She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 362: Chapter 371: Dead for Eighteen Years

I simply couldn’t believe it, a young lady born with a silver spoon, would actually be with a rural man back then. And she even had a child, if this child really exists, that would be like finding a real golden phoenix.

Even the entire Qin Family could benefit from this.

Originally, when looking for her daughter, Su Yun didn’t want to tell anyone. But you can’t hide a fire with paper, since people were needed to help with the search, the reason would eventually come out.

So Su Hai didn’t bother to hide it either, and when he got to the County Armed Forces Department, he spilled the beans.

The siblings had some unpleasantness over this.

“There is, how could there not be?” Su Yun rushed in, flustered, hand over her mouth and looking utterly incredulous.

“What happened to Qin Youmin? You tell me clearly!” She grabbed the minister’s collar in her agitation, twisting it out of shape.

“Captain Su, Qin Youmin really has been dead for eighteen years.”

“That’s impossible… How could he die?” Su Yun slumped into a chair, “If he’s dead, what about my daughter? What about my daughter?”

The reason she left her daughter behind was that Qin Youmin was a good man and surely would have treated her daughter well.

“Alright, you go prepare the vehicle now, let’s take a trip to the village!” Su Hai stood up, kindly straightened the minister’s collar, and apologized. “My sister is just too emotional, don’t take it to heart. I’ll take responsibility for anything.”

“How could I, it’s my duty to do this.” The Su Family had a great favor owed to him, not to mention doing this small favor. Even if he had to strip off his camouflage uniform, he wouldn’t utter a word of refusal.

Over the years, he had heard the old leader always liked girls very much. If he could really help the old leader find his granddaughter, that would be a great accomplishment.

“Thank you for your hard work!”

“I’ll go prepare the vehicle then, we should be able to reach the village before noon.”

“Mm-hmm.”

After the minister left, the kind smile on Su Hai’s face instantly froze. He whirled around, his eyes seething with anger as he looked at Su Yun.

Su Yun was still wallowing in her own grief when she noticed the piercing gaze. She looked up to meet Su Hai’s icy eyes and couldn’t help trembling.

“Xiao Hai, what… what’s wrong?” Her younger brother had always been so tolerant and caring towards her as his sister. He had never looked at her with such a foreign gaze before, which made Su Yun feel very uncomfortable.

“Sister, after all these years, have you only just been suffering from insomnia?” Su Hai said through clenched teeth.

“Why… why are you asking me this?” Su Yun felt even more uncertain, not expecting her dearest brother to also blame her.

“Qin Youmin has been dead for eighteen years, do you know how old the child was when he died? Do you know how old the child was when you abandoned them?” Just thinking about it made his heart hurt like it was being sliced with a knife.

The child was only eighteen months old, just born and already abandoned by their birth mother. They had thought there was a loving father, which would make the Su Family feel a bit better. But the father died early too!

“I… I know!” Tears streamed down Su Yun’s face uncontrollably. “Xiao Hai, you have to believe me, I didn’t want this to happen. I truly didn’t expect Youmin to die so young, if I had known it would be like this, I would’ve definitely brought the child back to the city.”

“You should’ve brought the child back to the city in the first place.”

Su Yun still didn’t understand why her father and brother were so angry. After being sent down to the countryside, getting married for survival was common. It wasn’t a stain because it was for survival. But to cruelly abandon a child, that was simply unforgivable.
