The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 2658: Facing the Overseer

Cain’s passage through the first six rings was remarkably smooth.

Every trial taught principles he had already mastered long ago. However, rather than dismissing them simply because they were familiar, he carefully analyzed every lesson and challenge, revisiting concepts that had once laid the foundation of his path. As his understanding deepened, he discovered countless subtle details that he had either overlooked or failed to fully appreciate during his first journey through the Sacred Dimension.

Although his mastery of the Flow did not experience a dramatic leap, there was still undeniable progress.

The improvements were subtle, almost imperceptible at first glance, but they strengthened the very roots of his understanding.

A smile appeared on Cain’s face as he felt those changes settling within him.

”I can feel my foundation becoming more stable. When the time comes, achieving a breakthrough will be much easier.”

That was exactly what he had hoped to gain.

The strengthening of his foundation was so valuable that it almost made him forget he had not received a single reward throughout the process.

No treasures.

No Divine Arts.

No inheritances.

Nothing.

It seemed that because he had not entered the Sacred Dimension through its intended path, the mechanisms left behind by the Red King refused to acknowledge him as a proper challenger. No matter how extraordinary his talent or accomplishments might be, the Sacred Dimension had no intention of rewarding him.

Fortunately, Cain was not particularly concerned.

From the very beginning, he had come here for only one purpose.

To reach the end of the Sacred Dimension.

Nothing else would satisfy him.

However, as he stepped into the Seventh Ring, the smile faded and a solemn expression appeared on his face.

The Seventh Ring was different.

It was the Final Arena.

The battlefield where challengers faced the Overseer.

The last time Cain had stood within this place, he had only managed to prevail because Noah had fought alongside him. Even then, victory had required a specialized weapon designed specifically to kill the terrifying guardian.

Now he stood alone.

The fact that his cultivation had increased enormously since then offered little comfort.

The Overseer was unlike any ordinary opponent.

It would simply match the challenger.

The stronger Cain became, the stronger the Overseer would become in response.

Worse still, the higher the cultivation level being mirrored, the more extraordinary and terrifying the abilities displayed by the construct.

Even with all his current power, Cain could not deny that this battle would be incredibly dangerous.

Still, hesitation had never been part of his nature.

”There is no point in delaying.”

Golden light filled his eyes as he stepped into the arena.

The moment he crossed the boundary, space trembled.

A towering figure slowly materialized in the distance.

The Overseer had arrived.

Despite everything Cain had witnessed throughout his journey—including battles against the Sacred Kings of Chaos and Order—the sight of the Overseer’s metallic frame still filled him with awe.

Its design was flawless.

Every line, every movement, and every proportion seemed crafted with a single purpose.

Perfection.

It was not merely a guardian.

It was the ultimate challenger.

The Overseer’s gaze locked onto Cain.

Instantly, an overwhelming surge of power erupted from its body.

The entire Seventh Ring shook violently as its cultivation rose until it perfectly matched Cain’s current level.

Not weaker.

Not stronger.

Perfectly equal.

Cain studied the construct carefully.

Countless thoughts flashed through his mind.

As the forefather of an Apex Race born from the fusion of two Supreme Races—the Neo-Demons and Neo-Angels—he possessed an astonishing arsenal of abilities. He could unleash bloodline powers capable of shaking worlds, invoke his True Name, summon Chaos Arts, or rely upon countless techniques accumulated across multiple universes.

Yet after a brief moment of consideration, he discarded every single option.

Everything except the Flow.

A profound golden radiance filled his eyes.

”If I want to unlock the Flow’s true potential, then I need to push it beyond my current limits.”

Without hesitation, Cain removed the black blade gifted to him by the Demon King and planted it firmly into the crystalline ground.

The weapon sank deeply into the arena.

The Overseer’s glowing eyes narrowed slightly.

Then, as if understanding Cain’s intention, it mirrored his actions.

Its massive weapon was also driven into the ground.

Golden currents began coursing through every inch of the Overseer’s metallic body.

The same golden radiance flooded Cain’s figure.

Then both of them began walking forward.

Each step caused their auras to rise higher and higher.

The Flow gathered around them like an endless ocean responding to their wills.

The atmosphere became increasingly heavy.

The distance between them steadily shrank.

Golden rivers manifested across the arena, weaving through space like celestial currents.

Neither side accelerated.

Neither side attacked.

Yet the pressure continued to build.

It felt as though two universes were slowly moving toward collision.

Finally, when only a single step separated them, both figures vanished.

The next instant, they reappeared high above the arena, bathed in oceans of golden plasma.

By partially merging with the Endless River, they had elevated their momentum to a terrifying level while drawing immense quantities of the Light of the Flow into their bodies.

Their fists collided.

”BOOOOOOM!”

A colossal explosion erupted across the sky.

Golden shockwaves spread throughout the sky, illuminating the entire Seventh Ring.

The force generated by that single exchange would have been enough to annihilate entire worlds.

Cain and the Overseer remained locked together, each pouring greater and greater amounts of the Flow into their bodies.

Golden light erupted from their figures like miniature suns.

The surrounding space distorted as the Light of the Flow surged through their limbs and exploded toward their opponent.

The clash continued for several moments before both were finally forced apart.

They were hurled backward through the sky.

Yet neither lost control.

Both regained their balance almost instantly.

A flash of surprise crossed Cain’s eyes.

”I am an Apex Race, and physical strength is one of my greatest advantages. Yet the Overseer was actually able to match me?”

The realization was astonishing.

However, as that thought crossed his mind, a small smile appeared on his face.

”No.”

His eyes sharpened.

”I won the exchange.”

As if responding to his words, a sharp cracking sound echoed through the arena.
