Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 819: Chapter 492: Decision (Guys, Happy Little New Year!)

”Overall performance... not bad.” Feng Tianzhi said leisurely, glancing around, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips, ”Everyone’s eager to know their scores and rankings now, isn’t it?”

”Yes!” As the crowd answered in unison, Xing Nong rolled her eyes and muttered softly, ”Obviously!”

”Yan Xingnong!”

Xing Nong was startled, hastily straightened up, ”Here!”

”Step out!”

”Yes!”

”You...” Feng Tianzhi pointed at her with a smile, ”Do the test again.”

”Wh... Why?” Xing Nong reflexively asked back.

Feng Tianzhi’s face suddenly darkened, ”What is the duty of a soldier?”

”Report to Captain, the soldier’s duty is to obey orders!” Xing Nong shouted loudly, then turned around, running a few steps forward to stand firm, raised her gun, loaded it, and quickly dashed out, her small figure moving busily but orderly while steel targets fell one by one in response...

Original Team A members showed surprise in their eyes, although Fierce Tiger had been established for more than half a year, its mission scope was defined at its inception, so in these months, the local team members had mostly focused on cultural training.

Although the Academy Faction balanced military skills with cultural courses, since Feng Tianzhi himself was the captain of Team 5 at GF University, much of the Academy Faction’s training took place at GFU, thus true interaction time between the Academy and Local Factions was scarce.

To local faction members, academy faction members, no matter how capable, were just over a year in school kids, and moreover gun skills cannot be honed overnight, hence Xing Nong’s performance utterly astounded them.

Under everyone’s surprised gaze, Xing Nong returned, stood firm, ”Reporting to Captain Feng, Yan Xingnong completes the task as per your instruction!”

”Return to the team!”

”Yes!” Xing Nong reluctantly pursed her lips, returned to the team, throwing a sideways glance at Feng Tianzhi.

”Yan Xingnong!”

”Here!” Mou Qiu’er was about to cry, she realized how she ignored the fact that Madman’s behavior cannot be measured with normal thinking, could she take back her previous expression?

Feng Tianzhi scrutinized her, ”Demonstrate once more!”

Xing Nong felt a sudden rush of blood to her head, she couldn’t stand him eyeing Luoluo, or his frequent little tricks with Yaoguang either?

She seriously suspected Feng Tianzhi was using public matters for private revenge, uncle could bear but aunt couldn’t, she was ready to expose this, today she must get clear on this...

Seeing Xing Nong’s expression wasn’t right, Luo Ye quickly shouted, ”Report!”

”Step out!”

Luo Ye swiftly stepped up, ran two steps forward, stood firm, and looked at Feng Tianzhi with a serious expression, ”Report to Captain Feng, I am willing to demonstrate once.”

Feng Tianzhi nodded slightly, ”Alright, if your speed doesn’t match the previous test, you’ll run ten laps around the field as punishment afterwards.”

”Yes!”

Luo Ye responded, quickly turned to the starting line, raised her gun, loaded the bullet, squinted her eyes, took a deep breath, and quickly dashed out.

In the distance atop a tower, a middle-aged man handed the binoculars to an elder beside him, ”Foster father, she’s out again, take a look.”

The elder took the binoculars, looked for a while, then smiled warmly, ”Xiao Zhi indeed has good judgement, this child excels in every aspect.”

”Then...” the man hesitated, ”Should we order the time to be extended?”

The elder waved his hand, ”Extending it further will arouse suspicion.” He sighed, ”Let’s head back.”

The man paused, ”Not meeting the Young Master?”

”No.” The elder stood up, frowned a bit, then sighed again, ”His character... that matter... must not be disclosed to him, otherwise, it could backfire.”

”Yes.” The man replied, following step by step behind the elder as they walked out.

Meanwhile, Luo Ye had already returned and stood firm, Feng Tianzhi nodded in satisfaction, ”Not bad, although not faster than the first time, you weren’t slower either, return to your team.”

”Yes!”

Luo Ye responded, then retreated.

Feng Tianzhi glared at Mou Qiu’er standing nearby, ”Yan Xingnong, are you planning to root yourself here? Hurry and return to your team!”

”When did you let me go?” Xing Nong muttered privately, saw Luo Ye’s disapproving eyes, dared not be stubborn and replied obediently, ”Yes!”

”At ease!”

”Attention!”

Feng Tianzhi glanced around, a smile played at the corner of his lips, ”Fierce Tiger needs all-round talents, this was already told to everyone from the very beginning.”

The leaders are aware of some team members’ rejection toward the student members, and I am aware of it too. The student members... also know it well. Fierce Tiger is a flexible team, with flexible systems, flexible selections, flexible appointments... and so on.

Therefore, if you want to stay in Fierce Tiger and become an outstanding team member, you must put away your preconceptions; here, seniority does not count.

Not only now, but even in the future, any member who joins and surpasses the current level and has no issues with character can be appointed without constraint.

Through today’s selection, I believe everyone has seen clearly that the student members are not at the level you imagined.

We are a team, a whole. We must compete while also recognizing each other’s strengths and weaknesses to constantly improve ourselves. Opportunities are only for the truly strong.” At this point, Feng Tianzhi paused and unfolded the piece of paper in his hands, ”Now, I announce the results.

First place, Liang Dongcheng, 20 seconds, all targets hit.

Second place, Zhan Hao, 21 seconds, all targets hit.

Third place, Lv Shaojie, 22 seconds, all targets hit.

Fourth place, Luo Ye, 22.5 seconds, all targets hit.

Fifth place, Zhang Hong, 23 seconds, all targets hit.

Sixth place, Yan Xingnong, 24 seconds, all targets hit.

Seventh place, Wu Zetian, 25 seconds, all targets hit.

Eighth place, Wang Xingcheng, 25.2 seconds, all targets hit.

Ninth place, Feng Qing, 26.5 seconds, all targets hit.

Tenth place, Ji Sisi, 27 seconds, all targets hit...”

After Feng Tianzhi announced everyone’s scores, the atmosphere became a long silence. The top ten comprised six from the Academy Faction and just four from the Local Faction, which was hard for the Local Faction to accept.

”I know the veteran members have some doubts in their hearts about the scores, but you all witnessed Luo Ye and Yan Xingnong’s performances just now. Think back, will you still question it?

This result doesn’t mean veteran members are inferior to student members. Instead, it shows that your mindset is problematic. You want too much to win, too much to overpower others, which actually throws you off balance, right?”

”Yes!” Most veteran members lowered their heads. They were selected into Fierce Tiger because their cultural scores in Team A were the best. Therefore, during the competition, they thought about being suppressed by the elite members in Team A and wanted to regain face. The result was unsatisfactory due to their unstable mindset.

”Student members, do not think you’re outstanding just because I said this. You account for a large proportion of the top ten; however, look at the later rankings. Is there a gap between you and the veteran members?”

”Yes!” The trainees ranked lower also bowed their heads.

Feng Tianzhi glanced around and waved his hand: ”Alright, knowing where the problem lies, pay attention to it in the future. Fierce Tiger is a team that requires discipline but also gives members sufficient freedom. I hope everyone, after understanding your strengths and weaknesses, can strive to become the best version of yourselves.

Now I announce the team members participating in this mission: the selected male members are Liang Dongcheng and Zhan Hao, the selected female members are Luo Ye and Feng Qing.”

...

Office of the A Division station.

After reading the materials in his hand, Feng Tianzhi slammed them on the table: ”General, you handle it as you see fit, I don’t want to explain.”

”Xiao Feng.” General Xia looked at him helplessly, ”If there were plans to do something about you, I wouldn’t need to rush to Sha City to find you.

Honestly, Fierce Tiger being transferred to Division A and you becoming a member of Division A was something we didn’t anticipate. I quite admire your way of doing things.

However, after all, we are active duty personnel. There are some matters that need attention where possible. We must always consider the perspectives of those beneath us, right?”

Feng Tianzhi seriously looked at General Xia: ”I’d like to ask, you are aware of Luo Ye’s and Feng Qing’s scores, right?”

General Xia nodded: ”I clearly know their scores and capabilities.”

”Then that settles it. The selection wasn’t a personal decision of mine; they were selected based on their true abilities. If I like Luo Ye or because Feng Qing is my sister, is it suitable to doubt my impartiality?

Moreover, for you to bring me this letter implies that you also think the allegations are somewhat valid, implying you approve of the other party’s speculation, which makes me very disappointed!”

”Xiao Feng.” General Xia sighed, helplessly, ”Alas, I...”

Feng Tianzhi leaned back: ”Do you feel there’s nothing more to say to me? Think I’m being unreasonable?”

”Since the matter has come to this, I may as well speak straight.” General Xia became serious too. ”I don’t want to influence your character. I’ve always felt that although you act a bit differently from ordinary people, you are still upright.

However, regarding Luo Ye, I’m very disappointed in you. The situation with Ye Xuan and Luo Ye has almost concluded. Is it interesting for you to intervene with unusual means?”

Feng Tianzhi’s eyes widened sharply: ”Unusual means, what do you mean?”

”The time Ye Xuan spent outside kept getting extended. Do you feel that’s not an issue?” General Xia sighed, ”Originally, this matter had nothing to do with me, and I shouldn’t have said anything.

However, after reading this complaint letter, I felt I couldn’t stay silent any longer. Some things the complainant said are like chasing the wind, but your feelings for Luo Ye weren’t wrong, right? You even openly declared them; is that fair to Ye Xuan?”

”You mean Ye Xuan hasn’t returned because of me?” Feng Tianzhi pointed at himself, smiling, ”I truly like Luo Ye, and I indeed declared it openly, but I would never use such means to create opportunities for me; I disdain it!” (To be continued.
