The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 806: Chapter 806 Divine Skills Aura

Several days later, a figure clad in a dark gold robe quietly descended upon the Holy City.

Saint Master Shen Chong had been waiting outside the Holy Palace early on.

”Greetings to the Guardian!” Shen Chong bowed deeply, his expression one of excitement.

He had served as the Holy Master of the Heavenly Origin Continent for over a thousand years. This was only the second time he had met the Guardian.

The first time he saw the Guardian was when he had just taken over the position of Holy Master.

The control of the Holy Palace needed to be personally transferred by the Guardian. The Holy Palace, this Holy Artifact, was actually brought forth by the Guardian. The purpose, of course, was to ensure that the Holy Master would not let the various forces of the continent overthrow him.

Whenever a Holy Master’s lifespan neared its end, they had to hand back the control of the Holy Palace.

”You need not be so formal, Saint Master Shen Chong!” the Guardian waved his hand, ”Is Fellow Daoist Jing Yan within the Holy City?”

The Guardian already knew of the death of Gu Luoshui and the emergence of a new Saint Realm Martial Artist on the Heavenly Origin Continent named Jing Yan.

The Guardian was quite curious about Jing Yan.

”Hall Master Jing Yan is still in the Holy City, I have already sent him a message, he should be coming from his residence shortly,” Shen Chong replied.

”Mhm,” the Guardian nodded.

”Guardian, please enter the Holy Palace,” Shen Chong stepped aside to invite the Guardian in.

The two ascended the Holy Peak, entered the Holy Palace, and waited inside the Holy Hall.

Before long, Jing Yan arrived at the Holy Hall.

”Hall Master Jing Yan, this is the Guardian,” said Shen Chong, rising to his feet and introducing the Guardian to Jing Yan as he entered.

”Guardian!” Jing Yan sized up the Guardian naturally.

This Guardian was tall and burly, with a square face and thick eyebrows, exuding a commanding aura.

”Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, there is no need for formalities, we are equals on the Saint Path,” said the Guardian, ”My name is Chen Long.”

”Fellow Daoist Jing Yan is truly young. When Saint Master Shen Chong messaged me that you are only in your forties, I was somewhat incredulous. Now I see, it was my own ignominy,” Guardian Chen Long said with narrowing eyes.

”You flatter me, Guardian,” Jing Yan quickly bowed in response.

Chen Long gestured dismissively, ”There is no need for modesty, Fellow Daoist Jing Yan. I have resided in this world for over five thousand years, and you are the youngest Saint Realm Martial Artist I have ever seen.”

”Even before the Divine Battle, I have never heard of a Saint Realm Martial Artist in their forties. Not even within the Divine Race has there been such a young Saint Realm Martial Artist. Moreover, the current world is no longer like the one before the Divine Battle; the world has collapsed, the Laws are incomplete, and the difficulty of achieving the Saint Path is tremendous!” Chen Long continued to stare at Jing Yan.

”I just got lucky,” Jing Yan didn’t know how to respond.

”Haha...”

”Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, I assume Saint Master Shen Chong has already informed you of the purpose of my visit? By the rules, now that you have become a Saint Realm Martial Artist, you must leave the Heavenly Origin Continent. If there is no problem, then you will accompany me back to the Sky Sacred Hall,” said Chen Long, returning to the main topic.

Previously with the emergence of Gu Luoshui, Chen Long had rushed from the Sky Sacred Hall to the Heavenly Origin Continent. On his journey, he received a message from Shen Chong stating that Gu Luoshui had died, and a new Saint Realm Martial Artist had emerged.

Hearing Chen Long’s words, Jing Yan’s brows furrowed ever so slightly.

Leave the Heavenly Origin Continent now?

He still had some matters to deal with; he couldn’t leave the Heavenly Origin Continent just yet. As for going to the Sky Sacred Hall, that was even more out of the question; he still had to rescue his mother from the Despair Abyss, and to find Zhou Shangyun’s daughter, Bai Xue.

”Guardian, I am aware of the rule, as Saint Master Shen Chong has informed me. But, I can’t leave the Heavenly Origin Continent just yet. There are still many things here that I cannot let go of,” Jing Yan said.

”Oh?” Chen Long’s brows also knitted together.

”Guardian, I need some time, I earnestly request that the Guardian give me some time,” Jing Yan continued.

”How much time do you need?” Chen Long’s voice became stern.

”Three years?” Jing Yan tentatively suggested a number.

”Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, you must understand, rules are rules. Once established, they must be observed by everyone. If you break them, and if he breaks them, then what is the point of having rules? I am responsible for ensuring that everyone in this world abides by these rules, and you are asking me to make an exception for you. Do you think that’s appropriate?” Chen Long’s gaze intensified, a sharp light pressing down on Jing Yan.

Jing Yan met Chen Long’s gaze with equal firmness.

The atmosphere between them became tense.

The Great Hall fell into silence.

Shen Chong stood by the side, his brow furrowed with anxiety, but in such a setting, it seemed there was no room for him, the Holy Master, to speak. This was a conversation between Saint Realm powerhouses.

Moreover, he did not know how to intervene, whether to speak on behalf of Jing Yan or to persuade Jing Yan to comply with the rule.

”Well then!” Chen Long spoke again.

”Fellow Daoist Jing Yan, since you have proposed a condition, I will respect your intentions. However, to agree to your condition, you must show me that you are worthy!” Chen Long said with a smile.

A look of confusion flashed across Jing Yan’s eyes.

”Strike me with your full strength. If I deem your power sufficient, then I will consider your condition,” Chen Long said, looking at Jing Yan.

Chen Long was curious about Jing Yan’s combat power.

After all, even though Gu Luoshui was quite average among the Saint Realm Martial Artists, he had been in the Saint Realm for thousands of years, and yet Jing Yan, who had just stepped into the Saint Realm, was able to slay him.

Chen Long wanted to see for himself what Jing Yan’s combat capabilities were.

”Shall we go outside?” asked Jing Yan.

”No need, right here is fine. Strike me with all your might. Saint Master Shen Chong, use the power of the Holy Palace to protect yourself,” Chen Long first addressed Jing Yan, then turned to Shen Chong.

”Yes!” Shen Chong dared not be careless.

A move from a Saint Realm Martial Artist was not something he could take lightly. Even if he were not the direct target, just the residual power required him to be cautious.

Immediately, Shen Chong activated the power of the Holy Palace to protect his entire body.

The Holy Palace itself was a Holy Artifact, so there was no need to worry that Jing Yan’s attack would destroy the Holy Palace.

”Guardian, be careful!” Jing Yan’s words had barely left his lips when he struck with his sword.

The Power of Laws surged, and black Sword Light infused with Sword Intent swept towards the Guardian Chen Long.

Seeing the black Sword Light coming his way, Chen Long stretched out his palm, and a Palm Seal emerged, striking towards the black Sword Light.

”Indeed, he seems to possess formidable combat power!” Chen Long thought to himself.

”No wonder he was able to kill Gu Luoshui. The use of the Power of Laws is very proficient, and the amount of Laws he can invoke is also not insubstantial,” Chen Long analyzed Jing Yan’s combat power with a casual expression.

”Eh?”

”No, this is...”

”What’s going on? Why is there a whiff of Divine Skills in this Sword Light?” Chen Long’s previously relaxed expression suddenly changed.
