Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1190 - 711-712

”Girl...” The old man beamed with joy, ”Don’t worry, my two sons may be poor, but they’re very hospitable. On their day off, come visit us.

My wife makes these big dumplings that are absolutely delicious. When you come, she’ll make them for you, I’m sure you’ll love them.” He said as he instinctively wiped the corner of his mouth.

Zhao Qianqian nodded and smiled, ”Alright, it’s decided then. When we’re free, we’ll crash at your place for a meal. Just don’t find us annoying then.”

”Such beautiful girls, and they work for the state. That’s quite something.” The old man grinned sincerely.

Lin Meili looked at Luo Ye and Zhao Qianqian with envy, ”I’ve dreamed of becoming a singer since I was a child, but sadly, in this life, it will remain just a dream...”

”What kind of singing can you do? Folk? Pop? Or opera? Which songs can you sing?” The middle-aged man who had been resting on the lower bunk suddenly sat up and naturally directed his question at Lin Meili.

Lin Meili paused for a moment, but answered truthfully, ”I know most of the pop songs, just a few folk songs, and no opera.”

”I am Shao Aisong, the manager of the Promotion Department at Ludong Art and Culture Communication Company. If Miss Lin is interested, you can come visit our company.” The man handed over his business card, ”Our company often takes on commercial performances. Regular performers receive a performance fee of around two to five thousand per month, while the main performers can earn eight to fifteen thousand.”

”Really?” Lin Meili scrutinized the business card in disbelief, ”Are you saying I can be an actor at the Art and Culture Communication Company?”

”Well, it mainly depends on Miss Lin’s singing ability to determine if we want to sign you...” The man tapped his forehead in thought for a moment, ”Perhaps, we can find a quiet place and you can sing me a song first, or after getting off the train, you can come for an interview at our company.”

Lin Meili hesitated, ”Which would be easier to join?”

”About the same.”

”Then, I need to think about it.” Lin Meili lay back on her bed, deep in thought.

Shao Aisong’s gaze swept over to Luo Ye and Zhao Qianqian, fixing on Zhao Qianqian’s face, ”Miss Zhao, commercial performances at Yuanzhou Mine Art Troupe are few, and they’re quite lenient. If you’re willing, you could do part-time work at our company, and the pay is close to that of a full-time employee.”

Zhao Qianqian was about to refuse when Luo Ye secretly pinched her waist, prompting her to appear interested, ”How much can I earn in a month?”

”What are your skills?”

”Folk dance.”

”Not bad, that’s quite good. If you participate once a week, you could earn about three thousand a month, and of course, more performances mean more money.” He said, handing Zhao Qianqian a business card, ”You don’t have to decide now. Think it over carefully and call me when you’ve made up your mind.”

Zhao Qianqian pointed at her nose, ”I don’t need to apply?”

”No need. For a professional talent like you, as long as your looks and figure are up to standard, there’s no need for an interview.” Shao Aisong’s gaze shifted to Luo Ye, ”If Miss Luo is interested, you could give it a try too.” Clearly, he had been listening to the conversation earlier, and knew everyone’s surname well.

Luo Ye’s eyes darted around, ”From what you’re saying, you’re not too satisfied with me?”

”Not at all.” The man rubbed his slightly swollen eyes, ”To be honest, Miss Luo, don’t take this the wrong way, audiences prefer actors who are more relatable and lively, those who can really warm up the atmosphere.”

”This girl is so likable,” the old man couldn’t help but chime in, ”Young man, this girl is truly likable.”

”Sir, I know.” Shao Aisong turned his attention back to Luo Ye, ”If Miss Luo wants, I can introduce you to my friend’s performance company. They specialize in large-scale performances, and Miss Luo’s image fits their needs better.”

”Really?” Luo Ye curled her lips into a smile, ”Mr. Shao is truly a rare kind soul.”

”I’ve been in this business for over ten years, I’ve developed a sharp eye. I can spot potential talent in an instant. With so many people in this train car, why didn’t I choose someone else, right?

Rest assured, our company is absolutely legitimate. I usually don’t get involved in recruitment, it just so happens that I didn’t want to miss this opportunity.” Shao Aisong paused, then continued, ”As for Miss Luo, I genuinely think your temperament and looks are more suitable for main stage performances, which is why I’d recommend my friend’s company. But, of course, if Miss Luo doesn’t trust me, just pretend I didn’t say anything.”

Luo Ye followed Shao Aisong’s gaze around and indeed saw a few girls nearby, looking over with anticipation on their faces, and a couple of the more attractive ones were deliberately strolling back and forth, their intentions clear. She smiled, ”Sorry, please understand, Mr. Shao.”
