Reborn as a Weak Beauty Pampered by All

Chapter 1055: Chapter 1041: The Storm Begins

”What do we do now?”

”Just let it be. Xiao En is our Xuexue’s child. He bears the Loh name and has nothing to do with that boy!”

”Not pursuing Xiao Shen’s mistake?”

”How to pursue it? Xuexue protected it to her death. Though times have changed, if the affair between that boy and Xuexue is exposed, even if it ruins his reputation and leads to his dismissal by the university, what does it ultimately achieve?

Besides, Xuexue’s reputation would be ruined along with his. Do you want that? Moreover, we have to consider Xiao En. He might laugh now, knowing nothing,

but when he grows up and learns that his parents had him due to an accident, and that we ruined his father’s future years later, are you sure he won’t feel estranged from us?”

Elder Loh and Old Lady Li analyzed the entire situation, weighed the pros and cons, and considered carrying on as usual, pretending Xiao Shen never came today. Yet neither could have anticipated that by the next day, the affair between Xiao Shen and Loh Xue had spread throughout the university, and Old Lady Li was called in for questioning by the school authorities.

”Professor Li, you are aware, right?”

Seeing Old Lady Li enter the office, the school leader opened with this remark.

”Yes.”

With a slight nod, Old Lady Li was invited by the school leader to sit on the sofa.

”Teacher.”

Xiao Shen had been summoned before Old Lady Li, and his gaze towards his mentor was filled with guilt.

With a calm look, Old Lady Li glanced past Xiao Shen, as the school leader continued: ”What does Professor Li think of the rumors?”

”Rumors are rumors because they are false, created intentionally to sully my granddaughter Loh Xue and Xiao Shen. Loh En is indeed my granddaughter’s child, but he has no connection to Xiao Shen. His father died due to an accident, I...”

Old Lady Li’s words were cut off by the school leader: ”Professor Li... the matters mentioned in the rumors can be considered private family matters, but Xiao Shen is our university’s employee and he has lectures to give. His character and conduct must be unblemished, or it will damage his image in the students’ eyes. So, I hope Professor Li can be truthful.”

Pausing briefly, the school leader added: ”Because of the tumult caused by the rumors, our university might arrange for an investigation into the truth.”

”What I said is the truth. My granddaughter and Xiao Shen have no relationship whatsoever, and her child has no connection to him. My granddaughter died in childbirth, and her remains have been relocated to Hu City by me and Old Loh, buried in the cemetery in the eastern suburbs. If the university doesn’t believe it, feel free to verify.”

With composure, Old Lady Li remarked: ”I find it strange. My granddaughter just had a child, who did she anger or provoke that they must involve her in such a scandal?!”

”Teacher...”

Xiao Shen was in a particularly complicated mood, knowing his mentor was protecting him, not wanting his future destroyed by this storm. Yet, the situation was at odds with what the teacher claimed. If the school indeed discovers something, there’s no assurance it wouldn’t create issues for the teacher’s work.

”If the leader has no further questions, I’ll take my leave.” Rising, Old Lady Li looked at the school leader placidly.

”Professor Li may leave.”

The school leader was very courteous to Old Lady Li and escorted her out of the office.

And until Old Lady Li left, she didn’t glance back at Xiao Shen even once.
