Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1451: The Gap

It only took a few more minutes before Sylas got what he wanted out of Sanzi.

It turned out that he was from a Race known as the Boros Race. However, their origins were very interesting... especially when Sylas learned that they had a strong connection with a B+ Race known as the Ouro Race.

The connection between the two, and the word Ouroboros certainly came to mind. And it was because of this Sylas knew he had to let Sanzi go at least for the time being.

The Boros Race had the ability to split their Wills. Their strength was usually dictated by the number of Boros Links in their hair. Each new addition was like an additional life. Unless one could wipe out all of their Wills at once, they would be able to live again. And because of this, they were able to split their Wills away from themselves and form incredibly lifelike clones, recreations, and illusions.

Even Sylas hadnʼt seen through the fact Sanzi was a fake from the start. And it wasnʼt until he began looking around that he found Sanziʼs real body sneaking up on him.

Sanzi was quite clever, though. The form he chose was very human-like while he himself was very much not human. It was clearly a ploy to get Sylas to feel more sympathy and lower his guard more.

This was why Sylas chose not to kill Sanzi. Aside from the fact he felt going so far was unnecessary, this level of control over Wil, its splitting, and illusions, likely meant that even if he killed Sanzi here, there was no telling if the Boros Race, or the Ouro Race behind them, would be able to find out it was him.

Sylas wasnʼt someone who ever acted without thinking. He killed Kraziel and Veyric not because he was too furious to control his temper, but instead as a calculated risk.

Yes, it would make him an enemy of the Veil Humans, but he had already calculated that the odds the B-tier would be able to send substantial information was low. And the deaths of those two would be precisely what forced the B-tier to overextend himself and suffer the backlash of the system.

This death would do nothing for him, though. If anything, it would only bring more trouble.

The Ouro Race was a B+ Race with very similar ability to the Boros, but their Will actually had what Sanzi called an Immortal Character. Not only could they split them numerous ways, but their Wills would also slowly recover at the same time.

Essentially, if an Ouro split their Wills once, over time it would grow into two independent Wills of the same strength, different from the Boros whose split in Wills only had one main Will and several lesser Wills.

Wills of the same strength, different from the Boros whose split in Wills only had one main Will and several lesser Wills.

If a Boros lost their main Will, they could choose a lesser Will to make their main, but it would require even more sacrifices on top of that.

That wasnʼt all for the Ouro Race either. This Immortal Character also made their Wills especially difficult to damage, and their Will recovery was off the charts.

This was almost certainly a Will Ability. Maybe the first true Will Ability that Sylas had run into.

And it also made him curious... it had been too long since the last time he improved [Maddened Enlightenment]. He wondered if there could be something to learn here. Everyone had protections on their Genes, that seemed commonplace. But Sylasʼ Taboo Bond could Extricate Will Abilities. Would the Ouro have such protections?

There was only one way to find out.

Sylas let Sanzi go and faced off against his next opponent, and then the next.

By the dozenth opponent, he realized that this was going to go on for much longer than he expected. It was also a reminder of just how large the universe was.

There was a point on Earth where he thought they would never even fully explore their ttle corner of the Milky Way within thousands of years. But now, he was facing off against what should be hundreds or thousands of other Horizons, each of which was made of several Sectors, which were further made of dozens of galaxies.

The universe was impossibly vast, and there were actually Races that could control such huge swaths of land.

Every opponent Sylas faced, his comprehension of this world and its scale increased. He also began to get a picture of the Warlord Sanctums and how powerful they were. By extension, he was starting to build a picture of just how powerful the Emperor Sanctum had to be in order to control so many Sanctums as well.

The closest thing to struggle Sylas faced in these first dozen or so battles was an existence that he thought must have been from the B+ Races that Neyara mentioned, only to realize after questioning that he wasnʼt. In fact, his Race was still very far from such a title according to him.

However, the manʼs Will had been so strong that he practically formed a Domain of his own.

Unfortunately for him, despite his shocking Enlightened Will, Sylasʼ Will was Marked, and also had characteristics of an E-Grade Will. Sylas shattered it just by pressing a little harder, but in the brief instant the man had been able to fight back and stop Sylasʼ Rune casting, Sylas had smelled the scent of death.

The gap in stats was simply shocking, and the gap in Races seemed to weigh even more heavily.

It was after this battle that Sylas realized that this young man was from a Sector where the Beast Sanctum 031 resided.

Not even the top 30 in Sanctums, and yet there were existences like this there. If not for his Rune Mastery, Sylas would have died to a single strike of this young man.

Just how powerful were the top 20 Sanctums? The top 10? The top 3?

And what large leap was there between them and the Emperor Sanctum?
