Chapter 1892: Before my Pride (4)

That was the Monkey Kingʼs biases speaking.

Sylas wasnʼt thinking about continuously bashing his head into a wall until he got what he wanted.

He didnʼt think he was capable of losing in the first place. The idea of doing so sickened him to his stomach so much that he didnʼt even consider it.

When he made his plans, he constantly thought of the worst-case scenario, not because he was cowardly or always feared the worst possible result, but because he wanted to always be ready to crush whatever that worst- case scenario was.

It was why, when he had first started in this world, he cared so much about information. Only with enough information could he plan ahead as much as he needed to. Only with enough information could he accurately assess just what the worst-case scenario was. Only with enough information could he ensure that he would always win no matter the circumstance.

He wasnʼt bashing his head against a wall.

He just had too much Pride to take a step back just for the sake of seeking out victory another day.

Sylas might describe the Monkey King as a coward with limitations. He might feel that the Monkey King changed his own rules so fluidly because he didnʼt want the pain of dealing with failure. He ran from the possibility of failure for no other reason than to protect his Pride and what existed of it.

The Monkey King might describe Sylas as delusional and fighting a war of semantics. Was it really true that Sylas never took a step back? When he said back then that he would take 50 years to destroy the Emperor Sanctum, was he really not taking a step back? If he was so sure of himself, why didnʼt he head off to destroy them right then and there?

Which of them were correct? It was impossible to tell.

One of them had yet to grow to their full potential, and the other was a severely weakened projection sent from a distant past.

But what was certain was neither of them cared for these small details.

That was their own Pride.

BOOM.

Sylasʼ Pride Seed completely shattered, but in its place, his crimson Monkey King Armor was replaced by a golden one, his hair dancing in streams of white-gold that looked more like light than actual hair.

Completely enclosed in the armor, Sylasʼ injuries were impossible to see at all. But one thing was very clear.

In a single instant, Sylasʼ entire being had undergone a change.

He perfectly formed his E-tier Monkey King Armor, perfected the Grimblade Royal Line in the E-tier, and grasped the Pride of the Monkey King Ancestral Gene.

However, this E-tier Monkey King Armor was a lot weaker than it should have been. Fifty million sounded amazing, but it would have only been so amazing at the F-tier. In the E-tier, it shouldnʼt have been surprising if the Monkey King Armor was easily five times stronger than that.

While it was true that the best of the best D-tier only had stats in the mid-tens of millions, this was the measure of Mortals, while Sylasʼ Monkey King Armor was as close to Demi-Godhood as a Mortal could ever touch.

However, Sylas knew why it was so low.

His stats werenʼt fake, and most of his Armor wasnʼt external. It was woven into his very being and tied down to his very Genes.

His Will, his telekinesis, and the Armor were one and the same. But there was one more part of it that had made itself known... His Virtue Pride Seed.

Now, Sylasʼ Physical stat boosts were the most mundane and unintriguing portion of his Monkey King Armor.

This time, when he activated Mixed Chaotic Arts, the world bent around his very Will.

His gaze landed on the Monkey King, and in that moment, he didnʼt just see a humanoid about his size.

There, balanced on the tip of his staff-or rather, behind him-Sylas saw a figure the size of a planet sitting upon a throne.

Those eyes gazed across time and space, looking down on Sylas through the eyes of its projection with the indifference of the God of a World.

It was enough to make any man feel small.

Sylasʼ tail swayed and he attained out a hand. Golden light swirled and gathered, Runes flickering with life and vitality until an illusory staff formed in his own hands.

The world shook.

BOOM.

He slammed the butt of the staff into the ground, his chest blooming with power.

BOOM.

The Monkey King landed on the ground, his own staff falling into his palms. To his back, the throne his real body

sat on only seemed to be becoming realer and realer.

”Come.”

They spoke at the same time and then vanished.
