Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 830: Chapter 499: Filing a Complaint

”Our deceit is fundamentally different.” Dennis waved his hand. ”You and I share the same interests, so you don’t need to pretend in front of me. But my thoughts and Grandpa’s are completely opposed, so I must pretend. We can’t even be compared.”

Luo Ye curled her lips, ”That’s just your one-sided clever argument. The conflict between Qiao Xiaowan and me was entirely instigated by her, whereas your conflict with Qiao Xiaowan was entirely instigated by you. There’s a fundamental difference here.”

”Alright, since you’re unwilling to cooperate, let’s pretend I didn’t say anything. However, you should know, what Anida and I did to you is merely superficial...” Dennis caught a sidelong glance from Noda Hikari in this direction, his expression turned stern, but his words were gentle, ”I hope Miss Luo will weigh the situation for herself. It’s beneficial for both of us. I need to hurry over there so she won’t get suspicious.”

Just as the words fell, Dennis swiftly ran in Noda Hikari’s direction, explaining before she could ask, ”I was warning her.”

Noda Hikari’s lips curled into a light smile, ”I thought you were enchanted by a beauty.”

”In front of Hikari, who can still be considered a beauty?” Dennis sighed, feigning disappointment, ”Unfortunately, Hikari doesn’t like Dennis.”

Noda Hikari blinked her eyes, ”You haven’t seriously pursued me, so how can you be sure I don’t like you?”

”You mean I still have a chance?” Dennis’s eyes lit up, winking at Anida, who sensibly stepped aside.

”Let’s not pretend anymore; you only like my background.” Noda Hikari’s expression grew serious, ”Dennis, don’t treat me like a fool. I’m fully aware of what you’re thinking. I guess you weren’t warning Luo Ye just now but forming an alliance, right?”

”Hikari, what are you guessing?” Dennis looked at her in surprise, ”Even though I don’t like Qiao Xiaowan, she is still a member of the Moselle Family.

Should she get bullied, it’d tarnish the Moselle Family’s image. Do you think I’d do something to destroy my reputation like that? You’re underestimating me.”

”Really?” Noda Hikari scrutinized him with some disbelief, ”You’re... not lying?”

Dennis looked at Noda Hikari full of disappointment, ”Let me ask you this: What advantage would forming an alliance with Luo Ye bring me?”

”Well...” Noda Hikari thought for a moment, ”You don’t like Qiao Xiaowan. Wouldn’t you be happy if she ran into trouble? Isn’t that enough?”

”Is this how you see me?” Dennis’s eyes were full of disappointment, then he shook his head, ”Since you think this way, why not tell Grandpa that from tomorrow on, I won’t hang out with you anymore. How about that?”

”Well...” Noda Hikari hesitated while looking at Dennis, then sighed, ”Forget it, this opportunity is quite important to you and Anida too; don’t anger Grandpa Fan.”

Dennis looked sincerely at her, ”Hikari, I know this opportunity is important to you. Whether the Yedai Group’s business can expand in Europe and America depends critically on the Moselle Family’s support, so I won’t become an obstacle for you, rest assured.”

”Thank you.” Noda Hikari slightly bowed, ”Father sees this opportunity as extremely important, I must not let him down!”

Dennis nodded earnestly, ”I’ll help you. Now, what do you plan to do next?”

”Angering her seems ineffective; her patience is excellent. We can only think of another method, try our best to catch her in a mistake.” Noda Hikari sighed lightly, ”Actually, I feel guilty towards Miss Luo, but for the development of the Yodani Family, I have no other choice.”

Dennis’s eyes glimmered, running a finger along her cheek, ”Hikari, you’re actually a good girl.”

”Unfortunately, he doesn’t like me.” Noda Hikari’s eyes showed a hint of sorrow, ”No matter what I do, he doesn’t like me. Dennis, you’re his good friend; you should know his character well. Tell me, what should I do?”

Dennis sighed deeply, ”Hikari, take my advice: give up. He has someone else in his heart, someone irreplaceable.

No matter what you do, he won’t see it. For her, he can do all sorts of crazy things. She has been in China for so long, and he hasn’t come over—not because he’s given up, but because he’s arranging the entire strategy.

With his personality, once he’s decided on something, it’s hard to change. Until now, he’s never been involved with any woman; do you believe it?”

Noda Hikari’s eyes widened, ”Impossible.”

”Yes, I was also surprised at how much he cares about her. But that’s the truth. I never thought a man could be this devoted to a woman, but he truly is that kind of man.

He’s ruthless to everyone else, can disregard others’ lives, but his thoughts are always with her. Let me tell you, if anyone dares to touch her, he’d take their life, even if it costs him his.” Dennis’s eyes flickered with bewilderment, ”Although we’re the best of friends, I always feel like I don’t understand him at all, truly.”

”I won’t give up; I like a devoted man.” Noda Hikari’s eyes ignited with determination, ”Dennis, can you tell me where she is and what her name is? I want to meet her.”

”Her name is Amy, but I don’t know where she is now. Monique’s love for Amy is too intense; he suspects all men and won’t allow any man to even have a chance with Amy.” Dennis laughed helplessly, ”Including me, he doesn’t trust.”

”Her name is Amy?” Noda Hikari murmured, disappointedly sighing, ”Just finding her by name is really difficult.”

In the distance, Luo Ye had been observing Noda Hikari and Dennis talking all along. It wasn’t that she wanted to eavesdrop; it was simply her responsibility to pay attention.

Anida hesitated for a moment and moved to her side, ”Hello, Miss Luo.”

”Hello.” Luo Ye lightly smiled and nodded at her.

”My brother has already spoken to you, right?”

”Yes, if Miss Anida wants to talk about that matter, let’s just leave it.” Luo Ye gave her a sweet smile, ”I don’t want to repeat it.”

”Alright.” Anida nodded, ”But..., what if I want to exchange it with important information?”

”No discussion!” Luo Ye resolutely shook her head.

”It’s something very important concerning your country,” Anida added.

Luo Ye’s eyes flickered, and her mind raced, as if grasping some threads of thought, yet there was little change on her face: ”I appreciate Miss Anida’s kindness.”

”Don’t you want to know?” Anida looked at her with disappointment, ”I think, given your family background, taking on this job is all about power, right? I can vouch for it, this matter will definitely bring you unexpected merits, how about it?”

”Thank you, I don’t need it.”

”Alright, let’s pretend I didn’t say anything.” Anida shook her head and turned to walk away, hoping Luo Ye would call her back.

Watching her hesitant footsteps, Luo Ye’s lips curled up: ”Miss Anida.”

”Hmm?” Anida turned back excitedly.

Luo Ye pointed at her left foot: ”Your shoelace is untied.”

”Oh, thank you.” Anida responded disappointedly and bent over.

Feng Qing, who had been watching from a distance, couldn’t hide the smile on her lips, then pretended to look at the sky...

...

Nothing else happened on the way back, and it was already past three in the afternoon when they returned to the Fuxin Hotel. Luo Ye, acting as the life secretary, helped Noda Hikari take a bath, and it was nearly four o’clock.

Lady Noda’s difficulty in being served was absolutely no less than yesterday. Fortunately, Luo Ye wasn’t truly an inexperienced little girl. Her calm and slightly arrogant demeanor made Noda Hikari feel less interested the more she fussed, and eventually, she lost interest and stopped.

Retreating to the outer room, Luo Ye pondered for a moment, signaled to Feng Qing, and then turned to leave the room.

”What is it?” Feng Qing followed her out and asked urgently.

Luo Ye lowered her voice: ”I have an urgent matter to attend to, could you help look after things? If the lady gets troublesome, just bear with it, alright?”

Feng Qing waved her hand generously: ”Go ahead, no need to be polite with me.”

Over half an hour later, Luo Ye quietly returned. Feng Qing smiled at her and lowered her voice: ”She must be exhausted, she’s been sleeping the whole time.”

”That’s good.” Luo Ye’s lips curled, and she rested her head on Feng Qing’s shoulder, dozing off.

Feng Qing looked amused at Luo Ye, who was napping on her shoulder like a kitten. She couldn’t help but smile. It was in such moments that she really seemed like a little girl, while her usual demeanor made one forget her age completely.

...

After dinner, Minister Qin from the investment department personally called, asking Luo Ye to meet him in room 601.

Minister Qin, in his fifties, had a slightly bald head, gray hair at the temples, and crow’s feet radiating from the corners of his eyes. At first glance, he seemed very tired.

”Xiao Luo, sit down. We need to have a good talk.” Minister Qin gestured to the chair opposite him.

”Please go ahead.” Luo Ye knew well what the conversation would be about, wore a serene smile on her face, and respectfully took a seat opposite Minister Qin.

Minister Qin gave a light cough and began: ”Xiao Luo, technically, I don’t have any say in the Fierce Tiger’s matters, but the Yedai Group’s investment is extremely important for the country.

This isn’t just about money; it’s the first such huge investment we’ve received since the financial crisis. If this deal goes through, it will directly stimulate the inflow of future foreign investments.

On the other hand, if this deal falls through, you can imagine how significant the impact will be. Xiao Luo, understand that you represent not just yourself but the whole nation. Foreigners won’t think your mistakes are forgivable just because you’re young, understand?”

Luo Ye looked calmly at him: ”I certainly understand the reasoning, but I’m unaware of where I went wrong. Please enlighten me, Minister Qin.”

It’s the second day of the New Year, and Nu’an wrote this in advance to post. It’s said that if you write during the New Year, you won’t have any drafts saved for the year and will be busy all year. Nu’an was afraid, so she pushed herself to finish and post it.
