The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 720: Heiress Part 5

[Notice: This Chapter is told from Pandora’s point of view—the avatar responsible for punishing Elysia! Normally, I’ve avoided using Pandora’s perspective too often. That’s because the story has already ended, and the Omnipotent Pandora is no longer in the world with her beloved ones.

Because of that, it felt more important to show the perspectives of the characters who still live in that world rather than the thoughts of Pandora’s avatars. Especially since each of Pandora’s avatars has its own distinct personality in certain ways. Now, enjoy the scene!]

”...Well, daughters, I think this is wonderful. I’m happy to see you all gathered here, even though your mothers are missing, but that’s fine. I like this...” I say to the four of them gathered here as I touch a wine glass.

They all seemed to really enjoy the food, and Lycoris even asked me for some recipes, a real mother-daughter kind of thing, truly.

’The ”true” Pandora would love to see this...’ My daughters look confused by what I say, but it’s real, I’m very happy. It’s my family, the family I built and protected. I feel a strange sort of pride.

I never imagined I could be so proud of anyone, but I adore my daughters, and I’m so happy with the family I built. I always thought that after getting my revenge, I might end up empty.

But luckily, I created a purpose. Revenge was never 100% of my life. It’s true that everything revolved around revenge, and I would never change that, but instead of making revenge my only goal, I also wanted a family.

”My mother would have been very happy to see you all.” When I say this, Aqua and Lycoris start talking about Mama Echidna, but I was talking about my mother from the other world.

The woman I will never mention to any of my daughters, the mother I will always love, but unfortunately, I will never mention to other people because she comes from a life that doesn’t matter anymore.

’The true Pandora is omnipotent... but she has no emotions... unfortunately, she will never bring our mother back...’ I bite my lips. I would like to see her again at least one last time.

”Mommy Pandora, you looked sad for a moment,” Azazel says, catching my gaze, showing how perceptive she is.

”...I’m just remembering someone important to me who died.” I still have emotions. I am a monster, and that never changed, but even the cruelest of monsters still has their own emotions.

’I miss her...’ Mama Echidna isn’t jealous of me loving another mother. She even said it makes no difference and that it’s fine, so I have two mothers I love very much.

’She would have loved to meet my daughters... but she would also have been disgusted by what I am... too bad...’ I wouldn’t change anything. I know what I am now would disgust my mother, but it’s my life, my choices, and what I became through my own path.

I don’t know what she would feel. I don’t know if she would be afraid of me, and I know she would be disgusted by me, but I have doubts. I wish she would love me and love my daughters.

’Well, it’s better this way... Mom was human, a common and very good woman... she doesn’t deserve the disgust of seeing that the child she raised became a monster...’ I watch my daughters eating.

I can’t say how functional our family is. I think it’s the best it can be considering we all have ”strange” races in general.

”...” I look at the door and see that Elysia is behind it, peeking. The daughter who suffered the most, the daughter who is tortured by her own biology.

”Elysia, come here.” I call for Elysia, who opens the door and enters. The mood immediately becomes a bit sour. Elysia really didn’t make the best of entrances. She walks past the chairs and sits on my lap.

The others practically start purposely ignoring Elysia, going back to their conversations. I use magic to block my daughters’ perception, so they won’t correctly hear or see anything that happens; it will be as if we are frozen or not even here.

”Are you jealous, Elysia?” I ask my sweet heir.

”...Why... why do I have to suffer so much... and they can enjoy life like this, Mommy? I-It’s not fair for me to be punished for a life that wasn’t mine...”

”Perhaps, but no one’s life is fair, and I made a point of making your life as unfair as possible.”

”...D-Do you really love me? Or do you just use that as an excuse to hurt me?” When she says that, I give her a sweet smile.

”I really do love you. You are important to me. You are my family. But my whole life was mainly based on revenge, I couldn’t let you live without punishing you first.” For a moment, I just look at how depressed she is.

”Elysia, since you’re so jealous of your sisters and so sad about the life you have, I will prove how much I love you. I can’t stop punishing you, that’s impossible. I need you suffering.”

”If you are not suffering, I will be dissatisfied with a revenge that will feel incomplete... but, you are still my beloved daughter. When we leave here and return to our home...”

”I will create some remedies for you that you will decide whether to use.”

”Remedies?”

”Yes, a drug that will lock away your instincts for a while, but it will be full of intense aphrodisiacs. I will give you a pack of 30 of them, each with a 12-hour effect, and I will give you a new pack every month. That means you can spend half the time suffering, and half the time euphoric with only pleasure, without your instincts making you want to die.”

”How about that? It’s the kindest I can be because you are my daughter, but I will not give you more than that.” I need her suffering, it’s necessary. Letting her be well or stopping this would go against the very concept of the punishment I gave her.

”...Really?” She looks at my face hopefully.

”Yes, I’m feeling generous today, and I love seeing all my daughters together so much. If you want, we can do the test as soon as we get back.” She shivers a little, knowing it will start as soon as we arrive.

”I-I want to! I-I’ll do anything for that!! I-I don’t need more than that!” She seizes the opportunity immediately.

”Perfect, daughter. Now, act natural.” I undo the magic, going back to appearing normal to everyone.

”Daughters, shall we all sleep together tonight? I’m curious about what it’s like to sleep hugging all my daughters!” I say to them, and they seem excited. It will be an interesting thing to do.
