pulled into the mysterious eyeball in an instant.

What is Void Son Die Dong thinking? It seems he did it deliberately; did he intend to kill Lord Jing Yan?

Might he kill me too?

Ye Hai began to panic, feeling a chill in his limbs. With Die Dong’s power to kill him, he surely couldn’t resist or flee.

Die Dong seemed to see through Ye Hai’s thoughts.

”Ye Hai, you saw it too; it’s not that I didn’t save Jing Yan, but I was powerless. I intervened but couldn’t stop that vine plant life,” Die Dong explained.

Ye Hai remained silent.

”There’s nothing to be done. None of us expected to encounter a terrifying plant life suddenly. Jing Yan being captured is probably ill-fated. That plant life seems fierce; it’s best we leave here before it eats Jing Yan because it might appear again and attack the two of us,” Die Dong added.

Ye Hai, still silent. By now, he was almost sure Die Dong did it on purpose, not accidentally. Die Dong claimed to help Lord Jing Yan but in truth harmed him.

”Ye Hai, once we’re out, don’t speak carelessly. Also, the Slaughter Points reward from the mission will be substantial. Jing Yan died, so you get all thirty thousand Slaughter Points,” Die Dong threatened quietly.

”Void Son, but...” Ye Hai felt guilty.

He admitted he wasn’t incredibly virtuous but definitely not evil enough to sacrifice a team member for more rewards.

”No buts. Jing Yan’s fate was unfortunate; the vine attacked him, not a decision made by you or me,” Die Dong said, his tone chilly.
