Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

Gus fell to the ground, feeling that he had fallen from heaven to hell.

His brain was in a mess. His consciousness seemed to be drifting in a giant black swirl. Everything was spinning, spinning, until his head was fuzzy. Everything that had happened and every word that had been spoken turned into dancing butterflies and scraps of kaleidoscope.

“Ah!”

He shouted and sat up on the bed. He discovered that his body was covered in bandages, and the bandages were sticky with cold sweat. It was extremely uncomfortable.

Gus blinked and looked around in a daze.

It was a small, shabby room. The air was filled with the fragrance of herbs. There was a small stove in the corner of the room, which was cooking something with a weird smell.

His sister Grey was curled up next to the stove. She looked exhausted, but she had fallen asleep accidentally.

In her arms, she was still holding the ball of steam where the devil was lurking.

“I…”

Gus opened his mouth, only to feel that his lips were dry as if they were on fire. He moved his hands and feet, but he also felt that his body was full of tiny wounds. He was like a broken vase that had barely been put back together again. Every movement hurt his heart.

He recalled that he had been surrounded by dozens of priests of the Fist God Temple on the battlefield, and they had launched their ultimate moves at him. Then… next…

Then, something happened. He seemed to see a corner of a higher, more real world and realized who he was.

But right now, his head was fuzzy, and he had forgotten everything.

Holding his breath and thinking hard, Gus failed to recall anything. Instead, he felt that his head was about to explode, and he couldn’t help but shout.

“Gus!”

The sister woke up in shock. The ball of steam in her arms fell to the ground unconsciously.

The sister lunged at Gus, her eyes brimming with tears.

“Sister, I—”

Gus opened his mouth, only to feel that something was stuck in his throat. He vomited a mouthful of black blood, and he finally felt better.

“Gus, you’re fine now!”

With tears in her eyes, Grey said, “Do you know that you’ve been in a coma for seven days and seven nights?”

“What?”

Gus was stunned.

After hearing his sister’s description, Gus finally realized how dangerous the situation was.

When his sister and Andre led the main troops to reinforce him and rescue Gus, he had already been hit by the ultimate move of the high priest of the Fist God Hall. He had been heavily wounded, his bones broken, and his body turned into a pile of mud.

If it were an ordinary person, they would definitely be killed on the spot if they suffered such heavy wounds, which were as heavy as being crushed by an army of thousands of soldiers. Even the gods would not be able to save them.

Gus, on the other hand, managed to maintain his last breath with the help of his tenacious vitality. He slept soundly for seven days and seven nights in the bandages that were soaked in the ointment and gradually recovered.

“Thankfully, you are fine. It seems that Master Lu Qingchen’s strength is indeed amazing. He has rescued the man that the Fist God wanted to kill. Right now, we can only serve him until the end!”

The sister put her hands together and said sincerely and excitedly.

Looking at his sister, Gus felt weird.

When he was unconscious, he seemed to have learned the truth about his sister.

He felt that… there was something wrong with his sister’s current appearance.

He didn’t like his sister’s behavior. He didn’t like his sister’s devotion to the gods and devils. Whether the other party was a Fist God or a devil, his sister didn’t deserve to serve him wholeheartedly.

But Gus did not know what to say to his sister.

His sister was different from him.

Everyone in the Fist God’s World was different from him.

For some reason, such a thought popped up in Gus’ mind.

Blinking, Gus felt panic, confusion, and maybe loneliness and anger.

He held his sister’s hand.

His sister’s hands were just as he remembered. They were rough because she had practiced too many fist arts, and they were warm because of her strength.

It was the only thing that Gus could hold on to after his parents passed away.

His sister’s hands were real.

His sister was real, too.

Just like Gus himself, nobody could erase their existence.

Gus got off the bed and walked to the window, gritting his teeth despite the excruciating pain.

Outside the window, people were talking, and steam was hissing louder and louder.

Gus pushed open the window and narrowed his eyes. Under the brilliant sunlight, he saw countless steel beasts that were emitting steam, rivets, and hanging tens of turrets walking past him as if nobody was around.

On the body of the iron beast that was wreathed in steam, flags of the Steam Legion were everywhere. Burning gears were glittering in the sunlight.

“This is…”

Gus was deeply awed by the magnificent steel torrent in front of him.

“It’s the main force of the Steam Legion!” Grey shouted excitedly.

His sister explained to Gus that a lot of things that could decide the future of the Fist God’s World had happened during his seven days and seven nights of coma.

Most importantly, the main force of the Steam Legion and the main force of the Iron Fist Legion had finally locked onto each other. They entangled each other like two raging dragons and were about to launch the final attack that would decide the outcome of the battle.

Speaking of which, the final battle had something to do with Gus.

Grey and he had named themselves ‘saint sons’ and ‘saint daughters’ respectively. It was not a big deal at first.

After all, in such a large-scale insurrection that was somewhat superstitious, countless foolish men and women would feel that they were possessed by a devil in a trance, thereby deceiving themselves and others.

It was not impossible for almost a hundred ‘Holy Sons’ to exist in an insurrection at the same time.

But not every ‘Holy Son’ could be surrounded by dozens of high priests of the Fist God Hall.

After the short and weird assault seven days ago, the soldiers of the Iron Fist Legion had come to a shocking conclusion after analyzing the situation of the battle—the Iron Fist Legion had come for Gus. Their purpose was not to destroy the Iron Fist Legion but to kill Gus!

Even though dozens of high priests of the Temple of Fist bombarded him at the cost of everything, they failed to kill Gus in the end.

Gus’s wounds had been examined by many generals of the Steam Legion. To be honest, nobody was confident that Gus could see the sun tomorrow when his bones and internal organs were shattered.

But Gus seemed to have an undying body. He was recovering at an unbelievable speed every day. His bones and internal organs that had been shattered yesterday were now as good as new. His functions were even better than before.

Such a ‘miracle’ forced the soldiers of the Steam Legion to believe in the identity of ‘Holy Son’ of Gus. At the very least, it was a hundred times more credible than the self-proclaimed ‘Holy Sons’ that the silly men and women claimed to be. It also encouraged all the believers and warriors to strengthen their belief and summon their courage to fight against the Temple of Fist until the end.

Therefore, after it was confirmed that a miracle had happened, several elite troops of the Steam Legion moved toward the village where Gus was.
