Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1493: Chapter 874: Suicide

Li Yue Mei hung up the phone with her mother, turned off her cell, and fell onto the bed, crying loudly. How could things come to this?

All these years of persistence and waiting, what do they count for? Gone are her youth, her job, her man... the chaotic thoughts made her heart restless, and the more she pondered, the more her heart grew sorrowful.

...

In the VIP suite of Wenxin Garden, Luo Ye, Zhu Hongyu, Shangguan Yingnuo, Xing Nong, Yaoguang, Xia Yingru, and Yue Qin gathered together.

With just one day left until the wedding, Yue Qin looked at herself transformed in the mirror and could not utter a word for a long time, ”I’m really looking forward to seeing Brother Qi’s expression when he meets Sister-in-law.” Ying Nuo said with a smiling face.

Yue Qin suddenly covered her face, unable to speak through sobs.

Zhu Hongyu stepped forward and hugged her, gently patting her: ”This is what Sister-in-law deserves, marrying her means he is reaching high, cheer up.”

”I know...” Yue Qin nodded while choking with emotion, ”I’m happy, never dreamed I would also have such a day.”

Luo Ye hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward to ask: ”Sister-in-law, do you have any regrets?”

”Regrets?” Yue Qin thought for a while and shook her head, ”Being able to reach this point with him, I have no regrets.”

”There is something Brother Qi entrusted me to tell Sister-in-law.” Luo Ye paused and continued, ”On the day of the wedding, relatives and friends from the village will be coming over.”

Yue Qin suddenly stood up, the mirror fell to the ground with a clang, spun twice, and stopped at Yue Qin’s foot, shattered into several pieces.

”I’m sorry.” Yue Qin quickly squatted down to pick up the pieces, the sharp shards cutting across her fingers, blood seeping out immediately.

Luo Ye hurriedly pulled her up, fortunately, the wound wasn’t deep, it wouldn’t affect the wedding the day after, so he helped her clean the wound, sprinkled some powder, and wrapped it with thin gauze.

”Everyone in the village knows?” Yue Qin started to choke up, ”I don’t mind, but how will Grandma and Mom and Dad take it?”

”Sister-in-law, Brother Qi was worried you might not be able to control your emotions at that time, so he asked me to tell you in advance, to prepare your mind.

Don’t worry, things won’t be as serious as you imagine, Brother Qi said since he married Sister-in-law, it is his responsibility to take care of Sister-in-law, everything belonging to Sister-in-law must not be less.” Luo Ye softly comforted.

”So romantic.” Xia Yingru looked at Yue Qin with starry eyes, ”Sister-in-law, if Liu Xing were this kind to me, I’d be overjoyed.”

She is certainly big-hearted, after Luo Ye told her the detailed situation, she was down for a day, then became lively and spirited again, and even went to find Liu Xing herself, telling him she knew everything, but she wouldn’t give up, nor let go, she firmly believed that one day, he would fall in love with her!

With her like this, Luo Ye and the others accepted her from the bottom of their hearts and were willing to become true friends with her, thus agreeing to let her stay to attend Qi Xing and Yue Qin’s wedding.

”The relatives... agreed to come?” Yue Qin’s mood was very conflicted, both hopeful and anxious.

”Don’t worry, they should be halfway by now...” Luo Ye smiled and comforted her, ”Sister-in-law, from now on your task is to relax, be the most beautiful bride, the rest Brother Qi will handle.

Moreover, I can assure you, most of the relatives understand your situation, even if there are a few who have some issues, under the prevailing circumstances, they have said nothing and came along.”

”Really?” Yue Qin looked incredulous.

”Really.” Luo Ye nodded, ”After all, everyone’s seen Sister-in-law’s efforts over the years, and many people knew about the past between Sister-in-law and Brother Qi.

Actually, sometimes people tend to complicate things themselves, situations like Sister-in-law and Brother Qi’s are not without precedents.

At most people talk for a few days, gradually, everyone adapts, and will say no more, you folks have surely wasted those years in vain.

However, isn’t there a saying ’good things take time’? After all these events, Sister-in-law and Brother Qi will understand how to cherish all the more, thus will be happier.”

Luo Ye’s persuasion finally brought a smile to Yue Qin’s face: ”Luoluo, your mouth can convince the deceased back to life.”

”What I said is the truth.” Luo Ye spread his hands, ”And what I said wasn’t made up by me, it is based entirely on the actual situation reported by the staff who fetched them.”

Yue Qin looked apprehensive: ”How did they report?”

”After the relatives and friends learned that Sister-in-law was marrying Brother Qi, at first they didn’t quite believe, after confirming repeatedly, part of them accepted immediately, saying, Qinzi’s efforts over the years finally paid off.

Another part talked about how this was not quite right, feeling that Brother Qi’s conditions were so good, he shouldn’t lower his status.

But immediately someone refuted, saying without Sister-in-law, Brother Qi wouldn’t have such good conditions, anyway, the final result was, everyone happily got on the bus.”

If Luo Ye lied that no one gossiped, Yue Qin wouldn’t believe it either, thus what Luo Ye narrated was mostly true.

The unreal part was, those who gossiped were actually the majority, those open-minded were the minority, however, among the staff sent to fetch people, there were two psychologists, under their deliberate guidance, most people felt Qi Xing and Yue Qin’s marriage was sensible.

Ultimately, even if there were one or two who insisted on their views, they too chose silence under the prevailing trend. They’re not foolish; the elders of the Qi Family agreed, and the Qi Family today is not what it used to be, so there’s no point in offending people over this matter.

Anyway, for now, there are no odd voices to be heard.

Indeed, upon hearing Luo Ye’s explanation, Yue Qin truly relaxed: ”I’m not afraid of a few people gossiping. Actually, I’ve been worried all along that if the villagers found out I married Qi Xing, Grandma and my parents wouldn’t be able to return to the village.

The result now is beyond my dreams. Heaven truly treats me well. I never, ever thought the final outcome would be like this.

Luoluo, in this life, I really have no regrets. I genuinely feel that all the hardships I’ve endured were worth it...”

”Knock, knock, knock...”

”Come in!”

The door opened, and Xiao He appeared at the doorway in a panic: ”Chairman Luo, Li Yue Mei has attempted suicide.”

Yue Qin, who was just happy, turned pale instantly: ”She... how is she now?” She wished to be together with Qi Xing, but if a life were lost because of it... she dared not think deeply, fearing this matter might cast a shadow over her for life.

Xiao He quickly said: ”The emergency services have already been called, and Li Yue Mei is still conscious for now.”

Yue Qin breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Luo Ye: ”I want to go see her. After all, we were classmates and were once best friends.”

”Oh you...” Luo Ye shook her head, she had never seen someone so foolishly kind. That so-called classmate and best friend had always been scheming to steal her husband, and yet still...

However, if she hadn’t been so kind, she wouldn’t have made that decision years ago and wouldn’t have stayed with the Qi Family all these years.

So, you know, everything has its two sides.

”Sister-in-law, you are the kindest person I’ve ever met...” Xing Nong spoke, emphasizing, ”Really, I’m not lying.”

”Are you mocking me for being foolish?” Yue Qin smiled bitterly, ”Xing Nong, we are of different ages, our thoughts might differ.

Of course, I also know sometimes I’m just a fool who is too kind. But today, if I don’t go, I’ll always be uneasy; if something happens to her, I won’t have peace of mind for the rest of my life.”

”Let’s go then, let’s go and see.” Luo Ye said as she got up, looking at Xiao He, ”Did Li Yue Mei call after attempting suicide?”

”Yes!” Xiao He nodded, ”She regretted after cutting her wrist, so she called Xiao Yang, who is close to her, and Xiao Yang came to find me to ask for leave. I went with her.

When we arrived, we found her lying on the bed with a pool of blood beside it, but after regretting she wrapped it up with gauze, it seems not too much blood was lost.

I didn’t have Chairman Luo’s phone number, and worried that calling through the front desk might leak this, so I ran back personally, since it’s nearby.”

”She’s done it, why worry about it leaking?” Knowing Xiao He deliberately saved Li Yue Mei’s face, Luo Ye snorted coldly, ”Such a person, not much to sympathize with.”

”Yes, Chairman Luo, I won’t do it again next time.”

Luo Ye, both annoyed and amused, glared at her: ”Didn’t talk to Manager Li?” Manager Li is the manager of Wenxin Garden’s Sha City first branch, named Li Xiaoming.

Xiao He hesitated slightly: ”Manager Li’s phone was off, so I came to find Chairman Luo.”

Luo Ye frowned slightly but said nothing more.

When the group arrived at Li Yue Mei’s rented apartment, 911 had just entered the courtyard. Li Yue Mei lay weakly on the bed, groaning, and upon seeing Luo Ye come in, struggled to rise.

”Stay lying down.” Luo Ye pressed her back down, and checked her pulse, seeing the 911 doctors hurriedly entering, she retreated expressionless to the back.

Familiar with Luo Ye’s character, Ying Nuo and Star Manipulating Moonlight knew Li Yue Mei was certainly okay; Lady Luo’s silence meant she wanted Li Yue Mei to be responsible for her actions.

The 911 doctor lifted the gauze to take a few looks, checked the pulse and rolled over Li Yue Mei’s eyes, then instructed the nurse behind him, ”Blood loss is not significant, help her up and take her to the hospital for an IV drip, then she’ll be fine.” He then looked at the room full of people, ”Who is the family member?”

”...”

No one spoke.

Seeing Xiao He and Xiao Yang directing their sights at herself, Luo Ye said, ”Her family is not here, everyone is just her colleagues.”

Li Yue Mei’s eyes showed a flash of disappointment, then she nervously asked the doctor: ”How... how much does it cost?”

”If you were worried about money, why make the cut?” The doctor had no good impression of suicide attempters, hence his tone was very harsh.

Of course, the main reason for his harshness was the belief that the suicide attempter lacked the courage to really die, otherwise, she wouldn’t be in this state now. (To be continued.
