The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 595: Chapter 595: Harbor Malicious Intentions [Five Updates]

In fact, as soon as Elder Yin began to speak, Jing Yan was almost certain that Mr. Yin, the Dark Night Leader of Lanqu County whom he had killed, had some connection with the Elder Yin in front of him.

”The person you killed was called Yin Jiu, one of my subordinates.” Elder Yin’s eyes flashed sharply, and his imposing aura suddenly surged forth, pressing against Jing Yan.

Jing Yan’s eyebrows twitched slightly, and his eyes narrowed as he looked at Elder Yin.

”Elder Yin, you’re mistaken on a couple of counts. First, I didn’t know that Mr. Yin was your subordinate. Second, he tried to kill me first; I was merely defending myself.” Jing Yan shrugged his shoulders lightly, effortlessly deflecting the aura Elder Yin had released.

Seeing that Jing Yan could so calmly deflect his own pressure, a flash of surprise briefly crossed Elder Yin’s eyes.

This Jing Yan might be even more troublesome than he had imagined!

”Alchemist Jing Yan, don’t worry, we’re not here to settle accounts with you. I simply hope you’ll consider my proposal for a partnership,” Gu Xinghe said, quickly softening his sharp gaze and speaking with a smile.

”Young Master Gu, I’m sincerely sorry, but I’m powerless to help with your proposition,” Jing Yan refused.

”Oh?” Gu Xinghe seemed genuinely surprised.

Looking over the entire Heavenly Origin Continent, it was rare to find anyone who dared to refuse him, Gu Xinghe.

Jing Yan smiled as he observed Gu Xinghe.

Inside Pill Country, he didn’t believe that Gu Xinghe would dare lay a hand on him. Even outside Pill Country, it was unlikely that Gu Xinghe would dare to take any overt action against him.

The Pill Country Minister Order was no joke. If the Guest Token did not serve this purpose, why would Hu Donghe have spoken as he did?

Hu Donghe had already spread the news that he had given Jing Yan a Guest Token throughout the Heavenly Origin Continent. He let everyone know that Jing Yan was a man respected by Hu Donghe.

Over the past few days, Jing Yan had also been receiving reports that several mysterious figures who had been lingering outside Pill Country were quietly withdrawing.

”No matter!”

”Whether Alchemist Jing Yan is willing to cooperate or not, that’s your prerogative. Naturally, I can’t force you.”

”However, I do have another request. I’d like to ask for Alchemist Jing Yan’s assistance with a small matter. If Alchemist Jing Yan is willing, then Elder Yin probably won’t mind the friction between you two anymore. Right, Elder Yin?” Gu Xinghe said with a superficial smile.

”Mm. One Yin Jiu is dispensable, hardly an individual of any importance,” Elder Yin nodded in agreement.

”Heh heh... Young Master Gu, what do you want me to do?” Jing Yan asked, his eyes twirling inquisitively.

”As you hail from Lanqu County, my family, the Gu Family, has discovered an Ancient Cave Mansion there. I would like to ask Alchemist Jing Yan to lead me into this mansion,” Gu Xinghe stated, eyeing Jing Yan.

Hearing these words, Jing Yan pondered.

Truth be told, Jing Yan didn’t want to offend a behemoth like the Gu Family. Given his current strength, it was impossible for him to contend with the Gu Family.

If Gu Xinghe really had no ulterior motive and just wanted a simple favor, then Jing Yan could naturally agree.

The problem was, could Jing Yan trust Gu Xinghe?

He could be one hundred percent certain that Gu Xinghe’s intentions were not pure. If Gu Xinghe wanted his help, it was probably to lure him out of Pill Country.

However, there was another point that Jing Yan didn’t quite understand. If Gu Xinghe lured him out of Pill Country, what was his goal? To kill him?

If he followed them, many people would know, including Hu Donghe. If Gu Xinghe truly intended to kill him, would he not fear Hu Donghe’s wrath?

Jing Yan hesitated!

”Alchemist Jing Yan, if you do me this favor, I will also tell you some information that you will definitely find interesting,” Gu Xinghe said as he saw Jing Yan’s hesitation.

”I think, Alchemist Jing Yan, you must be very curious about your father’s whereabouts, aren’t you?” Gu Xinghe threw out a bombshell.

”What did you say?” Jing Yan’s eyes widened.

Jing Yan had little recollection of his own father. He only knew that his father had left the family and Donglin City when he was very young. As for where his father had gone, it was unknown not just to him, but to the whole family.

And now, Gu Xinghe had made such a statement.

Could it be that Gu Xinghe knew the whereabouts of his father?

Jing Yan looked at Gu Xinghe somewhat shockingly.

”Alchemist Jing Yan, you better make a decision quickly! If you do me this favor, I will definitely keep my word and will surely tell you some things about your father,” Gu Xinghe urged.

”Ten days from now, let’s set off!” Jing Yan no longer hesitated.

”Good!” Gu Xinghe clapped his hands together.

Ten days passed in a blink.

During these ten days, Jing Yan did not step outside of his room. He did not enhance his Primordial Energy Cultivation, nor did he practice Alchemy. He spent all his energy focusing on Array Formation and Micro Arrays.

Elder Yin was unfathomably strong, and though Gu Xinghe wasn’t much, Jing Yan could sense that Gu Xinghe was merely a Martial Artist of the Daoist Master Realm. But Elder Yin, he was definitely a Martial Artist of the Dao King Realm. If Elder Yin made his move, Jing Yan was not confident.

However, Jing Yan could set up Micro Arrays.

Since accessing the Qiankun Array Path Advanced Study, Jing Yan hadn’t neglected the study of array formation. Now, he was able to set up several Intermediate Arrays. Although the Micro Arrays were less powerful, they were convenient to carry and could be used at any moment once set up.

In ten days, Jing Yan had set up three Micro Arrays; one purely offensive, one a Defensive Array, and one a Trapping Array.

With these three Arrays, coupled with some basic Intermediate Arrays he had practiced setting up before, even if Elder Yin tried to kill him, he would definitely have the ability to fight back.

After ten days, Jing Yan met Gu Xinghe and Elder Yin again.

”Young Master Gu, let’s set off,” Jing Yan said to Gu Xinghe.

”Let’s go! To Lanqu County!” Gu Xinghe nodded.

The three of them left the Splendid Pill Tower, exited Pill Country, and flew toward Lanqu County.

Given the speed of the three men, it would take a month or two to travel from Pill Country to Lanqu County.

One day, the three of them arrived at the Prince Manor of Lanqu County Commandery to meet with Commandery Prince Zhou Shangyun.

Zhou Shangyun recognized Gu Xinghe as soon as he saw him, even before Jing Yan had a chance to speak.

As the Gu Family’s candidate Patriarch, Gu Xinghe was likely known by ninety-nine out of a hundred Commandery Princes on the Continent.

What followed was a series of pleasantries. Although Gu Xinghe was arrogant, he respected Zhou Shangyun, at least on the surface.

After hearing the reason why Gu Xinghe and Jing Yan had come to Lanqu County together, Zhou Shangyun’s expression shifted slightly. Before, he had been wondering why Jing Yan had inexplicably gotten involved with the Gu Family’s candidate Patriarch, suspecting that the Dark Night Organization was backed by the Gu Family. Now, he understood the reason and began to worry for Jing Yan.

With a quick thought, Zhou Shangyun discerned that Gu Xinghe definitely had malicious intentions. If he really wanted someone to guide him, why seek out Jing Yan? If he had come directly to the Prince Manor, would Zhou Shangyun have refused to do him this small favor?
