Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 185: Chapter 185: Strange World?

Each was of a different color and size.

Jade’s eyes reflected the colors of the moon, and he suddenly felt pressure on his neck. All the air from his lungs seemed to have been sucked out as he struggled to breathe.

As the seconds trickled by, Jade started to feel dizzy due to a lack of oxygen. Life seemed to be slipping away from his body at a visible rate.

’No... no... I can’t die now....’ He thought desperately. And tried to struggle, only for his surroundings to change rapidly and slowly disintegrate into nothingness.

With a jolt, he woke up and gasped heavily. A bead of sweat trickled down his forehead, and an itch rose in his throat, followed by violent coughing. Jade felt as if the insurmountable hand was still choking him, and just when he thought the coughing would take his life, the itch vanished.

As the hot liquid trickled down from the corner of his mouth to the back of his hand, Jade immediately pressed the bell near his bed before fainting.

That night, many healers rushed to General Frank’s residence. The news of General Frank’s son being gravely ill spread throughout the military.

In a forest covered with dense fog, a few human figures slowly made their way toward the south. While moving, they tried their best to minimize the sound.

Soon they reached a clearing, and after dealing with the zombies in the area, the figures slowly whistled one by one, attracting the attention of the mutated plants.

A few dark green vines rushed in their direction, and some even sprouted from the ground, trying to attack the figures. However, the figures easily dealt with them with their thunder superpower and built a camp.

”Ugh... Thank God! We can finally speak! I am so damn tired.” A feminine voice said as she sat inside the tent.

Scarlett, Arial, and Amelia exchanged a look before rolling their eyes.

While Chloe was the most straightforward one, mercilessly stating, ”Raya, you hardly lifted your finger during the entire trip, and can you keep your voice down? The danger still hasn’t passed yet.”

Raya tucked her beautiful blue hair behind her ears and stared at Chloe with faint dissatisfaction in her eyes.

”You all might be used to suffering, but me? I haven’t! If it wasn’t for my brother’s sake, I wouldn’t have joined your team in the first place.”

Vlad, who heard their conversation, felt like crying. After the apocalypse, all of his family members died, except for Raya.

The worst part... it was Raya’s own best friend who betrayed her and caused Vlad’s father’s and mother’s deaths.

From then on, Raya started to treat everyone with hostility. Since she still hasn’t awakened any superpower, Vlad was worried that she might be die and hence brought her on the trip too.

Now... the constant bickering and fighting between Chloe and Raya truly made him feel regret for his decision.

”Young lady, no one asked you to join. We only wanted your brother here.” Chloe rolled her eyes and stated.

”Why? Were you planning to secretly kill him, or were you planning to lure him to a secret place to raid his space and get a hand on all the items he owns?” Raya asked with wariness in her eyes.

”Raya.” Vlad interrupted, but Raya only gave him a cool glance. ”Brother, you are too naive. You shouldn’t trust these people. In an apocalypse, the most poisonous virus is the darkness in human hearts, not the zombie virus.”

Others: ”...”

Vlad felt embarrassed and felt like dragging his sister to a quiet corner and putting adhesive tape on her mouth.

He wanted to scold her and let her know that the supplies that she had hoarded and thought everyone was eyeing were nothing compared to the resources the group they were traveling with had.

Silas’s family alone had hoarded enough to let 20 families eat carefree for the upcoming decade.

Compared to them... the amount Vlad has in his space couldn’t even last them a year.

”Raya, go and sleep.” He ordered, his stern expression made Raya feel aggrieved, and she zipped up the tent entrance.

Vlad: ”...” Good!

Silas walked up to Vlad and patted his shoulder. ”In situations like these, it would be better to explain everything when you both are alone.”

Vlad sighed, his shoulders heavy. ”I know. I just don’t want her to think the whole world is her enemy. I’ve tried telling her, but she always thinks I am blinded by kindness.”

Seeing him uncomfortable, Silas changed the subject and stated,

”The walk will last half a day more, and we will reach the location. Be ready. Once this adventure is over, I will treat you to a proper meal.”

Vlad’s eyes lit up before dimming. ”Thanks, bro, but after knowing that there won’t be any seafood in the meal section... I truly can’t be satisfied with any meal.”

Silas thought for a while before asking, ”What about fish-related dishes?”

Vlad sighed, ”I wish to eat fish-related dishes, but I don’t think anyone has any fresh fish; all of them either have processed fish or canned fish.”

Silas thought about the fish Ivy had but still decided not to make any decision on her behalf. What if his wife wants to save some and eat it later?

Though Ivy had repeatedly emphasized to him that she had a huge supply of fish, it wasn’t like she had a river full of fish, right?

He patted Vlad’s shoulder before leaving.

Once alone, he took out Ivy’s photo. In the photo, Ivy’s pink hair was tied in a messy bun, and she was wearing a white t-shirt paired with jean shorts.

It was one of the rare photos where Ivy was laughing, and her lively pink eyes looked mesmerizing.

”I miss you...” He muttered while rubbing the photo with his thumb. ”How are you now? Are you eating on time?”

No response.

”I will apologize to you once I return to the base. I shouldn’t have used a third person to make you understand anything. I promise not to do it again...”
