Vampire Progenitor System

”Who are you really?” Remu asked, her voice quieter now, trailing behind him like a shadow. ”What are you?”

The man didn’t stop walking. His coat swayed behind him with each step, boots hitting the wet concrete of the warehouse exit in slow, deliberate rhythm.

”I’m a high-ranking demon,” he said casually, like he was talking about the weather. ”Royal, to be precise. Son of the progenitor of the succubi and incubi.”

He paused just outside, letting the city’s cold wind hit his face. The neon lights reflected faintly off the puddles at his feet. Then he glanced over his shoulder, eyes half-lidded, bored. ”In your terms, I’m the Demon King of Lust.”

Remu froze.

He turned fully toward her now, tilting his head slightly, like he was humoring a child. ”My demon name? Nah. You hear it, you die. So just call me Daniel.”

Boom.

It hit her like thunder in her chest.

Her eyes widened. The color drained from her face.

A Demon King?

Her mother had told her stories. Terrible, whispered tales only shared during storms, when the wind howled and it felt like something could be listening.

The Demon Kings—rulers of the seven domains of the demon realm. Each one a nightmare wrapped in flesh. The kind of beings even elder witches feared.

And Daniel—Lust. The most unpredictable one.

Her mother always warned her, ”If you ever see one... don’t speak. Don’t move. Just pray they don’t notice you.”

But she hadn’t just seen one.

She summoned him.

And now he was standing in front of her like it was nothing. Like he wasn’t the stuff of dark myths and forbidden texts.

Remu took a step back without realizing it. ”You’re... a Demon King?” she whispered.

Daniel smirked, hands still in his pockets. ”Did I stutter?”

Everything she thought she knew twisted. She thought she’d summoned a strong demon, maybe something rare. A weapon.

But not this.

Her fingers twitched. Her heart pounded.

And suddenly, her mother’s warnings made sense.

There was a reason the Warlocks—the children born from demons and witches—were so feared. They weren’t just strong. They were monsters. Not because they chose to be. But because something made by this and a witch? That was a walking apocalypse.

”I didn’t know,” she said, barely audible. ”I didn’t mean to summon... you.”

Daniel chuckled. It wasn’t loud. Just a soft, amused exhale through his nose.

”Yeah,” he said, stepping closer, shadows clinging to his boots as he moved. ”That’s how these things usually go.”

He stood in front of her now. Tall. Calm. Terrifying without even trying to be.

”Tell me, witch girl,” he said, tone sharp but lazy, ”you think you’re ready to play with kings?”

Remu’s lips parted, but no words came out. Her mind screamed at her to run. But her body wouldn’t move.

Daniel leaned down slightly, face just inches from hers now, his breath warm and scented faintly of something strange—like smoke and flowers crushed underfoot. His voice lowered to a whisper, calm and casual.

”Too late to send me back.”

Then he straightened and turned again, walking off into the night like nothing had happened. His coat fluttered once behind him, like wings.

Remu just stood there, staring after him, throat dry, chest tight.

What have I done...?

Elsewhere.

”Hmm?”

Greta’s hand stopped mid-air, a leather-bound book slipping from her fingers and landing on the desk with a dull thud. Her eyes narrowed as she turned her head slightly, a shiver running down her spine.

Something had changed.

Something big.

The candle flames in the library flickered violently for a split second, like the whole room had just taken a sharp breath and held it.

She stood completely still, then closed her eyes.

And there it was.

A presence.

Ancient. Royal. Heavy enough to press down on her bones. It wasn’t just demonic—it was refined, controlled. Regal.

No way...

She opened her eyes slowly, expression tightening.

”A royal demon,” she muttered.

Her fingers clenched around the edge of the desk. She hadn’t felt anything like this in years. Not since that woman visited.

The memory clawed its way back.

A tall woman. Long black hair that shimmered with stardust. Crimson eyes that seemed to look through her. Greta had never felt so small in her life. Could barely breathe when she was in the same room with her. Like she was staring at a living storm.

She brought a child.

Didn’t say much. Just placed him in Greta’s care—no name, no explanation—and told her to send him down the path of the Williams. Said they’d take him in.

Greta didn’t argue.

She couldn’t.

The moment that woman turned to leave, Greta had dropped to her knees, drenched in cold sweat. From that day, she swore never to involve herself in their world again.

But now... now a Demon King was here.

In the mortal realm.

”What is going on...?” she muttered, one hand rising to scratch at her wrist. Her skin felt itchy, like something was crawling underneath. ”The monsters are moving again. And now this?”

Her voice got sharper as the frustration bled in.

”First Lucifer, now a Demon King? Are we going to have a parade of disasters now?”

She grabbed the side of her head, wincing as a pulse of pain ran through her temple. The world felt like it was tilting. Everything she thought she’d left behind—everything she tried to bury—it was all crawling back to the surface.

She looked out the window. Dark clouds were gathering. The moon looked thinner tonight, almost like it was hiding.

”Maybe it’s time,” she said quietly. ”Time to leave the mortal realm. I’ll take Remu. We’ll go to the Spirit Realm. Or maybe the Elves’ domain—they’re still peaceful, still untouched.”

She nodded to herself, trying to make it feel more like a plan and less like fear. ”We’ll return when things settle. When the chaos clears.”

But what she did not know was that.

It’s already too late.

Remu was tangled deep. Whether she knew it or not.

The blood she carried. The decisions made years ago. The people she was now brushing shoulders with. The Demon King... wasn’t summoned by chance.

Greta didn’t know it yet. But the storm had already claimed them.

And it was only just beginning to spin.
