Reborn as a Weak Beauty Pampered by All

Chapter 997: Chapter 988

Before Kang Li could finish speaking, Ming Wei toddled into the living room: ”Mom, what are you saying about me?”

Kang Li looked at her with indulgence: ”I’m saying you’re smart and clever, lively and cute, and also warm and generous.”

Immediately, Ming Wei’s face turned rosy: ”I’m not as good as Mom says!” The little girl was clearly a bit shy, she said in her childish voice, then turned and ran back to her room.

Old Lady Li saw this and couldn’t help but laugh: ”The little girl is shy!”

Kang Li smiled and made a sound of agreement: ”Her skin is thin.”

”Haven’t the three kids ever mentioned their biological mom at home all these years?” Old Lady Li suddenly asked this, and upon hearing it, Kang Li was momentarily stunned, then shook her head. She smiled and said: ”No, they’ve never mentioned it in front of me. That year when Luo Yanqing and I got married, Ruirui was five, Hanhan and Vivi were twins, they were not yet three. All three kids were very sensible and obedient, they especially listened to me.”

Old Lady Li asked: ”Have you ever thought about having one of your own?”

”I’ve had poor health since childhood, went to a big hospital, and the doctor said it’s hard to conceive.” Kang Li maintained her smile, and upon hearing this, Old Lady Li asked again: ”Does Little Luo have any thoughts?”

Kang Li shook her head: ”He does want another child, but my condition is clear, so we agreed to let nature take its course. If it happens, it happens; if not, we won’t force it. Anyway, we already have Ruirui and the others, we’re not lacking a son or a daughter.”

Whether this was true or not, Old Lady Li could see it clearly in Kang Li’s eyes, knowing that Kang Li was speaking from the bottom of her heart, her face showing a kindly smile: ”One should open their mind like this. In my view, blood relations are important, but children you raise yourself, even without blood ties, if raised well, they turn out no worse than your own.”

”Yes.”

Kang Li nodded. She said, ”There are all kinds of people in this world, there are plenty who don’t care for their biological parents. I’ve never thought about whether they’re biological or not.

Just thinking that since Ruirui and the others call me Mom, I must raise them well and fulfill my duty as a mother. Moreover, as Ruirui and the others have grown, they’ve all truly turned out wonderful!

Also, I’ve never thought about burdening the kids. In the future, when Luo Yanqing and I are old, we’ll just live our lives supporting each other. When we can’t move anymore, we’ll make all arrangements ourselves, not to trouble the kids.”

Old Lady Li was surprised: ”Aren’t you thinking a bit too far ahead?”

Kang Li laughed: ”Isn’t it because you asked, so I just casually shared my thoughts.”

”Sigh!” Old Lady Li sighed with a bit of embarrassment, saying: ”As we age, we tend to talk more. It seems I’ve asked you too much today, don’t take offense!”

Waving her hand, Kang Li smiled and said: ”Not at all. We’re just having a chat, and besides, you only speak so casually because you don’t see me as an outsider.”

”You speak so well, young girl!”

Old Lady Li’s eyes were full of affection, with no trace of awkwardness left. She smiled and said: ”I almost forgot to tell you the name of my student...”

Upon hearing this, Kang Li assumed a listening posture.

Old Lady Li: ”His name is Xiao Shen. His temperament is quite like Little Luo’s. Even his brows and eyes bear a slight resemblance.”

”Really? Then I must pay attention when I meet him.” Kang Li said this, and unconsciously glanced in the direction of Elder Loh’s study. Seeing this, Old Lady Li asked: ”What’s the matter?”
