Chapter 2724: Chapter 2724: Confirm That Stalker Is Not The Spy

Later, she tried a different, more direct approach and attempted to enter openly through the front entrance.

Naturally, the security guards stopped her at the gate. She then urgently explained that she wanted to meet Deng Jianguo and practically begged them to contact him on her behalf.

However, Deng Jianguo happened to be deep in the middle of a critical, high-stakes experiment at the time. Not only was he entirely unable to leave his station, but he also completely failed to answer any of the internal calls made to his lab. The security guards professionally informed Shu Xianxi that Deng Jianguo was currently busy and completely unavailable.

Unfortunately, the stubborn Shu Xianxi refused to accept that logical explanation and frantically attempted to force her way past the turnstiles. The security guards immediately blocked her path and sternly warned her to leave the premises, threatening that they would be forced to contact the police if she persisted.

The moment she heard the word “police,” Shu Xianxi finally backed down and left. Even so, she continued lingering stubbornly around the perimeter of the research centre afterwards, hoping to catch a stray glimpse of the professor.

After reading the complete report, Yu Qi let out a sigh of relief. At least Shu Xianxi was not a corporate spy sent by a hostile organisation or a competitor. She simply appeared to be an overly persistent, overly dramatic, and somewhat impulsive young woman. Yu Qi casually decided that if Shu Xianxi was spotted wandering aimlessly around the research centre again, she would simply have human resources contact the girl’s parents and inform them about her disruptive behaviour.

After closing the digital report, Yu Qi left her quiet office and headed down the corridor toward the cafeteria. She wanted to grab a quick lunch and, at the same time, spend some quality time with Long Hui.

Along the way, she happened to run into Tang Qin Hao walking down the same hall.

Yu Qi immediately smiled and called out to him. “Brother Qin Hao.”

Tang Qin Hao turned around at the sound of her voice and gave her a slight, characteristic nod in greeting.

“Are you heading down to the cafeteria?” Yu Qi asked, falling into step beside him.

“Hmm…” Tang Qin Hao nodded simply.

“Then let’s walk together. I was just about to head down to have some lunch as well.” Yu Qi said with a bright smile.

Thus, the brother and sister walked side by side toward the bustling cafeteria, the comfortable silence stretching between them serving as a welcome break from their hectic, demanding day.

When they finally arrived at the wide cafeteria doors, they immediately split up for a moment to grab their respective lunches from the counters. Tang Qin Hao picked up a steaming, fragrant bowl of spicy beef noodles, while Yu Qi simply opted for a light chicken sandwich. Between the exhaustion from the previous night and her heavy workload, she just did not have much of a physical appetite today.

As she stepped away from the counter and scanned the crowded seating area, her eyes immediately landed on Long Hui’s unmistakably sharp, upright figure sitting at a corner table.

“Let’s go eat over there.” Yu Qi said, tilting her head toward the spot to guide Tang Qin Hao.

Tang Qin Hao did not raise any objections and simply followed behind her, carrying his tray. However, as they closed the distance to Long Hui’s table, two stylishly dressed women suddenly stepped out from a nearby aisle, walked right up to him, and stopped expectantly beside his seat.

Yu Qi narrowed her eyes slightly, a sharp glint passing through them as she silently observed the unfolding situation from a few paces away. She certainly was not the only one paying close attention. A few staff members around the cafeteria were secretly glancing in that direction as well, their gossip senses tingling. Most of the facility’s employees already knew exactly who Long Hui was and who he belonged to.

Tang Qin Hao also glanced sideways at his younger sister’s reaction before coolly shifting his gaze back toward Long Hui, entirely unbothered.

“Hi there… Are you sitting alone?” One of the women asked shyly, twirling a lock of her hair. “Do you mind if we sit together with you?”

“No. It’s occupied.” Long Hui rejected her immediately, his voice cuttingly cold and absolute, without him even bothering to lift his head from his phone.

The woman, who had already confidently pulled out the chair and was halfway through lowering herself into the seat, froze instantly in mid-air. Both women’s expressions immediately turned incredibly awkward and flushed.

At that exact moment, Yu Qi gracefully arrived at the edge of the table.

“Excuse me, ladies. That happens to be my seat.” Yu Qi stated with a calm, sweet smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.

The two women instantly turned bright red from root to tip from the sheer embarrassment of being caught.

“Oh… We are so sorry!” One of them quickly apologised in a hurried whisper before grabbing her mortified friend’s arm and dragging her away from the area as fast as her heels could carry her.

With the interlopers gone, Yu Qi and Tang Qin Hao casually sat down in the vacant chairs. Long Hui’s intense gaze immediately bypassed everything else and fell straight onto the lonely, small sandwich resting on Yu Qi’s tray.

“That’s all you are planning to eat for lunch?” Long Hui asked, a slight frown marring his handsome forehead.

“Yeah. I don’t really have much of an appetite today. Don’t worry about it, I will make sure to eat a much heavier meal during dinner.” Yu Qi replied casually, brushing his fussing aside with a wave of her hand.
