Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 834: Chapter 502: Disappointment

”What are you sprinkling?” Noda Keiko leaned in curiosity as Luo Ye busied herself sprinkling medicine on the floor.

”It’s harmless to the human body anyway,” Luo Ye cast a sidelong glance at her, ”Hurry up and go to sleep. Your dad just about inspects your face with a magnifying glass every morning.”

Noda Keiko laughed wryly, ”Father is just concerned about my health, nothing else.”

”Is that so?” Luo Ye smiled meaningfully, ”I hope so.”

Noda Keiko glared at Luo Ye with displeasure, ”You don’t believe me!” She was certain in her tone.

Luo Ye stopped her actions and looked at her seriously, ”Miss Noda Keiko, what reason do you have that would make me believe you?”

”Well...” Noda Keiko’s eyes flickered, she coughed lightly and quickly lay back on the bed, ”I’m going to sleep now, I have to get up early tomorrow.”

Luo Ye pursed her lips and continued to work, the medicine was a treasure she had scavenged from Elder Zhan, refined from one hundred and twelve types of herbs and could guard against hundreds of poisonous insects.

It’s not that she purposely tried to stay strong and not let Feng Qing replace her.

This medicine, she had painstakingly acquired from Elder Zhan and promised him that it would never fall into the hands of outsiders.

She promised, and naturally, she had to fulfill it. Now that she was a life secretary, taking care of Noda Keiko was her duty. If Feng Qing were to be mistakenly harmed, she would owe the Feng Family a favor.

The Wen Family and the Feng Family, the Ye Family and the Feng Family were not friendly, so from whatever angle you look at it, she had to grit her teeth and continue to persist.

Lying in bed, listening to Luo Ye bustling around, Noda Keiko pulled the quilt apart slightly, ”Luo Ye, I know without you saying, this medicine is for repelling snakes and insects. Tell me, does yours work better, or does mine?”

Luo Ye put the small bottle back in her pocket, walked to the sofa to sit down, and then slowly replied, ”You can inform them to let some snakes, spiders, or something like that in. That way, you’ll know whose works better, won’t you?”

”Why are you like this; I’ve told you, that has nothing to do with me.” Noda Keiko said with a quick return to hiding under the covers, covering her head.

”Why act so aggrieved?” Luo Ye looked at the bulge in the bedding amusedly, ”Actually, that day by the spring, you already showed your true face; is there a point in pretending to be miserable anymore?”

Noda Keiko moved, got up slightly leaning against the bedhead, staring at Luo Ye, ”Actually, you and I, shouldn’t be enemies. I don’t dislike you, it’s just...” She paused for a long time, seeing Luo Ye not pressing her, just lying on the sofa watching her quietly, her anger rose inside, she snorted, got back under the covers.

Luo Ye shook her head with a laugh, ignoring her, picked up the reference book on the table, and started to read it carefully.

”Keiko, trust Daddy, this medicine won’t truly harm you. After the matter is done, I’ll send you back to Japan to take the antidote, and you can be restored to how you were; plus, your skin will be even better than before. Keiko, if there’s no alternative, we can only use this method...”

Noda Song’s words replayed around Noda Keiko’s mind, she wrapped the quilt tightly, her mind even more chaotic, touching the small paper packet under her pillow, her heartbeat quickened.

The medicine was given by Father, its purpose was naturally to frame Luo Ye, but she found it difficult to make up her mind. Although Father said there was no side effect after taking the antidote, which girl doesn’t love beauty?

She had just asked Luo Ye about the medicine, hoping that her medicine wouldn’t work; she’d rather take the poison than use such methods.

The wall clock tick-tocked, as Noda Keiko’s breathing gradually evened out.

Luo Ye put down the reference book she was holding, stood up, stretched, walked to the window, and opened a small gap, muttering quietly, ”Ah, it’s the fourth night, really getting hard to endure, need some fresh air to wake up.”

...

”Are you looking for the medicine?”

Noda Keiko was startled, stepping back as she rummaged around Luo Ye, incredulously staring at her, ”You... how did you...”

Luo Ye continued for her, ”How did I wake up so quickly?”

”No... no, that’s not it.” Noda Keiko quickly denied.

”Then what are you looking for?”

”I... I...” Noda Keiko quickly put on a smile, ”I saw you fell asleep here, worried you might get cold, wanted to cover you with a blanket.”

Luo Ye nodded, stretched a long ’Oh’, ”Well, thank you Miss Noda for your concern. But, the blanket...?”

”The blanket...” Noda Keiko laughed awkwardly, ”I... I thought sleeping in clothes would be uncomfortable, wanted to help you take off your coat, then put the blanket over you.”

”Miss Noda is really thoughtful.” Luo Ye’s face suddenly changed, ”Seems like you really take me for a fool!” She pointed at her coat collar, ”Miss Noda wouldn’t want to tell me you don’t know where the zipper and buttons are, would you?”

”The room is dark, can’t see clearly...” Noda Keiko abruptly stopped, her light pink bedside lamp was still on, though for reading the light was a bit dim, it wouldn’t hinder undressing at all.

Luo Ye conjured up a small bottle like magic, ”Miss Noda was going to find this, pour out the medicine, replace it with something else, then tomorrow night, Miss Noda would be bitten by insects and snakes.

And I would be kicked out of this task, then cooperation would be canceled; this way, my guilt would rise to first-class, and the penalty would be heavier.”

```
And as for the Yedai Group, they would thus receive the support of the Moselle Family to expand their market into Europe and America, right?”
”No!” Noda Keiko shook her head, ”Absolutely not.”
Luo Ye raised an eyebrow: ”I’ll be honest with you, I was completely aware of all your actions just now. I wasn’t asleep at all, not even a little!”
”Why... why?” Noda Keiko blurted out and quickly covered her mouth, then waved her hands, ”Miss Luo, I... I was asking... why... why...”
”Can’t find a suitable reason?” Luo Ye curled her lips, ”Isn’t it tiring to pretend? Let me tell you further, ever since you started questioning me about the interrogation solution, I’ve been observing your actions. The smell in the air changed, did you think I wouldn’t notice?”
Noda Keiko widened her eyes: ”Did you open the window on purpose?”
”That’s right.” Luo Ye nodded, ”ST2KYO6, those who smell it will become unconscious unknowingly, and encountering wind will make them pass out faster. To prevent you from waiting too impatiently, I helped you a bit, isn’t that generous?”
Noda Keiko slumped back onto the bed: ”You... you are so... so cunning.”
”It’s not that I’m cunning, it’s that you are too stupid, or rather, you think I’m too stupid...” Pausing, Luo Ye continued, ”Then again, I’m only eighteen, with no experience, it’s not unreasonable for you to think this way.”
Noda Keiko hesitated for a moment and looked at Luo Ye: ”Alright, there’s a saying in China that the victor becomes the king and the loser becomes the outlaw. Tell me, what do you want to do?”
”Everything I guessed earlier, was it correct?”
”More or less.”
Luo Ye nodded: ”Alright then, I want you to pretend as if nothing happened, like before, can you do that?”
”You...” Noda Keiko hesitantly looked at Luo Ye, ”What do you want to do?”
Luo Ye’s lips curved upward: ”A stage for everyone to perform on, after going through all the trouble of planning once, how can I not let everyone enjoy it, right?”
Noda Keiko shook her head: ”I won’t cooperate with you, for the Yodani Family, I can give up my life. But there’s one thing I don’t understand, according to you, the fainting earlier was an act. Can you tell me why you were unaffected by the smell?”
Luo Ye smugly spread her hands: ”A matter of personal constitution.”
”I don’t believe it!” Noda Keiko shook her head, ”I absolutely don’t believe it.”
Luo Ye chuckled softly: ”It’s right that you don’t believe. As for the reason, of course, I won’t tell you.”
...
During breakfast, Yoda Song saw everyone had left, glanced at the device on his wrist, and reassuredly said: ”Hui Zi, how is the progress?”
Noda Keiko’s eyes sparkled, and when she raised her head, her eyes were full of smiles: ”Dad, everything is going smoothly.”
Yoda Song patted his daughter’s shoulder: ”That’s good, implement the first plan tonight. If it doesn’t succeed, go with what Dad said and proceed with the second plan. Hui Zi, you must succeed, this matter is directly related to our other investment.”
”Which one?” Noda Keiko looked at her father full of curiosity.
”Don’t ask about that.” A trace of reluctance crossed Yoda Song’s lowered eyes, then he quickly regained his composure, ”Hui Zi, all the efforts you’ve made for the family, Grandpa has seen them with his own eyes. In the future, you’ll also have the right of inheritance, is that something to be happy about?”
”Happy!” Noda Keiko nodded vigorously, ”I’m different from Yazi, I will marry better, live better, and fight for more rights for the Yodani Family!”
Yoda Song patted his daughter’s head in satisfaction: ”Hui Zi, it’s not in vain that Dad dotes on you, go ahead and eat.”
”Mm-hmm.” Noda Keiko responded, picked up a small spoon, and gracefully started to eat her porridge.
Yoda Song lit a cigarette and fell into thought.
”Dad, I’m also your daughter, your biological daughter, how could you treat me like this?” Noda Keiko silently observed her father, feeling full of disappointment.
If Luo Ye hadn’t presented the evidence to her, she really would have proceeded with her father’s arrangement, and the ultimate result would have been her becoming as ugly as Qiao Xiaowan.
Indeed, her father deceived her about that medicine.
She had always thought that her father cared for her the most, but it turns out, she was merely a pawn to be discarded by him.
Looking back now, last year when the Miyata Family proposed marriage to the Yodani Family, the matter of her father arranging Yazi to be engaged to Miyata Rang, it wasn’t because he respected her feelings and who she loved, but rather, her sister was to take her place.
It turns out, in her father’s heart, her stepmother and sister were the most important, and she was the foolish one indulging in self-pity!
