Chapter 189: Chapter 188: Entering Demon Suppression Valley

It wasn’t long.

The commander of the Cangxing Martial Arts Academy on the battlefield of Demon Suppression Valley, Vice Dean He Dong, arrived with a group of armored soldiers.

These human soldiers were in two groups.

One group wore armor similar to that of the Defense Army in Unparalleled County.

The other group wore silver battle armor. Despite being dented and somewhat damaged, the armor still shone brilliantly, and a dragon pattern was engraved on the chest of each.

This was the Dragon Guard, the most elite troops of the Great Zhou Dynasty. Joining the Dragon Guard required at least a Sea of Qi Realm cultivation. The requirements for a Spirit Master were slightly more lenient, but one still needed to be a Tier Two Spirit Master!

The Dragon Guard squad following He Dong consisted of eighteen members. Ye Chen sensed that none of them were in the Sea of Qi Realm; there were ten in the Elemental Wheel Realm, two in the Primordial Embryo Realm, five Tier Four Spirit Masters, and one Tier Five Spirit Master!

The Defense Army and this Dragon Guard squad were tasked with escorting the injured from the Cangxing Martial Arts Academy off the battlefield of Demon Suppression Valley.

He Dong called Hu Wenhui and Ye Chen to him.

Hu Wenhui immediately pleaded guilty, saying, ”Vice Dean He, this was my negligence. My carelessness led to such significant casualties. I will enter Demon Suppression Valley and won’t leave until I’ve killed ten Mortal Transformation Realm demons!”

He Dong frowned slightly, saying, ”Instructor Hu, you are indeed at fault for this incident, but forget about killing ten Mortal Transformation Realm demons. Just do your best in Demon Suppression Valley.”

Hu Wenhui lowered his head without speaking.

”Vice Dean He, are there any concerns about using the Dragon Guard for escort?” Ye Chen asked worriedly.

He Dong shook his head, saying, ”Ye Chen, I know you hold a great deal of animosity towards Zhou Chengyun, but there’s no doubting the strength of the Dragon Guard. Even if a Mortal Transformation Realm demon appears, it won’t withstand the power of this Dragon Guard squad.

There’s even less need to worry about problems within this Dragon Guard squad.

Currently, there are basically no traces of the Demon Race in the surrounding area. If even a Dragon Guard squad like this can’t ensure the safety of our Cangxing Martial Arts Academy’s injured, then Zhou Chengyun’s position as Prince Yong is as good as over.”

Ye Chen understood the implication of He Dong’s words.

Arranging for the Dragon Guard to escort means Zhou Chengyun would absolutely not dare to have any ill intentions toward this batch of the Martial Arts Academy’s injured!

Then, Ye Chen also explained his intention to enter Demon Suppression Valley to He Dong.

After hearing Ye Chen’s intentions, He Dong said sternly, ”Ye Chen, Dean Ouyang came by recently. I’ve already discussed with Dean Ouyang to thoroughly investigate the Spirit Ruins Sect’s attack on you. Don’t be impatient. If Zhou Chengyun is truly involved, the Cangxing Martial Arts Academy will definitely seek justice for you.”

Ye Chen insisted on his decision.

Moments later.

Seeing that he couldn’t persuade Ye Chen, He Dong said, ”Alright then, after entering Demon Suppression Valley, you must not act alone.”

When a group of Defense Army and Dragon Guard squad members escorted the injured of the Cangxing Martial Arts Academy away, Ye Chen also followed He Dong and Hu Wenhui to Demon Suppression Valley!

Demon Suppression Valley is the real battlefield!

......

The camp where Zhou Chengyun resided.

The news that Ye Chen was about to enter Demon Suppression Valley had already reached Zhou Chengyun.

A man in silver battle armor stood in front of Zhou Chengyun.

Zhou Chengyun said, ”Liu Chuantian, you know what to do, right?”

”I understand Prince Yong’s intentions, but if Grand Commander Qin Hao finds out...” the man known as Liu Chuantian showed some hesitation.

”Qin Hao has repeatedly disobeyed my orders and acted on his own initiative. If it weren’t for the battlefield taboo against changing commanders, I would have stripped him of his position as Grand Commander long ago.

Just follow my instructions, and once the task is done, you can drop the ’Deputy’ from your Deputy Commander title.

Moreover, you don’t have to act personally. Killing Ye Chen can be accomplished by the Celestial Sword Sect. Just assist the Celestial Sword Sect in creating the right conditions when they act.”

Liu Chuantian said, ”Understood, my lord!”

Zhou Chengyun waved his hand, saying, ”By the way, your brother Liu Chuanfeng doesn’t have a good reputation in the army. You should warn him; otherwise, even I would find it inconvenient to promote him.”

”Thank you, Prince Yong.”

”You may leave.” Zhou Chengyun waved his hand.

Liu Chuantian exited.

Zhou Chengyun clenched his fist tightly, smashing the table before him to pieces!

”Ye Chen, you have quite a tough life. The Spirit Ruins Sect couldn’t kill you, and this time I went to great lengths to arrange for a Royal Race member of the Demon Race to deal with you, yet you still survived. I refuse to believe your luck is unbeatable! Once you enter Demon Suppression Valley, I will make sure you never return!”

Motuo, the Royal Race member of the Demon Race, was actually arranged by Zhou Chengyun. While deploying the Dragon Guard army, he deliberately left a breach, allowing Motuo to slip quietly out of Demon Suppression Valley. Then, through strategic placement of troops along the way, he lured Motuo to the area where Ye Chen was recovering.

Everything was done seamlessly.

Zhou Chengyun originally believed Ye Chen was bound to die.

But now he received news that Motuo was dead, and he was killed by Ye Chen, though Zhou Chengyun lacked any detailed information.

The reason Zhou Chengyun was so intent on killing Ye Chen was that last time, Ye Chen killed his attendant Yan Mingkuan right in front of him. Yan Mingkuan was the son of the Prime Minister, and Zhou Chengyun had to account for it to the current Prime Minister.

Besides, his sixth brother Zhou Chengqian also wanted him to kill Ye Chen. Zhou Chengyun knew that his ability to secure the title of Prince Yong and to lead the Three Thousand Dragon Guards to fight for merit was because his sixth brother Zhou Chengqian was helping him.

His sixth brother, Zhou Chengqian, gifted and talented, is destined to enter a broader, grand world. With Zhou Chengqian’s help, Zhou Chengyun is confident he can vie for the throne. But if this affair goes wrong, his sixth brother might not help him anymore...

So, regardless of anything, Zhou Chengyun must kill Ye Chen!

......

A series of sunken valleys connect into one; this is the Demon Suppression Valley.

Ye Chen finally saw the place he had heard about many times.

A rich scent of blood soared from this valley.

Countless fierce traces of battles unfolded in Ye Chen’s view.

Next to Ye Chen, He Dong said, ”Ye Chen, this is the real battlefield. Every corner you see is soaked with the blood of the Human Race.

Once you enter, the battles you face will be unlike before.

You will encounter many unfamiliar people, fighting side by side, entrusting life and death to each other.

You might even fall into encirclement by the Demon Race, isolated and helpless.

Are you truly ready to enter Demon Suppression Valley?”

Ye Chen’s face showed a determined expression and said, ”I also know that there are many who want me dead. But since I have decided, I won’t retreat even half a step.”

He Dong nodded and then said, ”Instructor Hu, take Ye Chen to the southwest region of Demon Suppression Valley to meet our Cangxing Martial Arts Academy people.”

”Yes, Dean He.”

Hu Wenhui looked at Ye Chen and said, ”Let’s go.”

Immediately, the two figures flew out and entered Demon Suppression Valley.

Until their figures disappeared from He Dong’s sight, he withdrew his gaze and dashed into another direction of Demon Suppression Valley.

Before long, He Dong arrived at an area in Demon Suppression Valley where no battles were occurring.

The surroundings were scattered with fragments of the Demon Race and Human Race.

Moments later.

A man in silver armor, with dark skin and a resolute face, appeared before He Dong.

”Disciple Ren Yong, greets Master!”

The man cupped his hand and knelt on one knee!

He Dong extended both hands, lifting Ren Yong up, and said, ”Ren Yong, you are now a Centurion in the Dragon Guard Army, no need to kneel even before the Zhou Emperor; I am unworthy of your bow.”

”Without Master’s guidance back then, I would not have achieved what I have today. No matter where I go in the future, I will never forget Master’s grace,” Ren Yong said.

”Ren Yong, contacting you now will have a great impact on you, but I have to ask you for a favor.”

”Please, Master, speak your mind.”

”Ye Chen has entered Demon Suppression Valley to clear the Demon Race. I worry someone might harm him, so I placed him in the area you’re responsible for guarding, hoping you will keep an eye on him.”

”I have heard of the matter between Ye Chen and the Celestial Sword Sect. Master, rest assured, Ye Chen is fighting for the Great Zhou. If the Celestial Sword Sect dares to act, I will show no mercy!”

”Also, be cautious within the Dragon Guard,” He Dong said.

Ren Yong looked puzzled and said, ”Master, Deputy Commander Qin Hao governs the army strictly and is upright and honest, there shouldn’t be any issues.”

”I know of Qin Hao, I deeply respect him; I’m not worried about Qin Hao but Zhou Chengyun. Recently, at the battlefield surrounding Demon Suppression Valley, there have been several unusual Demon Race assaults, raising suspicions...” He Dong recounted the recent incidents Ye Chen encountered.

After speaking, Ren Yong’s eyes flickered with anger and said, ”The timing Master mentioned, the Dragon Guard Army was under mobilization orders, all issued by Zhou Chengyun!

Zhou Chengyun, that bastard!

Our Dragon Guard shed blood and sweat fighting the Demon Race in Demon Suppression Valley, Ye Chen is also fighting for the Great Zhou Dynasty, and as a prince, he dares such actions. I must report this to Deputy Commander Qin Hao for thorough investigation!”

He Dong shook his head and said, ”Do not spread it yet, if you say it now, your connection with Cangxing Martial Arts Academy will be exposed. If Zhou Chengyun wants to harm Ye Chen, he will first guard against you.

So, for now, secretly protecting Ye Chen is the best choice.”

Ren Yong thought for a moment and said, ”Master, I understand.”

At this time.

A tremendous commotion came from the southwest region of Demon Suppression Valley.

Ren Yong’s expression tightened.

He Dong said, ”Go quickly.”

”Master, take care too!”

Ren Yong bowed respectfully to He Dong once more, then quickly rushed back to the area he was guarding.

He Dong sighed again, muttering to himself, ”Dean Ouyang, now I finally understand why you secretly accepted Ren Yong as a disciple back then. It seems you had foreseen something like today would happen.”
