The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 69: Giant Snake

I soon hit the ground, the impact hurts a little, it seems I’ve fallen on something extremely hard, harder than stones, so I quickly get up and try to see where I am.

I look up at the only ray of light that invades this darkness, it seems I’ve fallen really deep, I didn’t even have time to react because of the system alert.

’What is the true mission? I couldn’t read it because of the fall’

The ground strangely moves a bit.

’L-Lie...I need to get out of here’ A very, very large snake, I’m on top of it, but I can see its body twisting all over the place.

’T-This must be kilometers in size, it wasn’t supposed to be a B-class boss dungeon?’ This is clearly not a B-class boss, the snake I faced seems like a worm compared to this one.

Fortunately, it seems to be sleeping, I can’t defeat this, just by the hardness of the scales I know I can’t even scratch it.

Whatever this true mission is, I don’t care, I have to get out of here, I’ve already gotten the passive I wanted, doing anything else is asking to die.

I try to make wings to fly but the snake moves, making me undo this instantly.

’R-Reacted to me? Impossible, it’s sleeping’ I try to make wings again but its body moves again, I try to use magic and its body shakes even more.

It seems to be reacting to my magic and abilities, if I continue, it will probably wake up or come here and that will be the end of me.

’I need to get out of here on foot’ I start walking on the body of this huge serpent, I think this is easily above S-class, I do everything to hide my aura and hide the passives.

”Pandora, where are we? And what the hell is this situation? Seriously? If you wanna die, die alone, don’t drag me with you.”

”Look who decided to wake up.” Violet speaks to me, in a way her arrogant tone in this insane situation is comforting.

”I don’t know either, it was supposed to be a dungeon with at most a B-class boss, but suddenly a true mission alert appeared and I fell here, I didn’t even see what the mission was.”

The true mission didn’t have if I wanted to accept it, it just appeared that it had activated.

Since I didn’t see if I wanted to accept it, it disappeared a few seconds later, so I didn’t see anything, after all, it’s kind of difficult to see or notice letters when the perspective of your vision changes abruptly.

”What do you think this thing is?” I ask Violet as I walk, I won’t be able to go back through that hole, I need another exit, even if I have to dig one with my hands.

”I don’t know? But I don’t think it’s from here.”

”You mean it entered this dungeon and made it its home? Then in case it dies, it won’t respawn.”

Although I doubt killing this is easy.

”What makes you think this thing isn’t from here? And why is it so strong?”

Just by observing, you can see that the aura this thing emanates is terrifying.

”No, it’s because of the type, look closely at these scales, it doesn’t match the type of this dungeon.”

’She knows things without me saying...’ I never said what type this dungeon was and she was sleeping the whole time, and it’s really a mystery how she knows certain things, I’d better not ask now.

This snake has black metallic scales with very dark red tones, it really doesn’t match this dungeon that has a forest-based setting.

Also, this place underground is strange, it’s not natural, it was probably dug by the snake itself, but what would it be doing in this dungeon? As a monster, I know our instincts can be somewhat domineering.

So for her, who is a monster without evolved rationality, to stand still in a ”weak” place is not normal.

”Maybe...”

”Eggs?” I say to Violet, the only reason I can think of for this snake to decide to stay in this place would be offspring, an area where all enemies are weak is perfect for having children safely.

”But the kingdom would know, so this thing must have entered here even before the kingdom knew about this dungeon.”

”But if this is really the reason, you’re in serious trouble, Pandora, because she’ll probably see you as an enemy, thinking you’re after her babies.”

Monsters have different gestation, I’ve seen in some books that certain monsters can take millennia to have a child, so the chances of this thing really taking care of eggs are very high.

When you’re very strong, you can exchange mana for nutrients, so powerful monsters don’t need food unless they’re severely injured, and monsters can just convert mana into water, so they don’t need to go out there.

This would explain why this snake isolated itself underground, this way it can just focus its attention on taking care of its child.

”Do you think I should tell the kingdom about this?...ha..HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA” I just had an insane idea, so I fall into laughter at the prospect of doing such a thing.

”Has fear fried your head, Pandora? Why are you laughing alone?”

”Violet, I had a wonderful idea.” If you compare auras, this snake is weaker than the director, so I had a great idea.

I’m going to steal this snake’s offspring, making it aggressive, no one will know it was me, so I’ll just save all the students and get us out of the dungeon.

This way, I’ll force the director to fight this monster while gaining credit for saving all the students, of course, people like the director will wonder what made this snake act.

But without proof, they can’t do anything, my shadow sculpture doesn’t leave a trace because it doesn’t use mana, so this is completely possible.

However, to be able to find 100% of the students in this large dungeon, I’ll have to spend 100% of my mana, which means that if I’m caught by the snake, it’s a guaranteed death.

”Violet, you have your own mana, don’t you? Can you give me your mana?”

”...I don’t know what you’re planning, but your smile is bizarre...many will die with your idea, won’t they?”

Certainly many will die, but I don’t care, as long as the heroes don’t die, I don’t care if this snake leaves the dungeon and starts ravaging everything.

And best of all, I’ll get a monster hatchling to take care of, seeing the size of this thing, if I can get a hatchling, I can train it and even evolve it like Shogo.

”Maybe, who knows? So can you give me your mana or not?”

Having her mana as collateral is great.

”Haaa...I can.” She sighs, soon I start looking for the nest, which is where the probable egg is, the body of this snake moves from time to time, now I’m not so sure if it’s sleeping.

But I have the courage to move forward, fortunately the professor warned where the dungeon exit is, so almost everything is in my favor.

”Did you hear that, Pandora? Let’s get out of here.” Violet doesn’t know about my plan, and now we’ve just heard the snake’s breathing, a very loud sound worthy of its size, by the sound I judge that fortunately it’s really sleeping.

Violet can’t be heard by others besides me, unless Violet herself wants others to hear, at the moment only I hear her voice, so I don’t have to worry about her talking.

’I need to be quick and accurate.’ The moment I spread my mana, this snake will undoubtedly mark me as a target, it seems to be very sensitive to the use of magic or abilities.

Soon I reach a more open area in this tunnel, I see the snake’s huge head, I think it can swallow a 5-story building in one bite.

It’s simply bizarre.

I see the nest, it has only one egg.

’Looks like it’s really hard to have many children.’ Unlike normal snakes that have many eggs, this snake only has one, and that makes it even more valuable, the chances of this snake having another child in this lifetime are quite low.

’The egg is bigger than me...’ it must be around 2 meters, although I still find it small compared to the snake’s huge size.

’Get ready...’ I take a deep breath, inhale, I breathe and exhale, looking for the perfect moment.

I’ll have to spread my mana, teleport the egg, run away and still look for all the students, all difficult tasks considering I don’t know how fast this snake is.

The egg will be sent directly to the Grand Duke’s mansion in my room, so he will know it’s mine and won’t be careless with it.

”Pandora, what the hell are you doing? You wanna die? Let’s get out of here, this thing is dangerous.” I’m very good at hiding myself when I want to, my presence is like part of the scenery.

However, the moment I use my mana, I’ll be like a giant scoreboard saying I’m here, come get me.

I make hand gestures to her indicating what I’ll do, I don’t have the courage to speak, I don’t know how good this snake’s hearing is.

Actually, what I’m doing is pure madness, I don’t know anything about my enemy and have no guarantee of success.

But there’s something tempting about this, not just the prospect of causing many deaths by angering this snake, in fact, what excites me the most is stealing the egg.

Not because I want the egg, but because it’s from a monster stronger than me, the euphoria I feel in planning the theft and the death of a monster superior to me is delicious, so good and pleasurable that it makes me not think straight.

I’ll love to see this snake’s corpse and know that I was the one responsible for its death, maybe I’m a degenerate for getting excited about this, but I don’t care, it’s just exhilarating to do such a thing.

It’s not that I don’t care about my life, but what is life without fun? And right now, what will entertain me the most is this, I was already mentally exhausted just from spending a day taking care of the heroes.

But now I have the fun I wanted, and I won’t let it slip from my hands.

I make a hand sign to Violet, I’m ready, it’s the perfect moment, I’m going to act now.
