Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Silas’s Longing

Silas sighed while staring at Ivy’s photo longingly. He knew he had rushed too much and had almost pushed Ivy away due to his behavior.

”I still have time... Maybe if I tell her the truth, she won’t be sad... but the question is... whether she will be sorrowful or not.”

For some reason, the moment that question appeared in Silas’s heart, he felt relief and bitterness. Relief because maybe Ivy’s feelings for him weren’t as deep as his feelings for her yet.

And bitterness... because he wondered if his decades-long love would ever be fulfilled.

’Before I die... I wish I could get together with you, my love...’ He thought before kissing the photo and falling asleep while hugging it.

He terribly missed the fragrant and soothing smell he inhaled while hugging Ivy’s tender and slightly cold body.

’What a greedy man you are, Silas... Before, you were satisfied as long as she stayed near you. Now, after knowing that she likes you... You even thought of pressuring her... such a b*stard... You deserve her coldness.’

......................

The next day, after waking up, the team started to pack up. Raya walked up to her brother and, after making sure that no one was looking in her and her brother’s direction, asked cautiously,

”Brother, don’t you find it strange?”

”Hm?” Vlad, who was dismantling the tent, asked, ”What is strange?”

”Everything. They seem to know about mutated plants way better than any superhumans we have met until now. It is as if they know all the possible dangers one might encounter while staying near the mutated plants.” Raya muttered.

Teaming up with a knowledgeable team was beneficial; however, if they truly know everything, such as how speaking or loud footsteps could attract the mutated plants’ attention and how whistling could activate all the mutated plants’ consciousness, it feels suspicious.

Vlad massaged his forehead and said, ”I had asked Silas earlier, and he told me that his wife was the one who informed him about everything.”

”Wife? Does he have a wife?” Raya’s eyes widened in disbelief; if one looked closely, there was also a hint of sadness and anger hidden.

Vlad pressed his index finger to his lips with a panicked expression while looking around, ”Keep your voice down. Others don’t know it. Silas had told me, due to my suspicion.”

It wasn’t only his sister who was alert. He too was. Hence, Silas had told him some of the hidden facts.

Raya clenched her fist and stared at Silas, who was instructing Henry on something; her eyes slowly moistened.

She had known Silas since she started high school. He was her secret crush. The one she had admired for years and wanted to marry.

At first, when she got to know that he had someone whom he liked, she was heartbroken. But when she found out that Ivy, Silas’s white moonlight, didn’t pay attention to him and hadn’t said yes to him, she was thrilled.

At least she would have some chance. Hence, she completed her high school with a peaceful mind.

Thinking that when Silas came to his senses, she would appear like an angel, heal him, and then marry him.

But now... Silas has already married someone else...

”Is that Ivy?” Raya asked with gritted teeth.

”Yes.” Vlad nodded, his eyes softened at the mention of Ivy’s name.

”Why did that Ivy agree?” Raya questioned, her eyes blazing with anger.

Vlad was befuddled by his sister’s response and warned in a low voice,

”Raya. Mind your words. Is this the way you should talk about Ivy? Did you forget? She is now Silas’s wife. If you disrespect her, it is equivalent to disrespecting Silas. And what’s with your tone? Ivy agreed because she wanted to! ”Don’t entertain thoughts that will lead nowhere.”

Raya bit her lips, tears welling up in her eyes. ”But that bitch isn’t worthy of Silas...”

”Raya!” Vlad bellowed. ”Mind your words.”

Vlad’s voice attracted the attention of Silas’s team, and they looked over. But seeing Raya’s red eyes and vengeful expression, they all looked away.

Silas, on the other hand, had a thoughtful look on his face before he continued with his briefing.

Once the team continued with their journey, they noticed something peculiar.

Silas has suddenly started to maintain distance from Raya. On a closer look, he even acted cold toward her and didn’t seem as protective as he was before.

The members of the team were aware of the amicable relationship between Vlad and Silas, including Vlad’s assistance to Talia during her visit to his city for university, as well as Silas’s support for Raya during her inaugural year at university in return.

Silas treated Raya almost like his little sister, and though he didn’t share any physical touches, he always guarded her and protected her from behind the scenes.

But now... an invisible wall seemed to have formed between him and Raya.

Raya sensed it too. Her instincts screamed at her that Silas might have heard the conversation between her and Vlad... and hence, he was avoiding her.

She felt even more aggrieved.

’It’s all because of that Ivy! That bitch! If she had stayed away from Silas, everything would have been fine. I wouldn’t have lost control of my emotions. And Silas... how can he be upset at me? Even though he never displayed any intimate gestures, wasn’t it only a matter of time before we started dating? Or is it that he feels guilty and hence avoids me?’

When the last question surfaced in her mind, Raya’s eyes widened, and slowly she felt delight in her heart.

Yet before she could entertain those thoughts, a voice echoed in her mind.

’Then why did he marry Ivy? If he had feelings for you... Then why did he still end up with Ivy?’

Raya’s expression changed.

’He betrayed you, Raya! He betrayed you with that Ivy bitch. Take revenge on them... just like how you had taken against your best friend! They deserve a payback!’

Her expression slowly turned cold, and for the rest of the journey, she hardly chatted with any of Silas’s team member.
