Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

For a moment, the entire street was wreathed in flames, steam, and scraps of cannons.

The fans of the mechanical demons and the steam demons were boiled by the scorching steam at first, before they were shot full of broken bones and internal organs by the flying scraps.

The few muscular demons who were responsible for dragging the steam cannons were the closest to the exploding steam balls and the high-pressure chambers. Therefore, they were blown into pieces without leaving any intact bones. The scene was truly appalling.

Although Gus and Grey were looking for a place to hide at Lu Qingchen’s reminder,

He was still blown away by the scorching airwaves. As if somebody had hammered him in the back, he vomited blood and rolled on the ground.

Thankfully, there were people all around them and on the ground, acting as soft meat pads. Only in this way did the two siblings not fall and break their bones.

They picked their humming ears and heard miserable screams around them, as if ghosts were crying.

It was not just the physical pain, but also the thought that ‘the God of Steam abandoned us’ or ‘the God of Steam was no match for the Fist God’ that made the fanatics break down and scream hysterically.

Then, boiling blood rained down from the sky.

They were the broken fanatics who had been blown into the sky.

Gus felt like vomiting.

He seemed to have fallen into a nightmare.

He looked around. In the world of boiling steam, the previously magnificent fanatics were all crying and crawling on the ground toward the steam cannons that had been twisted into debris. Some of them even turned around and ran away.

It was like a giant wave that seemed to be coming at them aggressively, but when it hit the breakwater, the breakwater remained still, but the giant wave collapsed and rolled back.

After only three bombardments and several breaths, the ‘magnificent’ event was about to collapse under the pressure of the Fist God.

“Pa Da!”

At this moment, half of Luo Xinglong’s body fell from the sky and landed in front of the two siblings.

He was like a cooked shrimp. Hot steam was popping up from his red skin. Metal scraps were embedded all over his body. One of his eyeballs had exploded, revealing a black hollow.

The body below the waist was gone, and his internal organs were a mess. He was not dead yet despite the heavy wounds. There was surprise and confusion in his only eye, as if he was still dwelling on the moment when he opened fire and collapsed. It took him a long time to focus his attention on Gus and Grey, the ‘saint’ and the ‘saint’.

“Run.”

He stared at Gus and smiled in embarrassment. Then he said softly, “Run to the south and find the Steam Legion. We… we will win. One day, we will!”

Finishing his speech and exhaling the last bit of steam, Luo Xinglong’s single eye gradually solidified into a lackluster grey color.

Gus and Grey had mixed feelings. Before they realized what was going on, they were pulled up by countless hands and pushed back by the few surviving believers of the Mechanical and Steam Churches.

At this moment, most of the soldiers on both sides were crammed in the narrow streets, which were packed to the brim. Even if the morale of the soldiers of the Iron Fist Legion collapsed because of the explosions of the steam cannons, it would still be impossible for them to flee in a hurry. Even if the Iron Fist Legion wanted to chase after them, they would not be able to pass through the chaotic human wall.

In addition, the granary was still burning, and the raging flames were getting more and more intense. Moreover, the steam troops were blowing horns all over the city and launching small-scale attacks, causing panic and chaos.

After defending the Temple of Fist, the top priority of the Iron Fist Legion was to extinguish the fire in the granary and maintain order. Otherwise, even if they were able to suppress this group of evil cultivators, the future days of Qianyuan City would not be good.

Therefore, the two of them fled toward the river in confusion, surrounded by the core believers.

But High Priest Luo Tian looked down at them coldly.

But he was not in a hurry to capture them. Instead, he waved his hands and sent the messenger pigeon to the middle and lower reaches of the river.

Gus and Grey felt that they had fallen into a bloody kaleidoscope.

In front of their eyes were the remnants of the battle, the hysterical cries and screams, and the people who were pretending to be calm but whose sweat had soaked the white cloth on their forehead. They clutched their arms and asked, “What do we do? Saint, saintess, what do we do now?”

It was so painful.

Faced with the overwhelming failure, what could the siblings do? Although the fire was still burning, everybody could tell that it was only a matter of time before it was put out. Gus and Grey could only listen to Luo Xinglong and ask everyone to run to the river.

Thankfully, at this moment, the dock and the river were both under the control of the Machinery and Steam Cult.

‘Andre’, who was in charge of the docks and the ships, was a shrewd man.

As soon as he heard the earthshaking explosions coming from the direction of the Fist Hall and the statue of the Fist God standing in front of it for a long time, he realized that the situation was not good. He ordered his subordinates to gather the assets and personnel and board the newly-arrived ships, ready to evacuate at any time.

When Gus and Grey boarded the fleet, surrounded by the core believers, most of the sails were raised, and the strong sailors were ready to row the boats.

The defeated soldiers all explained the situation to Andre. Luo Xinglong was dead, and the unique steam cannon had been blown up. Right now, the city was a mess. Most of the believers were like pigs and sheep that had been knocked out, waiting to be captured and butchered by the Iron Fist Legion.

Andre climbed to the top of the highest mast on all fours. He took out a telescopic telescope from his pocket and observed the situation inside the city for a long time. Then he made up his mind and commanded the crew to set sail.

The ropes were untied, the boards were pulled up, and the sailors tightened their muscles. Their paddles were spinning like fans. The fleet made of dozens of large ships, carrying the dirty-looking machines and believers of the Church of Steam, evacuated their city like stray dogs.

The city, which had been within his reach, gradually faded away. It was like a dream in the middle of the dispersing steam.

Inevitably, there were some who burst into tears, feeling sorry for Luo Xinglong’s heroic sacrifice. There were some who knelt on the deck and kowtowed, begging for the forgiveness of the mechanical and steam gods for their cowardice. There were also some who lamented that the believers left in the city wouldn’t have it easy, that thousands upon thousands of heads were about to fall to the ground. There were even some who glared at Gus and Grey, secretly questioning why the two ‘saints’ and ‘saints’ weren’t able to demonstrate their ‘godly strength’. They were like two ordinary children who were completely useless.
