Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1486: And That Is?

Sylasʼ voice boomed, the echo rocking against the King Serpentʼs head. It shook, swaying from side to side, still not understanding what had happened.

The King Serpent had, indeed, been faster in comprehending the world around them than Sylas. It was not only innately born with these abilities, it had lived in this world for far too long. Even if it had never been actively studying it, it would have been trivial for it to take the last steps after so long.

it was little more than arrogance for Sylas to think that he could force [Glassvolt Throne] to perform better than a World Serpent in a world said World Serpent was already familiar with.

BOOM.

The King Serpent landed heavily on the ground, its large head stopping right before Sylas. The fury in its eyes was returning, but a powerful restraint seemed to have appeared on its body as Sylasʼ Runes churned.

Every Rune he formed seemed to infuse itself into the breadth of the world itself, sparks of lightning forming a dance with them, representing his Will.

it was all very unfortunate for the King Serpent. It had indeed been faster, but that meant too little in the face of Sylasʼ intelligence and Vipermancy.

The attack the King Serpent had used just now was a product of taking control of the world. It sucked away the life of the world through its in-depth comprehension.

This was a form of control far beyond what Sylasʼ [Glassvolt Throne] was capable of. Sylas could only use [Glassvolt Throne] to control Aether beyond himself, making himself stronger.

The irony was that in an F-Grade world like this one, there was no stronger Aether to control, but instead a higher quantity of it.

Something like being able to force the world to increase his strength like the King Serpent had done was simply impossible. [Glassvolt Throne] wasnʼt nearly so intricate. However, because of One-Kind-For-Me, Sylasʼ ability to comprehend Serpentes was second to none. The King Serpent might have exceptional ability to block many aspects of Vipermancy, but it was only to a certain, limited extent.

The moment Sylas saw the attack forming, Intuition and his own instincts toward Serpentes were already working overtime.

Ironically, it was because the King Serpentʼs abilities were so far beyond [Glassvolt Throne] that Sylas was able to progress it to the next level, allowing him to grasp the world as well.

The moment Sylas comprehended the world to the same level as the King Serpent, he had too many advantages to lose.

All he needed at that point was his Perfect Spark Mastery and Vipermancy. When these two things came together, the King Serpent no longer had a chance to fight him.

The King Serpentʼs maw opened and it roared at Sylas, sparks of lightning forming between its sharp teeth. With its head being so large, Sylas couldnʼt even see its eyes, but he didnʼt need to.

[Contract Failed]

Sylasʼ gaze flickered.

Honestly, he had already expected this. Now that he had comprehended this world fully, the King Serpent couldnʼt restrain his abilities to see through it anymore.

As such, he knew that this wasnʼt an F-tier beast. It was instead a D-tier beast that had been suppressed down to this level by the Legendary System and then trapped here.

All of its abilities were still in the scope of the F-tier, but that wouldnʼt continue to be the case once it left here. Ironically enough, because it had been in limbo while trapped here, it didnʼt age while the Tower of Champions wasnʼt open.

As such, it too was still just an infant. Well, not exactly. If Gogo was a baby, then it was more like a pre-teen. Old enough to have a smart mouth, but still quite a distance from real maturity.

However, none of this was the real reason Sylas couldnʼt contract it.

To Vipermancy... this King Serpent was already dead.

It wasnʼt a real King Serpent, it was a clone made by the Legendary System. Its lifespan wasnʼt as long as a real King Serpent, and if it left here, it would likely die within a few years.

It seemed that the real reason it was a D-tier, then, was because it was designed by the Legendary System to pose a challenge to three levels of Tower of Champions—the F- tier, the E-tier, and the D-tier. The source of thɪs content is NovᴇlFɪre.nᴇt

Sylas wasnʼt actually too disappointed by this. That was because the moment the veil was removed and the World Serpent couldnʼt hide from his sense any longer, he knew that the only way to help Gogo evolve to his true potential was by killing it.

it was the valuable flesh and blood within it that Gogo needed to reform himself and complete his evolution.

However, before this... Sylas hadnʼt forgotten that the King Serpent had looked at his Madness Key.

His eyes glowed and chains descended from the skies. Runes churned and the King Serpent was tied into a bundle, forcing it into a suspended state in the air and allowing Sylas to easily look into its eyes.

A large pair of golden slit eyes appeared behind Sylas as well. Even if he couldnʼt contract this King Serpent, he certainly had the ability to take temporary control over it. it shook and writhed, trying to break free of the chains, but Sylas only tightened them further, his expression cold and indifferent.

The King Serpent began to whimper in pain, and soon it could no longer resist Sylas’ command.

”Speak. What do you know about the Madness Key?”

Why waste time questioning the little girl and forking over so many Genes if he didnʼt have to?

Plus... Sylas had learned many times now that even if he had all the Genes in the world, there were simply some questions he couldnʼt ask. Last time he had made that mistake, he had to fork over a Gold Gene when he hadnʼt even seen a Silver one up to that point. Asking someone not restricted by these things was best.

“If master speaks of the necklace around his neck, I am only aware of what my Ancestral Memories have told me.”

”And that is?”

“Betrayal.
