Bear School Astartes

Chapter 181: 181. Through ”Onboarding

Whether Tishaya intended to foster goodwill with Lann or considered Margaret’s recommendation, the treatment for Lann’s ’recruitment test’ was rather favorable.

It’s already absurd enough to involve a Demon Hunter, renowned for bravery, in the profound alchemical research of the Warlocks.

But Tishaya not only brought Lann to the laboratory, she also gave him a magic potion formula regardless of the outcome.

Even if Lann didn’t pass the ’recruitment test’, just this magic potion formula would make the trip worthwhile for him.

From Lann’s perspective, he felt confident about this ’recruitment test’.

The formula given by Tishaya was as long as an article, which fully demonstrated the complexity of the potion’s process and the difficulty of its creation.

However, after just a glance, Lann didn’t look again and walked straight out of the crystal culture project laboratory towards the adjacent Alchemy Classroom.

”Are the alchemy materials ready?”

”That’s right, I’ve already notified an apprentice to bring them over.”

Tishaya was somewhat surprised by Lann’s memory, but many Warlocks had photographic memory, so she remained calm.

She actually hoped Lann would join the project, which would mean he had closer ties with Airetusa.

However, even if he couldn’t improve it on-site or succeed with the original, she hoped Lann could at least successfully create Stanford’s Elixir.

Even if it took a few days.

Even when opening the back door, one still needs some basic capabilities, right?

After arranging the necessary materials for Lann, Tishaya left to attend to her own matters.

According to her estimation, if Lann had even a slight talent in alchemy, it would take about two days to make a finished product.

However, after a total of two hours of refinement time, the former headmistress of Airetusa, Tishaya, was slightly stunned as she looked at the glass bottle in front of her.

And the oily liquid inside, surging with chaos magic power.

”Wow!” The exclamation wasn’t from Tishaya but from the lazy beauty on the headmistress’s chair.

”Did you really improve it on first sight?!”

Lann ignored Margaret, who was greatly impressed, and explained his thought process to the actual decision-maker, Tishaya.

”Stanford’s Elixir was originally prepared as a spirit medicine for warlocks, so magic power inevitably needs to seep in during refinement. I had to intermittently infuse magic power to allow myself time to recover magic power. I used this approach to improve it.”

”This improved version of the spirt medicine will have differing effectiveness and toxic bursts based on consumption amounts. In non-critical times, a small sip will work weakly, but the toxicity will also be negligible. It’s essentially become a staple magic potion, rather than a battle potion.”

Behind her desk, Tishaya didn’t even bother to open the bottle cap to smell it.

She just cast a suspicious glance from Margaret to Lann and then the bottle.

”If I hadn’t decided on this formula while on the road, I would definitely think you found someone to help you with that face of yours in the academy.”

The former headmistress’s full chest rose and fell, her tone conflicted.

”This isn’t much different from the improvement plan I made a hundred and thirty years ago.”

Lann was slightly displeased upon hearing this.

”Tsk, so you’re saying I did redundant work? I actually thought you wouldn’t explore reducing toxicity.”

Tishaya shook her head.

”I understand your discontent, geniuses always pursue perfection and dislike following others. But this oversight is on me; you simply didn’t know what improvements had been made over the centuries on this recipe. Repetition is inevitable.”

”But at the same time, you’ve also proven your extraordinary talent in alchemy. Margaret’s description of your talent certainly wasn’t exaggerated.”

Lann showed a modest smile.

The innate talent of Sons of the Emperor in biochemical knowledge truly exceeded imagination, and Lann only felt that every time after alchemy, countless inspirations and thoughts swirled in his mind.

These inspirations were precisely captured and recorded by Mentos, just waiting for Lann to verify them in the future when he has a solid knowledge base.

And Lann could be sure that as he delved deeper into academia, and as biochemical experiments increased, his inspiration and talent would further offer him more insights.

His genetic seed was a vast treasury. The talent and knowledge within made him feel like he wasn’t transporting fast enough.

If it were gold he was carrying, no matter how much, he could carry it! (Robber face).JPG

This you really can’t carry.JPG

After mentally dissing Mentos once more and suppressing the biological Mind’s rebuttal, Lann shook Tishaya’s outstretched hand.

”Welcome to the crystal cultivation project group, Lann.”

”It’s my honor to work with you, ma’am.”

This counted as a successful recruitment.

”Later, I’ll compile a list of progress and readings for the project for you. You’ll need to swiftly convert your alchemical talent into research capability. Airetusa’s library and classroom courses will both be open to you.”

This renowned magic academy on the continent opened several permissions to the Demon Hunter all at once, and at the end of her speech, Tishaya wore a slightly teasing expression.

”Fortunately, you’re a Demon Hunter, and female warlocks have difficulty getting pregnant. Otherwise, just based on that face of yours, I wouldn’t easily let you into classrooms, Lann. Most apprentices have little resistance to a well-traveled, strong man like you, and most of them have now learned a trick or two of charms, charm creams and such.”

The smile on the young man’s face became slightly stiff; he now realized that sorceresses crack bawdy jokes regardless of age group.

But this bawdy joke undoubtedly drew the discontent of the other headmistress on the chair.

”I can hear you, Tishaya!”

Margaret sternly tapped the backrest of the cashmere chair.

”Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on this puberty-phase Demon Hunter. His hormones won’t be wasted on those apprentices.”

”That would be ideal.”

Tishaya drew out a piece of parchment and swiftly jotted down a bewildering array of calligraphic letters.

This was the reading list she thought Lann would need, and the project progress would be given to him after compilation.

Margaret and Lann left the headmistress’s office together.

”Looks like I’ll be staying here for a while; will I still be living at the last place?”

Lann nodded politely to the passing female sorcerer apprentices while asking Margaret about his lodging.

The apprentices passing by were amazed why a handsome and strong man appeared in the academy.

Their faces bore a curiosity and temptation as they watched Lann’s back fade into the distance... until he was brought into Headmistress Margaret’s bedroom.

”The Luoxia Palace on the first floor is for outsiders and guests, you don’t qualify. You’ll be living here, with me watching, those little green pools won’t get to savor your meat!”
