Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2246: Like This?

The name was completely foreign to almost all those that were there…

Except for the last name.

They had just heard it from Kaeloth.

All of their gazes landed on Sylas and the situation completely changed in an instant. Those that had thoughts of maybe stepping in to help things on the side of Sylasʼ enemies completely dropped said thoughts.

What utter nonsense. What chance did they have against a family with experts on this level?

Their senses werenʼt as sharp as Tera and Ouraʼs. These two could tell that Magnus was just an F-tier Rune Creator. But the masses… they were rarely Rune Creators themselves in the first place, so how could they tell the difference with something so lofty?

For the likes of Vaelith and the others, despite being D-tier Rune Creators themselves, they didnʼt have the height of Tera and Oura. They were overwhelmed by the aura of the tower itself and the blessing that Magnus was receiving. They couldnʼt pick out the nuances.

And now, Oura was alone, in a tower he shouldnʼt have been in, facing off against someone who already knew the secrets that could cause him a great deal of trouble.

Did he even have the time to speak and inform everyone about what was going on?

All he knew was that Tera had been forced to disappear before, and if he didnʼt hurry to make a decision, he might get such a right.

On the one hand, with Tera gone, this allowed him the chance to monopolize everything that was here himself.

But on the other… all of the responsibility and trouble would fall entirely on his shoulders as well.

He stood in silence, looking at Sylas who was still smiling. The latter seemed to be entirely ignoring him, but Oura could feel it.

This boy had a relaxed posture, his Will was through the roof, his confidence so palpable it was leaking off of him.

Sylas was already primed and ready to deal with him and everything seemed to go back to a single conclusion… Favoritism.

The tower wouldnʼt allow people to be killed in the first place, and if there was a person it was intent on protecting, then it would be even more impossible even given its current state.

And with a Will as powerful as Sylasʼ at such a young age…

Was it even possible to torture him? How much time would it take to break him? Even if the tower allowed it, would he have the time to act?

There was one problem that Oura hadnʼt even considered yet.

The tower still had to skirt around some rules to help Sylas, but it couldnʼt be too blatantly obvious. For one, it was still in a greatly diminished state. And two, Sylas had yet to earn it.

But an Ancestor of Hell… they would have a great amount of control over the goings on here.

If Sylasʼ grandfather finished his baptism and came, Oura would be finished.

”I will remember you.” Oura said calmly. He didnʼt seem to be very angry, but that was only because Sylas hadnʼt replied yet.

Sylas looked at him, gazed upon him from feet to head, his smile already long gone.

”We will see if I care to remember you in a few months.”

Ouraʼs eyes slowly narrowed. However, it didnʼt stop him from slowly fading away.

He had seen too much life to lose his temper because of the words of a boy. Maybe in a few minutes, he would be chuckling about it.

But that didnʼt mean he would forget.

Sylas looked away from Oura and his eyes landed on Kaeloth once again.

”The Vaelryn Clan is banned from entry into the Skai Heavenʼs Creation World.”

Kaelothʼs eyes bulged. ”What did you just say—?!”

BANG.

A restriction appeared around him. Runes circled around his body like the rings of a planet, dancing in wild motes.

One after another, every Vaelryn was ripped free.

Kaeloth roared and struggled, but it was all worthless.

Just like that, the third ranked C-tier Rune Master, a beacon of his generation, was ripped free of his chance to ever step into the ranks of C-tier Rune Creators.

Would it truly be impossible…? No.

But in all likelihood, it might as well have been.

A heavy air fell from above and everyone froze, including the second rank. Wrenlow looked at Sylas with the latterʼs blood still leaking from his fingers, but his own internal injuries bled all the more.

However, Sylas didnʼt even sweep a gaze toward him. Instead, he took a step and vanished over the horizon, appearing before the rotating tower, and entering without another word.

Wrenlowʼs eyes widened. He couldnʼt believe it. He was sure that he would have been next.

A thought struck him and his eyes narrowed.

But understanding and being able to do something about it were two very different things.

Vaelith didnʼt say a word and just watched.

In the far off distance, Heaven Creator Medei just watched on with a pale face and slinked away at the first opportunity he was presented.

Sylas didnʼt appear in the same foyer he expected to appear in. Instead, he found himself practically floating.

Beneath him, what he could only describe as a miniature star surrounded by rings of rotating Runes lay.

His pupils constricted. This had to be the very core of the tower. Maybe few people if any at all had ever been here. If the wrong person made it into such a place, it was as good as handing them the keys to everything. Everything here could be destroyed, warped, or wrested.

The rings of Runes were some vague form of protection, but they had deteriorated. Sylas couldnʼt make heads or tails of it, but he could feel it.

The Runes were crying.

Much like Earthʼs Runes had been.

Their state of disrepair was just as bad as Earthʼs at the very start of the Ninth Summoning.

And then Sylas heard the pleading.

The tower… it really needed his Creation of Key.

But should he just hand it over like this?
