She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 866: Chapter 907: Lacking Tact

“Visiting hours have started.” Sister Guo pushed the door open and entered the room. Seeing that there was no smoking or arguing inside, she quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

She had just come from Captain Chen’s ward, where she once again smelled smoke. Moreover, the wind outside was strong, yet the windows in the room were open. It was clear that someone felt guilty for their misdeeds.

Hai Shen stood up and bid farewell with a smile, “I’ll be leaving now. Take good care of yourself; we’re all waiting for your return.”

“Thank my old leader for me.”

“Alright.”

Hai Shen inconspicuously glared at Song Huwen, just about to call her, when she preemptively stood up and walked over to Sister Guo.

“Nurse Chief Guo.”

Sister Guo paused, looking more closely at her before recognizing her, “So it’s Nurse Chief Song.” Everyone in the medical system had heard of Song Huwen, the top student who had just graduated from Southern Medical University, said to have been outstanding during her schooling. Upon graduation, she was immediately recruited by August 1 Hospital to become the head nurse of the internal medicine department.

She recognized this face; she had attended a meeting with several hospitals last time.

“I’ll call you Sister Guo,” said Song Huwen, adopting a professionally serious expression, speaking sternly: “Sister Guo, Captain Xu is a hero in our district, staying in the Main Hospital’s special care ward. How can you allow someone wearing muddy shoes to enter? What if there’s an infection? Who will be responsible if complications occur?” As she spoke, she put on a look of distress, “Sister Guo, you are a veteran in the medical system, a model we should all learn from. How can you be so irresponsible? I’m really glad I didn’t choose the Main Hospital back then.”

In fact, she had long regretted not coming to the Main Hospital. Had she known Xu Qigang was hospitalized there, she would have used any means necessary to come.

Being close to the water gets the moon first, she wouldn’t have been so embarrassed today.

Sister Guo’s face turned red from her words, feeling very uncomfortable, yet she couldn’t deny that her reasoning was flawless. It was indeed her oversight; shoe covers were supposed to be worn. Everyone else had changed, except a young girl who hadn’t. At the time, there weren’t enough shoe covers, and with the elderly being impatient, it was overlooked.

Captain Xu’s recovery was remarkable; in fact, there was no longer any danger from his injuries, and a sterile environment wasn’t necessary. However, since the hospital valued this and had specific regulations, she had to comply.

“I’m sorry, it’s my oversight.” Sister Guo’s rigorous work attitude made her admit her mistake immediately, then looked at An’an apologetically, “Young lady, could you please step outside for a moment? I need to disinfect the ward.”

Sheng An stood awkwardly in place, foolishly looking at her sister, then down at her slightly muddy cloth shoes. There was actually not much mud, just a little at the edges. She had specially changed into shoes she cherished in the morning before leaving. It was still dark as she rushed to catch the train, which was why they got muddy.

She didn’t expect this would affect her brother-in-law’s condition.

Would her sister be angry?

“It’s okay!” Sheng Ning patted An’an’s shoulder, “Some people just like to make a fuss.” Saying that, she walked directly up to Song Huwen, “Cousin Hai Lan, I find you truly annoying. First, you try to take my husband, and now you’re deliberately targeting my sister. Is this your home? Why are you meddling?”

Sheng Ning’s blunt words made it hard for Song Huwen to maintain her confidence. “I am a healthcare worker; this is for Captain Xu’s own good. Why are you being ungrateful?”
