Chapter 2741: Chapter 2741: Recognise Her

Long Hui immediately understood exactly who Yu Qi was referring to. He nodded his head firmly and followed her toward the rear of the house, where the entrance to the basement was situated.

The heavy basement door was firmly secured with a thick, heavy-duty lock. Without saying a single word or wasting any energy looking for a key, Long Hui raised his hand, channelling his immense strength, and struck the locking mechanism with a devastating blow.

Bang!

The solid metal lock shattered instantly into pieces, and the door swung open hard against the wall. A dark, steep staircase leading downward into the earth appeared directly before them.

Long Hui seamlessly took the lead, stepping in front of her to begin descending the concrete stairs carefully, while Yu Qi followed closely behind his broad shoulders.

The deeper they went into the subterranean levels, the colder, damper, and more silent the surroundings became. When they finally reached the very bottom floor of the concrete bunker, they discovered another heavily reinforced metal security door blocking their path. Unsurprisingly, it was securely locked from the outside as well.

Long Hui did not even bother wasting time checking the handle or looking for a key card. He simply raised his fist again and struck the reinforced lock with pure, terrifying brute force.

Bang!

The second lock broke apart immediately under the sheer pressure of his strike. Because they were now trapped inside a tightly confined underground space, the deafening sound echoed loudly throughout the concrete basement corridor, reverberating intensely through every single corner of the structure.

Inside the windowless confinement room, Tang Qin Hao was instantly startled by the sudden, explosive noise. He immediately lifted his head from his chest and turned his gaze sharply toward the heavy door, his alert eyes narrowing cautiously in the dim light.

Someone was coming. The ultimate question was whether the people on the other side of that barrier were friend or foe.

Tang Qin Hao slowly straightened his posture as best as he could, despite the heavy metal chains restricting his limbs and rattling against his chair. His expression remained perfectly calm and unreadable, but his entire body had already become tightly coiled, alert, and ready for a physical confrontation.

The heavy silence that followed the initial explosion felt strangely oppressive, filling the small room with palpable tension.

Then, he heard distinct footsteps approaching smoothly from the other side of the corridor. One step. Then another. They were steady, measured, and entirely unhurried, echoing clearly against the concrete floor. It sounded as though the people outside had absolutely no concern or fear whatsoever about encountering whoever was supposed to be guarding this secret facility.

Tang Qin Hao frowned, his analytical mind processing the data. That detail alone felt incredibly unusual. Whoever had kidnapped him clearly possessed heavy firearms, tactical training, and significant manpower. Yet, these newcomers sounded completely unbothered, walking through the secure facility as if they owned it.

The heavy footsteps grew closer and closer until they stopped directly outside his room. Finally, the metal handle began to turn.

Click.

The heavy door slowly swung open on its hinges. For a brief moment, the blindingly bright light from the external corridor spilt fiercely into the dim, windowless room, creating a harsh contrast that made it difficult for Tang Qin Hao’s adjusted eyes to clearly see the figures standing just beyond the threshold.

He instinctively narrowed his eyes against the glare, shielding his vision.

A tall, broad-shouldered man stepped into the room first, his posture commanding and protective. Immediately behind him, stepping out from the shadows, was a slender woman.

Tang Qin Hao was initially startled by the familiar silhouettes cutting through the glare. For a brief, fleeting moment, his heart leapt as he thought the two people standing before him were someone he knew intimately. However, the moment he blinked past the light and saw their faces clearly, he was caught off guard once again.

He had been mistaken. These two people were complete strangers. Because Yu Qi and Long Hui were both still wearing their meticulously crafted civilian disguises, Tang Qin Hao completely failed to recognise his own sister and her fiancé.

The sudden sight of Tang Qin Hao sitting helplessly on the cold floor with thick, heavy iron chains wrapped securely around both his wrists and ankles immediately made Yu Qi frown deeply. A dangerous, freezing glint flashed across her eyes, and she silently cursed Angelica Lee’s name in the privacy of her heart.

Without saying a single word to break the silence, Yu Qi stepped forward, reached out for the thick iron link restraining Tang Qin Hao’s wrists, and gripped it firmly with her bare hand.

Crack!

With a sharp, resounding snap, the heavy iron chain broke apart as though it were nothing more than a brittle, dried twig.

Tang Qin Hao’s eyes widened in utter astonishment. He stared blankly down at the cleanly broken metal links before slowly looking back up at the mysterious woman standing over him. Just how much terrifying physical strength did this slender stranger possess to fracture solid iron with nothing but her naked grip?

As Yu Qi moved even closer to remove the remaining restraints, a subtle, familiar medical fragrance drifted softly into Tang Qin Hao’s nose. His expression froze instantly. That specific scent… it was a unique herbal blend he knew all too well. His eyes narrowed slightly.

“Yu Qi…” The name slipped completely unconsciously from Tang Qin Hao’s lips, little more than a breathless whisper.

Yu Qi froze for the briefest, most microscopic fraction of a moment. Only for a single second. The subtle, involuntary pause would have gone entirely unnoticed by anyone else in the room.
