Chapter 188: 188. Dragon Bone Alchemy

The upper limit of Magic Alchemy is undoubtedly higher than that of the Demon Hunter’s Alchemy.

Lann had read many times in various advanced alchemical works about how Alchemy Masters infused ’love’, ’courage’, and other such things into alchemy or certain rituals.

The convenience of magic lies here.

With technological means, it is necessary to have fully understood the structure of dragon bones, or even the biological characteristics of dragons, before one can confidently extract the effective components that allow them to keep growing from biological materials.

Sometimes these components may ultimately be proven not to exist in the bones but somewhere in the brain or internal organs.

But for magic, as long as the dragon indeed possesses the characteristic of ’continuous growth’, then whether it’s its fossilized bones, scales, or flesh.

These have all been imbued with the concept of ’continuous growth’ in mysticism, turning this concept into a usable state.

Thus, alchemy can extract this ethereal power for other uses.

However, this process requires a complete alchemical procedure.

In the past, encountering a never-before-seen new material and tailoring an alchemical formula for this material was the path for countless alchemists to leave their mark in history.

And Lann now, has already set the procedure for dragon bones.

”White quassia flower, horn moss... ready.”

”Crucible, magic infusion runes... ready.”

Lann fluidly placed all the instruments to be used in their proper positions.

As for the usage and dosage, he had the bio-intelligent brain perform multiple calculations when drafting the alchemy procedure with Mentos.

”Are you ready?”

Margaret asked curiously from the side.

Lann snapped his fingers, igniting the fire source under the crucible with a mini [Igni Magic Seal].

”I have started.”

The Demon Hunter methodically added various specially treated materials into the crucible.

In this alchemy process, not only will these materials be used for their medicinal properties, but the treatment processes they went through also hold various meanings in mysticism.

These mystical meanings will ensure that during the final extraction process, the ’growth power’ within the dragon bones is extracted.

A high-level alchemy can actually be seen as a small-scale ritual held in a crucible.

Margaret, despite having no interest or talent in alchemy, was extraordinarily strong in other aspects as a Female Warlock capable of being a dean.

Every material Lann threw in, she could instantly recognize the mystical significance imposed on it.

It was this keen insight that kept her jaw dropped throughout the process.

Originally, she thought Lann only discovered some local dragon bone-based formula in some alchemical books and slightly improved it.

Just like what he did to the [Maribo Forest] or [Stanford’s Elixir], limited adaptation.

That was already a stunning talent.

But now as she watched, Margaret suddenly realized one thing.

Today’s alchemy is... entirely original?!

The blonde beauty stared at Lann’s profile in the firelight, blinking blankly.

She thought she deeply understood Lann’s strengths and weaknesses, but now she realized this young Demon Hunter seemed to become more extraordinary every day.

This kind of having new feelings every day, how to say it...

She liked it more!

”I said, did you call me over to infuse magic power?”

Margaret approached Lann’s crucible with interest, noticing a familiar set of magic runes on its edge.

A rune group forming a ring left a deliberately crafted gap.

Margaret could tell at a glance that this was a magic input port.

”The growth power inside the dragon bones is enormous. I estimate that merely inputting magic power alone might exhaust me, but much better with your help.”

Lann smiled at Margaret.

The magic power the Female Warlock could muster with a snap of her fingers was more than enough to drain Lann.

Following Lann’s gaze, Margaret aptly infused her magic power into the rune group.

The rune band on the crucible gradually lit up, causing the turbid liquid inside to change color and churn.

Infusing this level of magic power was not more exhausting for Margaret than performing her tricks with Lann in bed.

”You haven’t added your dragon bone yet.”

”Doing so now.”

With that, Lann fetched a palm-sized piece of dragon bone from an Alchemy Pouch at his back, a piece he had acquired from Shuofu.

He tossed it with a ”plop” into the thickening liquid.

Margaret’s expression darkened.

”You used such a small piece yet had me move such a large chunk over?”

”The dosage I calculated was based on this bone piece. However, I don’t know how much product will come out after this alchemy, so better safe than sorry.”

”Oh?” Margaret was noncommittal to this explanation.

”You even designed an unprecedented alchemy ritual, yet you can’t calculate the yield of this ritual?”

Lann’s brow furrowed slightly but soon smoothed.

”To me, mysticism is just a tool. I have no intention to probe the underlying principles, nor do I seek them. My energy and investigative spirit will mainly focus on the field of life itself.”

This is Lann’s way of coordinating his own ’perfect nature’, or one could say it’s about making choices.

If he were a normal Son of the Emperor, Lann estimated most would not let go of magic, such a useful and elegant power, once encountered. Quite the contrary, they would delve deeply into it.

But Lann knew very well, even a superhuman Interstellar Warrior would need to devote corresponding energy and time to explore a subject.

To achieve the pinnacle, one must learn to abandon unnecessary details.

Lann only views magic as a tool for exploration and application, needing to know just how to use it. What truly needs to be explored is the [Bio-Knowledge] from the era of the cosmos.

Under Margaret’s and Lann’s watchful gazes, the liquid within the crucible became increasingly viscous until it turned into a grayish gel-like substance.

Its volume approximately able to fill a regular soup bowl.

Though Margaret lacked innate skill in alchemy, she did possess knowledge.

She gradually reduced her magic input until it stopped completely. As she withdrew her hand, she counter-applied an [Igni Magic Seal] to extinguish the heat source below the crucible.

Such little tricks of the Demon Hunters could be learned in one glance by them.

Levitation raised the glob of gray gel into a container Lann had prepared in advance.

”Its output looks pretty good?”

Margaret asked tentatively, as her role was to be the beautiful face and magic force, understanding it was entirely beyond her.

Lann nodded: ”Better than expected. I initially thought a palm-sized bone piece yielding a test tube’s worth would be good. Seems the ’growth power’ inside the dragon bones is indeed quite intense.”

They exchanged a look, and facing an unprecedented alchemical product, all that remained was to test it to see its effects.

In sync, they both gazed at the remaining unused herb materials.
