Villain: Manipulating the Heroines into hating the Protagonist

Chapter 102 Fake Assassination Attempt

Wang Jianʼs eyes sparkled as he spoke, ”I must confess, my dear. I caught a glimpse of you in the palace and was instantly smitten. I knew I had to have you, and I used my power and influence to ensure that your hand in marriage would be mine. I understand if you feel this is wrong and despise me for it.”

Chen Yiyanʼs heart fluttered at his honesty, and she couldnʼt help but admire his straightforwardness. ”I appreciate your candor, Prince Wang Jian,” she replied, her voice soft and sincere.

”I understand that my father has promised me to you, and I will honor his wishes,” she continued, her voice trembling with emotion.

”But I hope that we can build a relationship based on trust and respect. I have no doubt that you will make a wonderful husband, but I ask for your patience and understanding as I adjust to this new chapter in my life.”

Wang Jian responded with a reassuring nod and a warm smile. ”Of course, my dear,” he said in a soft voice.

As Chen Yiyan observed the Princeʼs charming smile, her heart skipped a beat. She couldnʼt deny the fact that the man she was betrothed to was not only honorable but incredibly handsome as well.

As the conversation continued, Chen Yiyan found herself becoming more at ease with Wang Jian. She started to open up about her life in the palace and her hobbies, and Wang Jian listened attentively, genuinely interested in what she had to say.

”I have always enjoyed painting and calligraphy,” Chen Yiyan said, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of her lips. ”It is a way for me to express myself and escape from the rigidity of court life.”

”I can relate,” Wang Jian responded with a chuckle. ”I also have a love for the arts. In fact, I have a collection of paintings and sculptures that I would be honored to show you someday.”

Chen Yiyanʼs eyes lit up with excitement. ”I would love that,” she replied. ”Iʼve always been fascinated by art and would be thrilled to see your collection.”

As the two continued to chat, Chen Yiyan found herself feeling more and more comfortable with Wang Jian. She couldnʼt deny the attraction she felt towards him, but at the same time, she knew that their marriage was not just based on physical attraction.

”I know that our marriage is not just about love and attraction,” Chen Yiyan said, her voice soft and sincere. ”I understand that there are political implications and responsibilities that come with being married to a prince.”

Wang Jian nodded, his expression serious. ”Yes, you are correct. But I promise you, Chen Yiyan, that I will do everything in my power to make sure that you are happy and fulfilled in our marriage. I will be your partner and your ally in all things.”

Chen Yiyan smiled at his words, feeling a sense of warmth spread through her. She couldnʼt deny the fact that she was starting to fall for the charming Prince, and she hoped that their marriage would be a happy one.

As they continued to converse, Chen Yiyan suddenly mustered the courage to ask Wang Jian a question that had been on her mind. ”What about your other women?” she inquired, knowing that as a prince, he was bound to have multiple relationships.

Wang Jianʼs expression shifted slightly, but he quickly composed himself and answered her truthfully. ”I am already in a relationship with four women,” he said, mentioning their names as Su Xian, Fen Shuying, Kang Huian, and Han Xifeng.

Chen Yiyan listened carefully, trying to hide any hint of jealousy or disapproval. ”I see,” she said simply, before changing the topic to something else.

As they talked, she began to feel more comfortable around Wang Jian and found herself opening up to him more.

As the day came to an end, Chen Yiyan returned to her chambers while Wang Jian rested on his bed and slept peacefully.

The next day, Wang Jian began to check out the system notifications.

Observing that Chen Yiyanʼs favorability and loyalty towards him were still in their early stages, Wang Jian realized that it would not be wise to inform her about Zhang Feiʼs execution.

He feared that she might request to meet him or plead with him to spare Zhang Feiʼs life if she found out about his involvement in the matter.

Wang Jian realized that he had to think on his feet since the matter could not remain hidden for too long. He knew that, at best, he could only delay the inevitable for a few days.

To mitigate the impact of the revelation, he decided to spread the news about Zhang Fei, which was so scandalous that Chen Yiyan would be thoroughly repulsed by him and might even welcome his execution.

On that very same day, Wang Jian requested an urgent meeting with King Chen. As they sat down, Wang Jian began, ”King Chen, I have come to discuss a matter of great importance.”

King Chen looked at him with concern, ”What is it, Your Highness? Is there something wrong?”

Wang Jian explained his plan to him and how he wanted to tarnish Zhang Feiʼs reputation to ensure that Chen Yiyan would not develop any feelings for him.

”I believe that Zhang Feiʼs ambiguous relationship with Chen Yiyan could cause trouble for us in the future. Therefore, I think itʼs best to handle this situation before it becomes a problem.”

King Chen was surprised but also intrigued, ”I see your point, Prince Wang Jian. But how do you plan to tarnish his reputation?”

Wang Jianʼs lips curled into a sly and cunning smile. ”I believe that if the news were to spread that Zhang Fei tried to assassinate you upon hearing of Chen Yiyanʼs betrothal to me, she would surely begin to hate him,” he explained.

King Chen felt that Wang Jianʼs words made sense.

King Chen nodded thoughtfully. ”Very well,” he said, impressed. ”When should we begin this plan?”

Wang Jianʼs answer was swift and confident. ”Now,” he declared, his mind already formulating the first steps of the operation.

Within minutes, the news of an attempted assassination on King Chen spread like wildfire throughout the entire Royal Palace. The culprit was identified as none other than Zhang Fei, sending shockwaves through the kingdom.

Chen Yiyan, upon hearing the news, was left completely stunned and shattered. She had never expected such a horrific act from someone she had once liked.

As she tried to make sense of Zhang Feiʼs actions, she was informed that he was filled with rage towards King Chen for arranging her marriage with Wang Jian. In his fury, he had attempted to assassinate the king as a way of venting his anger.

Upon hearing of this reason, Chen Yiyanʼs hate for Zhang Fei intensified greatly, just as Wang Jian had calculated.

To ensure that Chen Yiyan wouldnʼt forgive Zhang Fei easily, King Chen acted as if he was gravely injured by Zhang Fei and wouldnʼt recover any time soon.

Wang Jianʼs plan worked wonderfully, and he soon left the capital city, Solterra, on his griffin. He was heading back to Qianwei Town.

It was time for Zhang Feiʼs public execution at the hands of his beloved, Meng Xiangyi.

In the meantime, Meng Xiangyi was in deep thought as she contemplated the matter of killing her beloved. Although Zhang Fei had committed a despicable deed, she still couldnʼt make up her mind to kill him.

”Meng Xiangyi, my dear daughter, whatʼs troubling you?” he asked with concern.

Meng Xiangyi sighed deeply before replying, ”Father, I cannot bring myself to kill Zhang Fei, even after what he has done. I still have feelings for him.”

The City Lord listened carefully to his daughterʼs words before responding, ”I understand your pain, my child. But you must remember that he committed a heinous act and must face the consequences of his actions.”

Meng Xiangyi knew that her father was right, but the thought of killing the man she loved made her heart heavy with grief. She took a deep breath and nodded slowly in agreement.

”I will do what is necessary, Father,” she said, trying to steel herself for the difficult task ahead.

The City Lord placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and spoke softly, ”I know it wonʼt be easy, my child, but itʼs the right thing to do. Remember, we must always put the needs of our clan above our personal desires.”

Meng Xiangyi nodded, feeling the weight of her responsibility settling heavily upon her. She knew that the execution was necessary for the good of the clan and tried to focus on that, even as her heart ached with sorrow.
