Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1890: Before my Pride (2)

The Monkey King wasnʼt doing a single thing that felt out of the ordinary-not a single powerful skill, not a broken Gene Talent, not even a bloodline resonance.

He had nothing but an unbending Will and a body as wild and chaotic as the core of the universe.

Sylas had already started to use his martial arts Comprehension, but it seemed completely worthless against the Monkey King, as though he was beyond chaos itself.

It took no more than half a second of exchanges for Sylas to realize that there was nothing in his arsenal capable of harming the Monkey King.

Not his bloodline, not his skills, not his Classes, definitely not his Race level.

His Archon Casting was all he had that was barely on the same level, and it was only good enough to keep him from instantly landing in a death scenario.

But if things kept going like this, there was only going to be one inevitable end.

Death.

Yet Sylasʼ expression didnʼt reflect the eyes of someone at the end of his rope.

He skidded back, his knees buckling and his Achilles nearly snapping beneath the pressure. Yet his calves flexed and his eyes flashed.

In an instant, the Monkey King Armor formed over his body.

The relentless assault of the Monkey King came to a sudden stop. His smile, as cheerful as it had been before, slowly faded, his body standing so still it would have been possible to convince another that he was a statue and not a living being at all.

A helm of canines caged Sylasʼ face, bridging over it.

A new smile crept across the Monkey Kingʼs face, but this one was darker-darker than it had been even before.

This Sylas Grimblade...

Truly comprehended how to piss him off.

”How dare you?”

The Monkey King began to walk, his hand-like feet slowly spreading with every step as his weight pushed them down. There was a balance to his gait that went beyond humans, but there was also something odd about the sway of his hips, almost like he was slowly becoming less human and more bestial with every step he took.

”Itʼs been a extensive time... a long time since I was provoked.”

A wild grin spread across Sylasʼ own face, his blood furiously pumping. ”The last person to provoke me, I swore to eradicate their entire Race.”

The Monkey Kingʼs grin deepened. ”Just a swear?”

”There is little difference to me between a promise and the truth.”

Two boisterous laughs filled the air.

”In that case, allow me to make a promise.” The scent of blood filled the air. ”Iʼm going to take a bite out of your skull and use it as a piss jar.”

The Monkey King vanished, and Sylasʼ body bent in an arch to dodge, the thrust of the staff passing right over his nose almost like a quick jab.

Just as quickly, the staff pulled back and thrust again, and then again.

Sylas continuously backflipped, his body contorting, twisting, and using the air as inflection and jump-off points that shouldnʼt exist at all.

His actions became as wild as the Monkey Kingʼs, seemingly directly taking inspiration from him.

If Mixed Chaotic Arts wasnʼt going to allow him to comprehend the actions of the Monkey King ahead of time, then he would just use it to decipher and comprehend every action the Monkey King had already taken... And then learn from it.

Sylas flipped through the air, his palm striking down as his feet hung high above his head. He tapped the body of the Monkey Kingʼs staff, perfectly timing one of its thrusts as though the Monkey King himself had placed it there as a platform for his circus tricks.

The laughter of the Monkey King didnʼt stop. In fact, his actions only became wilder in response. Despite the rage in his eyes, it was almost as though... He was having fun.

But that fun didnʼt dull his edge at all. If anything, it made it sharper, more unrelenting and violent.

He became faster, his staff heavier, and as he did so, his body somehow also became more and more solid.

It had already solidified into a state where there was little difference between the Monkey King and a creature of flesh and blood. Yet it was somehow happening nonetheless.

Every time Sylas dodged, every time he flipped through the air and barely escaped death, the aftershocks and currents would cut across him.

His faux arm was in especially bad shape. There was nothing but the bone of his left arm, protected by a coating of his telekinesis. But the Monkey Kingʼs Will, his Pride, was so far beyond Sylasʼ own that even brief contact shattered it apart.

Sylas was forced to reform his telekinetic coating again and again, and every time he did so, he was slowly beginning to realize that... Not all infinities were created equal.

Sylas had already been aware of the mathematical principle. Some infinities were larger than others, and that could be mathematically proven.

What he didnʼt expect was that his infinity was the inferior sort-a Finite Infinity as opposed to an Infinite Infinity.

The difference hardly mattered when he couldnʼt make great use of either at his level. But now that he could-at least in part-the difference was stark.

He was running out of Infinite Will.

And the reason was because he was facing an opponent who had long transcended even Infinite Infinity.

BOOM.

Sylas barely managed to dodge the jaws of the Monkey King as he bit at his neck. But the Monkey King was once again using his staff like the pole of a dancer, his body quickly torquing around it and leveling out a kick that Sylas was too off balance to dodge.

Sylas blocked with his telekinesis-covered bone arm.

Or, rather, he tried.

The coating shattered, and then the exposed bone beneath it followed quickly after.

The war cry of the Monkey King filled the skies, and Sylas felt his Virtue Seed of Pride crack as a Crown rose above the Monkey Kingʼs head.

BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG.
