Chapter 185: 185. Self-discipline

It’s like a violent storm passing through!

With Lann’s dynamic visual ability, he even felt dizzy!

In just an instant, the container holding the second heart was placed on the operating table, while the chief surgeon directly used his large purple-armored hand to press down the helmet of the assistant behind him!

The fully enclosed, heavy helmet crashed through various surgical instruments in the room amidst the chaotic ”clang, clang” sounds.

With a loud ”bang,” it smashed against the all-steel wall!

On the thick and sturdy wall, that ’Diluke’s helmet was even pressed three to four centimeters into it by the owner of the vision!

Steel gauntlet and helmet emitted the sound of metal grappling and colliding.

Perhaps due to extreme anger, the owner of the vision couldn’t even maintain his elegant speech emphasis at this moment.

”You dare to meddle with the [Second Heart]! You dare to show off your clumsy bio-modification techniques on a future brother’s second heart! Diluke! You scum of the legion!”

With the roar, Lann automatically learned from the owner of the vision what a normal [Second Heart] should be like.

And it seemed that the maneuver ’Diluke’ made was very subtle and hidden.

When the owner of the vision recalled, the knowledge about the [Second Heart] even traced back to the complete manufacturing process!

Lann hurriedly had Mentos record it down and store it in the database.

He could clearly feel the immense absurdity and anger in the heart of the owner of the vision.

Diluke is a Son of the Emperor, how could he... how dare he do such a thing?!

”Do you think modifying the heart muscle fibers on a cellular level would escape my notice?! The surgical procedures of an Interstellar Warrior are personally established by the Emperor. Do you think your wild imagination compares to the wisdom of Holy Terra?!”

”Who do you think you are?!”

The word [Emperor] in the speech caught Lann’s attention. Because his gene-seed came from the [Sons of the Emperor] legion.

So it seemed to him that this [Emperor] might be the creator and leader of these superhuman warriors.

In the all-steel room, red warning lights began to flash. The auto system had observed the conflict here.

This operating room concerned the surgical procedure of an Interstellar Warrior, warranting the entire warship’s attention.

Lann felt that the owner of the vision he observed this time was stronger and more learned than all previous memories.

In the previous head-pressing action, ’Diluke’ showed data consistent with the average value of the Sons of the Emperor from past memories.

Even stronger in terms of reaction speed.

In the instant he was suppressed, he had already developed thirteen counter strategies, but... they were all crushed by the owner of the vision!

Not crushed by brute force, as that wouldn’t fit the aesthetics of the [Sons of the Emperor].

The owner of the vision in a near-instinctive manner forcibly dismantled all thirteen counter strategies with corresponding techniques!

It was a perfect offensive and defensive response!

And being suppressed by such an opponent, ’Diluke’ didn’t display the demeanor he should have.

On the contrary, he demonstrated a behavior that Lann found very unusual.

... He started to ’enjoy’ being suppressed by the owner of the vision.

It seemed the pain on him brought him pleasure.

To the point where he began to twitch involuntarily in pleasure.

The owner of the vision seemed to feel disgusted by this and abruptly withdrew his hand from pressing on ’Diluke’s head.

”You have to come with me to see the Captain! Diluke!”

The owner of the vision turned back to the operating table and after operating on the display for a while, activated the temporary stasis field.

”Alright, alright. Heh heh.” Diluke, who had been pressed into the wall, pulled himself out and smiled sickeningly at Lann.

”I’ll go with you to see the Captain, Abdel. But you know it yourself, don’t you?”

”In the legion, brothers undergoing additional modifications are too numerous to count. Everyone longs to make themselves more perfect, it’s in our nature. Who can go against their nature?”

Lann could feel the twitching corners of the mouth under the helmet of the vision’s owner named ’Abdel’.

Because of anger. A kind of anger that knows what is spoken is true, yet is powerless.

”In any case...” Abdel grabbed Diluke’s shoulder armor and dragged him out of the operating room like a dead dog.

”Your meddling in the recruits’ surgery is unforgivable! If the Captain doesn’t intervene, we’ll go together to meet... meet that [Phoenix of Chemos]!”

-----------------

”Huff-hah!”

Lying on the soft big bed, Lann suddenly opened his eyes and took a sharp breath.

But he had no mind for the headache he’d almost gotten used to, instead, he immediately asked the bio-brain.

”Mentos, did you record the [Second Heart] manufacturing?”

”It’s all documented, sir.”

Upon receiving the affirmative answer, Lann finally breathed a sigh of relief.

”From the scenario in the memory just now... is there already trouble within the [Sons of the Emperor]?”

Even though he knew that not having changes in an organization over ten thousand years was strange.

Yet, Diluke’s behavior at the time still made Lann feel a bit sick.

That guy looked like a junkie high on narcotic powder.

That the nature of the Sons of the Emperor seeking perfection had developed to that horrifying extent?

Lann slightly frowned. Personally, he didn’t feel much of a crisis.

On the first day of implanting the gene seed, he had already been wary of this nature. All along, he had been trying to control his impulse for perfection.

Or at least divert the impulse for biochemical perfection into daily life, for mental relief.

Lann was very aware of himself, he felt that when the horizon wasn’t broad enough, many current pursuits for perfection were merely flaws added to the future.

And when would the horizon be broad enough?

Well, have to... surpass that ’Abdel’? Probably.

A pair of tender hands reached over from beside him, pressing on Lann’s head, gently massaging.

Lann lifted his eyes, seeing two swaying white ’bells’ faintly peeking out from the neckline of Margaret’s nightgown.

”Did you encounter danger in your dream again?”

Margaret asked softly while massaging Lann’s temples.

The nightly [Deep Dive into Memory], was not something that could be hidden from someone sharing the bed.

And Margaret believed, during their crossing of the celestial intersection, Lann’s mysterious connection to other worlds caused him to see visions of those worlds in his dreams.

Examples of this have appeared in their world, like the founder of the Snake School of Demon Hunters — Ivar the Evil Eye. His eyes could pierce the barriers between worlds and observe other worlds.

Such eyes once spread as a curious story in Warlock circles.

Compared to the eyes that can always see other worlds, Lann’s ability to only relate in dreams wasn’t so unusual.

Margaret just felt sorry for him.

And as Lann was about to respond to the Female Warlock’s concern, the cone-shaped crystal for communication in his alchemy pouch on the bedside quietly lit up.

Lann reached over to touch it, and the communication message carefully crafted by the Lady of the Lake came through.

On the winter solstice two months later, one of the most active time points of Chaos Magic Power throughout the year, the celestial intersection fissure would open again.

——A new adventure has already entered the preparation countdown.
