Chapter 701: The five couples

Liam, having gathered his courage, followed Arslan’s example and approached Eulalia.

“May I ask you to dance?” he asked, holding out his hand, as Arslan had done. Although he was worried inside because he didn’t know how to dance, he didn’t want to miss the chance to be with the girl he liked.

Alois, pleased with his student’s bravery, nodded in approval.

Milica looked at her first senior student with a slight smile, waiting to see her reaction.

Eulalia, who herself wanted to join the dance with her younger ones, hoped in her heart that Liam would come up to her and ask her to dance. Therefore, she agreed to his proposal without hesitation, which did not surprise Milica.

Eulalia remained calm, not showing her joy, which greatly worried poor Liam.

“I… I want to admit that I don’t know how to dance,” Liam said as they headed for the dance floor. He decided to do it before she finds out during the dance and gets disappointed in him.

Instead of expressing contempt, as he expected, Eulalia smiled and had to restrain her laughter, looking at him.

“Don’t worry, I’ll lead the dance,” she said softly, making Liam speechless.

“Damn it! How beautiful she is when she smiles,” Liam thought, unable to take his eyes off her smile, watching her so closely.

They were followed by Nemo and Lina, who did not stop smiling, holding hands. The two of them had been slowly getting to know each other lately, and the Nemo she knew from her avatar’s memories and the one next to her now seemed to be completely different people in character.

The current Nemo was more calm, cautious, and taciturn. However, Lina could see that he was interested in her and also wanted to know more about her. His invitation to dance was proof of that.

For some reason, Lina liked it more than imagining herself dating the guy her avatar loved.

“No, no, I can’t dance,” Leo tried to protest in a low, slightly feminine voice as Hailey dragged him onto the dance floor.

Leo was the only guy at their table, and Hailey couldn’t sit still when she saw her two masters take to the dance floor, followed by Arslan and Irene.

Her dragon blood demanded that she be there too, so her gaze immediately fell on the only guy at their table, and without asking his consent, she dragged poor Leo to the dance.

“Shut up and just follow me,” she barked, rendering Leo speechless and forcing him to give up and quietly follow her.

Leo’s younger sister, who was watching the upcoming dance with interest, admiring the beauty of the couples, saw her older brother being dragged by a beauty, dropped her fork with meat and stared at them with wide-open eyes in shock.

As a result, only five couples came out for the first dance.

Anna shook her head, noticing Richard’s gaze, and decided to give the young people an opportunity to prove themselves. She wanted to watch them before joining the dance.

The five couples took their places, trying not to interfere with each other.

Among them, the couple Idan and Arabel stood out, who felt confident and calm. The others were slightly worried. When the music started, everyone started dancing at their own pace.

The smooth movements of Idan and Arabel to the beat of the music immediately attracted everyone’s attention.

The couple Arslan and Irene also showed high results. Like Arabel, Arslan was a descendant of the Morgan family and received dancing lessons. His movements were smooth, just like Irene’s, who took dance lessons at school and was her younger brother’s teacher.

However, despite their skill, the lack of chemistry between them did not allow them to reach the same level as Idan and Arabel.

They were followed by two couples with varying degrees of skill: Eulalia with Liam and Nemo with Lina.

Although the guys in both pairs were not experienced dancers, they skillfully copied the movements of their leading partners, demonstrating a good level.

The most inept and a little clumsy was the couple Hailey and Leo.

Hayley had no dancing skills and didn’t really like it, and Leo, being a recluse, had never entered the dance field before.

Despite their chaotic movements, they attracted attention for their attempt to learn how to dance and keep their faces in the dirt.

Many who used to think that they couldn’t dance and might embarrass themselves gained the courage to look at these two and started thinking about joining the dance.

“Wonderful!” said Lustina, when the music stopped and all the couples finished their dance. This was followed by thunderous applause.

“Indeed, it was wonderful!” repeated Lustina.

“Let’s thank these five beautiful couples once again for their courage and wonderful dance.”

The four couples were smiling, accepting compliments and applause, while Hayley was in a bad mood. She was angry at herself and at Leo, her sharp vertical eyes staring at him, scaring him greatly.

Poor Leo, who was trying so hard, was trembling like an autumn leaf. He wanted to run away and hide in a dark corner, but Hayley’s firm grip didn’t give him a chance to do that.

“Let’s choose whose dance was the best,” the Merchant suggested.

“I think everyone will agree that the dance of the bride and groom was the most impressive, so is there no need for this argument?” he asked, and everyone around applauded and whistled in agreement.

“So who deserves second place then?”

“Maybe a couple of the groom’s older sister and the bride’s younger brother?”

“Or perhaps a couple of a beautiful elf and a young swordsman?”

“Or is it a couple of a secretive guy in a mask and a beautiful lady?”

“Or do you all support our fifth couple, which, in my opinion, is the brightest and most eye-catching – the angry lady and the timid guy?”

With each question from the Merchant, the guests, supporting each couple, applauded with varying force. As a result, the second place was taken by the couple Arslan and Irene.

They were both very happy with this result, smiling at each other.

They were followed by a couple of Eulalia and Liam, where Liam just glowed with happiness.

The fourth was the pair of Nemo and Lina, for whom only the dance itself, which they performed with each other, was important. The opinions of others didn’t really matter to them.

“Don’t think about running away,” Hailey said, squeezing Leo’s hand even tighter after hearing that they were the last. Her dragon blood couldn’t accept it. “Until you show a decent dance and clean up this shame, I won’t let you go.”

“Why? Why me?” — Leo screamed to himself, terrified of Hailey and not even daring to squeak in response.

Immediately after that, even more couples joined the dance floor, starting the real dance stage of the wedding banquet.
