Chapter 597: Chapter 597 Problems with the Pill Tower

Jing Yan left the City Lord Mansion and didn’t go directly back to the Jing Family, but first went to the Splendid Pill Tower in Donglin City.

The Splendid Pill Tower in Donglin City, to be honest, had a considerable reputation in Lanqu County, but it was limited to Lanqu County. Compared to the previously mentioned Jade Building, the disparity was quite substantial, or in other words, they were not even comparable.

However, Jing Yan had a rather special affection for the Splendid Pill Tower. He had personally created this Pill Tower, and the number of Spirit Stones it earned him annually was not the most important thing.

Shortly afterward, Jing Yan arrived at the Splendid Pill Tower located within the North District Market.

There weren’t many changes to the Pill Tower since the last time Jing Yan left; it was still a five-layer building. The main entrance to the Pill Tower was bustling with people coming and going, and the business seemed quite good.

Jing Yan smiled and stepped into the Pill Tower.

”Welcome to the Splendid Pill Tower!”

As soon as he entered, he heard the clear and pleasant welcome.

Two rows of over ten young and beautiful female warriors stood neatly, all wearing smiles.

Jing Yan also nodded slightly at them.

Then he glanced over; the main products on the first layer’s counters were various kinds of medicine. Behind every counter, there were young and beautiful female sales clerks interacting with the customers.

”Indeed impressive!” Jing Yan was very satisfied in his heart.

On the second layer of the Splendid Pill Tower, various Elixir Pills were sold. The quality of the Elixir Pills from the Splendid Pill Tower in Donglin City was undeniable; otherwise, it would not have such a big reputation within Lanqu County.

The second layer sold low-level Elixir Pills.

Jing Yan briefly strolled around the second layer, and noticed that the number of people buying Elixir Pills on the second layer was much fewer than those buying medicine on the first layer. However, most of the martial artists who came to the second layer were from the Innate Realm, and many of them were adventurers, so their purchasing power was relatively strong.

Following that, Jing Yan prepared to go up to the third layer.

”Please stop, guest!” Just as he reached the staircase, Jing Yan was stopped by two people.

Judging by their attire, they should be guards of the Pill Tower.

”Can’t I go up?” Jing Yan asked with a smile.

”The third layer of the Splendid Pill Tower sells Intermediate Elixir Pills. Those who wish to go to the third layer need to show a VIP Token,” the guard said, stopping Jing Yan but still with a polite tone.

”VIP Token?” Jing Yan was slightly stunned.

He certainly didn’t have a VIP Token; when he last left, the Splendid Pill Tower didn’t have any such thing as a VIP Token.

”Correct! Only guests with a VIP Token can go up to the third floor,” the guard affirmed with a nod.

”I don’t have a VIP Token!” Jing Yan shook his head, ”But, could you please call Su Zixuan for me?”

Upon hearing Jing Yan’s words, the two guards were slightly stunned.

”You know our Chief Manager?” one guard asked, looking at Jing Yan with some surprise.

Su Zixuan was the Chief Manager of the Splendid Pill Tower.

Su Zixuan was also one of the longest-serving members of the Splendid Pill Tower. When Jing Yan first established the Splendid Pill Tower, Su Zixuan was one of the first people he hired, specially recruited from Donglin First Building. Su Zixuan had always been grateful to Jing Yan, so she dedicated all her energy to managing the Splendid Pill Tower.

She was also Jing Chenxing’s most capable assistant. Now that Jing Chenxing had gone to Pill Country, Su Zixuan was evidently the acting person in charge of the Splendid Pill Tower in Donglin City.

”Lord Jing Yan?”

Before the guard could speak, a voice sounded from behind Jing Yan. He turned around and saw a woman in a yellow long dress.

Jing Yan looked the woman over for a moment, then recognized her. This woman was also an old-timer at the Pill Tower; Jing Yan remembered that her initial job was just as an ordinary sales clerk.

Back then, she was still quite naïve; now, she seemed much more mature and composed.

”Lord Jing Yan, is it really you?” The woman in yellow had initially only seen Jing Yan’s back, so she was somewhat unsure. Seeing Jing Yan turn around and seeing his face, she suddenly became excited and quickly approached him.

The two guards were once again stunned.

The two of them didn’t recognize Jing Yan, but they knew the name. That name was a legend in Donglin City. Naturally, it was also the true owner of the Splendid Pill Tower.

Of course, they had not expected that this very young-looking martial artist before them was the legendary Jing Yan.

”It seems you’ve been promoted!” Jing Yan said with a smile to the woman in yellow.

”Lord Jing Yan, you still recognize me?” The woman in yellow became even more excited, her breath slightly heavy.

”Of course I recognize you; how could I forget someone I’ve met? Besides, you’re so beautiful.” Jing Yan said, waving his hand with a smile.

The woman in yellow’s face immediately flushed.

”I’m just doing what I should be doing. It’s mainly because Jing Chenxing, the Chief Manager, and sister Su Zixuan are kind-hearted. Seeing that I’ve been working in the Pill Tower for a long time and have more experience, they promoted me to be a manager. However, I probably won’t be a manager soon!” The woman in yellow suddenly said somewhat dejectedly.

”What’s the matter? Did you make a mistake?” Jing Yan asked curiously.

”Not really!” The woman in yellow shook her head, ”It’s just that... well, I can’t really explain it. Lord Jing Yan, do you want to see sister Zixuan? She should be in a meeting right now.”

Jing Yan’s expression darkened.

Could there be some problem with the Pill Tower? Although the woman in yellow didn’t say much, Jing Yan still sensed that there might be some issues with the management layer. Otherwise, why would the woman in yellow, who was doing well, say that she would soon no longer be a manager?

Jing Yan furrowed his brows but did not inquire further. After all, everything would be clear once he met Su Zixuan.

”Lord Jing Yan, shall I take you to the meeting room on the fourth floor?” The woman in yellow continued.

”No need, I’m very familiar with the Pill Tower; I can go up by myself,” Jing Yan said with another smile to the woman in yellow.

”Oh!” The woman in yellow pursed her lips.

As Jing Yan went up to the third floor, the guards naturally did not dare to stop him again; they bowed and watched as Jing Yan disappeared up the stairs.

”Housekeeper Yue, that person just now... was it really Lord Jing Yan? The owner of our Splendid Pill Tower?” After Jing Yan left, the two guards, now speaking in hushed voices, looked at the woman in yellow and asked.

”Of course! You’ve been at the Pill Tower for only a short while, and Lord Jing Yan hasn’t come back for several years, so you don’t recognize him,” the woman in yellow said with a light laugh.

”That’s really great!”

”Yes, it’s good that Lord Jing Yan has come back! Lord Jing Yan must think highly of manager Zixuan, right? Now that Lord Jing Yan has returned, can they still drive manager Zixuan away?” the guard said excitedly.

Manager Su Zixuan was highly respected within the Pill Tower. She was kind to everyone and had no airs about her, and whenever the staff encountered any issue, as long as they sought Su Zixuan’s help, she would do her best to assist.
