The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 1829: Chapter 1829: Intelligence Discrepancy

This Devouring Sky Clan creature’s strength is not very strong.

Jing Yan judged from its aura that it was much weaker than Mo Ye Hong, who had entered the home universe; indeed, it was only at the ordinary One-step Dao Method Realm level.

Of course, the Devouring Sky Clan beings have extremely strong outbursts; even at the One-step Dao Method Realm, they can completely rival or even counter other races’ Second-step Dao Method Realm beings. The Devouring Sky Clan’s weakness lies in their lack of endurance. Previously, Duanmu Supreme and others hoped to wear Mo Ye Hong down over time, but Mo Ye Hong was too powerful. If Jing Yan hadn’t arrived, many of Duanmu’s people might have suffered casualties.

The Great Dao ripples in the space layered upon the Devouring Sky Clan creature. Gu Mie, who was at the Third-step Daoist Realm, had formidable strength. Under his influence, the Void Shuttling of this Devouring Sky Clan creature was ineffective.

”Dammit!”

”You damned bastards, I’m Pu Lu, don’t think I fear you!” The Devouring Sky Clan creature, seeing no escape, turned to roar.

The Devouring Sky Clan creature was generally humanoid but massive in stature, with horns on its head and a body black as ink.

Ordinary Devouring Sky Clan creatures cannot change shape at will, but it is said that those at the All Things Realm level can transform into ordinary human forms. However, their aura is also hard to conceal, and even when transformed, they are easily recognized.

”Kill!” Gu Mie struck again.

Jin Kun and Liu Sha, both at the Second-step Daoist Realm, immediately unleashed their Great Dao to attack Pu Lu.

Besieged by a Third-step Daoist Realm and two Second-step Daoist Realms, this Devouring Sky Clan creature, Pu Lu, did not last long.

In the sound of an unwilling howl, Pu Lu’s enormous body fell.

When Pu Lu was slain, Jing Yan kept his attention focused.

”That’s right! Not every Devouring Sky Clan creature, when killed, releases divine soul energy. I was lucky to gain divine soul energy from defeating Mo Ye Hong,” Jing Yan thought to himself.

Mo Ye Hong’s divine soul energy made Jing Yan’s divine soul body stronger by a tenth. If he could absorb more, Jing Yan might soon enter the Daoist Realm.

”Haha, mission accomplished! This slaughter mission was really easy. Going back, we’ll receive the reward points. I wonder how many points we’ll get this time,” Jin Kun happily laughed.

Gu Mie and Liu Sha also had smiles on their faces.

Though the rewards for a One Ring Task were slight, if each mission could be as easy as this, it was a delight.

”Jing Yan, you deserve a lot of credit for how quickly we completed this mission,” Gu Mie looked at Jing Yan.

He was stating a fact.

If Jing Yan hadn’t tracked the Devouring Sky creatures, it would have taken them much longer to find Pu Lu. Furthermore, the Devouring Sky creatures are cunning; if they detect Slaughterers they can’t fight, there’s a good chance they would void shuttle and leave the continent. Without killing this Pu Lu, the mission would not be complete, and they would receive no rewards upon returning to the Slaughter God Hall.

It was for this reason that Gu Mie spoke warmly to Jing Yan.

”The task reward is based on personal performance. Tracking this Pu Lu was mainly your achievement, Jing Yan. The Slaughter God Hall will clearly recognize this. You might get more points than me,” Gu Mie continued, noticing Jing Yan furrowing his brows, thinking he was worried about the rewards.

”I’m not really concerned about the reward points. What I care about is that there should be other Devouring Sky creatures on this continent. Our mission isn’t complete yet,” Jing Yan shook his head and said.

”How is that possible?”

”The Slaughter God Hall’s intelligence stated that there was only one Devouring Sky creature here,” Gu Mie frowned.

”Feel it carefully; is the material energy of this continent still decreasing?” Jing Yan suggested.

Upon hearing Jing Yan, Gu Mie and the others subconsciously expanded their divine soul sensing.

Upon sensing, their faces grew grim. Jing Yan was right; the material energy of this continent was still decreasing. Pu Lu was already killed; his corpse was right beside them, no longer consuming materials. But now, with the continent’s material energy still decreasing, one explanation remained... there were other Devouring Sky creatures in this continent region.

”Indeed!”

”Seems the intelligence was erroneous; the task information isn’t accurate. Damn, this is an official mission!” Gu Mie said in anger.

For an official mission, errors in intelligence are uncommon. It’s in private missions that intelligence errors occur more frequently. Gu Mie, having completed dozens of official missions, had only experienced intelligence errors once before; this was the second time the information was inaccurate.

”Seems the difficulty of the task has increased, meaning we will receive higher rewards. Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, we still need your help in tracking other Devouring Sky creatures,” Liu Sha looked at Jing Yan and said.

”Tracking the Devouring Sky Clan is no issue. However, everyone should be cautious. I have a feeling there are Devouring Sky Clan creatures on this continent far stronger than Pu Lu. Although Pu Lu has been slain, the rate of material energy decrease hasn’t slowed much,” Jing Yan said.

Gu Mie and the others exchanged glances. Jing Yan’s assertion was correct. The rate of material energy reduction was nearly the same as what they’d previously sensed.

”Could this mission be upgraded to a Second Ring Task? For a Second Ring five-person task, at least three Second Ring Chaos Slaughterers would be needed to complete it, right?” Jin Kun’s face also became grim.

If the mission upgraded to a Second Ring, they would be in danger. Even Gu Mie would be at risk.

”Let’s see what happens first!” Gu Mie said thoughtfully.

...

Meanwhile, in another area of this mini continent.

A black light halo softly shimmered. The black light halo exuded a rich sense of evil.

Within the black light, a figure ceased to devour material energy. Blood-red eyes stared forward.

”Pu Lu is dead?”

”Looks like the Chaos Slayers might have arrived. Haha, I’ve been waiting for them!” An eerie voice emanated from the figure.

This was also a Devouring Sky Clan creature.

He stood within the black light, which was emitted by a treasure he possessed. This treasure serves to block detection, causing the Slaughter God Hall’s intelligence to err. Their reconnaissance failed to discover the region covered by the black light.

”Good, very good! I, Ju E, haven’t tasted Chaos Slayers for a long time. This time, I hope to feast on several,” Ju E’s blood-red eyes shifted to a corner on the side.

”Don’t eat me!”

”Please don’t eat me, I don’t want to die!”

”Damn Devouring Sky Clan! The great Slaughter God Hall will not spare you!” A chaotic chorus emanated from that corner.
