Genetic Ascension

Chapter 582: 210,100,000

Sylas slowly opened his eyes.

Sleep was hard to come by these days, so he took advantage whenever he got the chance. He didnʼt even get a chance to look over his gains before he passed out.

Now, however, he would have a chance to reset... at least for the moment.

[Coins: 67,823,452 (F)]

The most lucrative part of Sylasʼ excursions was most definitely the Coins. The death of every Demon came with several hundred coins at worst, while some of the more powerful ones came with as much as thousands.

Of course, none gave as much as Balgros or his partner in crime, but with so many dead Demons, it added up. Sylas realized that he had neglected this too much. If he had thought to do this long ago, he would have been able to successfully trade for already. However, this wasnʼt all he made...

A knock came from Sylasʼ door. He stood to answer it, only to find Tasia on the other side.

”Finished?” he asked.

”Yes, Iʼve done it. Here.”

There was a flicker and then...

[Coins: 277,923,452 (F)]

Sylasʼ gaze flickered. This was way more than he was expecting.

But he also noticed something else.

ʼ210,100,000 Coins exactly? Interesting.ʼ

Before he passed out yesterday, Sylas had given Tasia her first task. In reality, he was trusting her with a lot by doing that.

Aside from the Coins granted by the system, Demons would, from time to time, drop Treasures. These Treasures could be exceptionally lucrative, far more than the Coins that they dropped. But the problem was getting rid of them.

Sylas had thought about selling his Treasures for a long time already, but he just didnʼt have a method of doing so easily. He had neither the time nor the appropriate Profession. And the fact he lacked the latter made the former issue even worse.

But somehow, Tasia had managed to sell so much in just the half-day or so he had spent asleep? He couldnʼt help but wonder how she had managed it.

”Is this everything?” Sylas asked.

”No. The more complicated stuff is harder to sell off. I could probably double that amount... but finding buyers for them is much more difficult.”

”How did you manage this time?”

Judging by the round number, Sylas already had a guess. He was a bit uncomfortable with it, but he also had never told her that she couldnʼt do things this way, so it certainly wasnʼt her fault.

However, her answer still surprised him.

”I set up a stall and used your video against that general as an advertisement. Then I set up a lottery, loot boxes that cost 100,000 Coins each. I also made them cover the transfer fee.”

Sylasʼ brows raised. She only sold 2,101 of the Treasures he had given her when the real number was easily three times that. On top of that, they probably didnʼt even include the truly good treasures either. Because if she was smart enough to think of this, she was also smart enough to...

”I will hold another loot box session tonight, and then another tomorrow, and thatʼs just to set up the auction that will be a week from now. I left some good loot, and everyone who bought had to agree to a live opening, so the anticipation should be building well.”

Sylas nodded.

He didnʼt have the time to wait out all of this, but once again, that wasnʼt Tasiaʼs fault. She had executed this perfectly and had given him more money than he knew how to spend in a short time.

But he was sure heʼd find a way.

Tasia smiled. She could tell that Sylas was satisfied and didnʼt need him to do much more than nod just like that.

”Here.” Sylas gave her back ten million.

Tasiaʼs eyes widened. ”Do you need me to do something specific?”

”No. Spend it on whatever you would like.”

Tasia didnʼt even know what to say. Wasnʼt this too extravagant?

But then she realized that it truly wasnʼt much to Sylas at all. By her calculations, if she managed to get rid of everything, they would be around three billion or so.

One would definitely have to look to the most powerful factions on Earth to find capital at that level.

Sylas wasnʼt doing this just to be nice. Tasia was smart enough to continue working for him even if he gave her nothing at all. But if he paid her on top of that, he would gain her loyalty as well.

Someone as smart as Tasia was a useful asset, but their intelligence was a double-edged sword. Sylas wasnʼt naive enough to believe that her attraction to him would be enough to keep her by his side as he helped her to raise her power.

She wasnʼt like Nosphaleen, who had no choice but to rely on him.

He had to give her both anticipation for the future and benefits in the present.

As for what she would spend the money on, he didnʼt care. That was because he had a certain confidence in himself as well. The amount of money he could generate now wasnʼt something business acumen and intelligence could make up for.

After his conversation with Tasia, Sylas left for the Nexus and sent Cassarae a hundred

million. Then he spent 32 million on .

Sylas took his time going through it, and as expected, it was worth every penny.

He closed his eyes for a long while and then suddenly reached out. A suction force formed on his palm, and a minor bit of wind kicked up. If one looked closely, it was possible to see veins popping up across his forearm as the strain caused his blood to pump furiously.

ʼI see... it forms a vacuum by suddenly and forcefully evacuating all the Aether in a small area. That vacuum sucks an enemy toward you, and thatʼs the foundation for this Grappling Style.ʼ
