The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 2047: Cain vs Legion - Final Showdown

Shock and awe rippled through the minds of every super powerhouse fighting in the highest skies as they felt it—the soul aura and life force of the True Depravita of Sloth vanished.

Silence reigned for a heartbeat.

Then, slowly, smiles broke across the faces of the forces of the Scarlet Kingdom. They did not dare to lose their focus, but they could not stop their hearts from pounding faster, harder, as the truth sank in. Azazel was gone. Truly gone. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, the idea of peace seemed to be finally within their reach.

On the other side, however, the ArchDeities of the Imperium of Time trembled. Horror crept into their eyes, dread darkening their faces. They knew the nature of the Scarlet King. He was not forgiving, not merciful. If Azazel had fallen, then their future had already been written in blood. They were doomed.

But none reacted more violently than Legion.

”NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

The eldritch god’s roar ripped through the sky like the shriek of a wounded beast. Confusion spread among both allies and enemies alike. None believed something like Legion was capable of caring for anyone, least of all Azazel, so his reaction was simply too dire.

The truth became clear in the next instant.

Legion’s massive body began to tremble. Fissures tore across his form, cracks spreading through flesh and soul alike. His aura flickered, unstable, breaking apart like glass under pressure. His life force frayed, teetering on the brink of collapse.

The ArchDeities, wise and ancient, pieced the puzzle together with grim recognition. Legion was power incarnate, a being perhaps even more fearsome than Azazel at his peak. Such strength had to be restrained, controlled. And the Depravita of Sloth had ensured just that. Among the safeguards Azazel had forged was a cruel bond: their lives were connected. If Azazel perished, Legion would share his fate.

”You damned weakling!” Legion howled, his voice thick with rage and desperation. ”How dare you die and leave me like this!”

His fury echoed across the void, but no scream could halt the unraveling of his essence. His condition worsened by the moment, and there was no salvation in sight.

Anark cared nothing for Legion’s anguish. He saw an enemy on the brink of death and seized the opportunity. Without hesitation, he surged forward, his form cutting through the storm, intent on delivering the killing blow and ending the eldritch god once and for all.

But just before Anark reached him, madness erupted from Legion. His aura convulsed, twisting into something beyond reason, and with a roar his power detonated outward.

”BOOOOOOM!”

The shockwave struck like a meteor, hurling Anark back through the skies. More explosions followed, wave after wave of destructive force surging from Legion’s unstable core. No one could approach. The storm of energy made it impossible.

Legion was burning himself. His life force, his soul, every fragment of his existence was being consumed in fire. His aura climbed higher and higher as his colossal frame rose into the air, madness gleaming in his gaze.

”You want to kill me?!” Legion bellowed, his voice reverberating with hatred and despair. ”Fine! But I will take everything you hold dear with me!”

The orbs of cosmic energy orbiting his body flared, then imploded, collapsing into themselves. Legion drew it all inward, condensing every shred of his might into a single dark sphere of energy. It pulsed with a density that bent reality itself, devouring light and sound. Its presence alone seemed to erode the fabric of creation.

”Enjoy watching those you swore to protect die!” Legion’s laughter cracked with madness. ”Drown in the despair of failure!”

Then he unleashed it.

A cannon of annihilation erupted from the orb, slicing across the skies of the Everstrife Empyrean World. It was pure destruction, a beam of black energy that carried the essence of nothingness. It did not simply burn—it erased.

And Legion did not aim for the ArchDeities. He knew their deaths would amount to little. One or two slain would not satisfy his hatred. No, his target was far more devastating.

He aimed for the Scarlet Crown and the Everlife Continent.

There, behind the battlefield, waited the families, the loved ones, the friends of the warriors who fought above. Millions sheltered within the Scarlet Crown, and billions more lived across the Everlife Continent. If Legion’s cannon struck, none would survive.

”Damn it!” Anark roared, hatred blazing in his voice. His fury was not for Legion’s madness alone, but for the cowardice of it. To aim at the innocent, at the defenseless—there was no honor in such an act.

Anark had already tested the shockwaves radiating from Legion’s unstable form. He knew he could not pierce them in time. Even at his speed, even with his strength, he would not reach the cannon before it landed. Still, he threw himself forward, moving faster, faster as he burned his life force, desperate to intercept.

The people of the Scarlet Crown looked to the sky. Their eyes widened as the beam of annihilation raced toward them. They could do nothing. No weapon, no barrier, no prayer could shield them. They stood frozen, waiting for death.

But then—

A figure appeared before the Scarlet Crown.

His body was battered, his right arm gone, blood streaking his skin. Yet his eyes blazed with a will that eclipsed the sun itself. His stance was unyielding, his presence immovable. Compared to the colossal cannon racing toward them, he looked like a speck of dust, insignificant and fragile.

But when the people saw his back, their despair faltered.

Hope ignited.

Their Scarlet King stood before them.

The cannon bore down, a storm of inevitable doom. Cain extended his remaining hand. His aura surged, bending space, as a vortex of power formed around his palm. A black hole tore open, rimmed with a blazing white event horizon.

”ARGHHHHHH!”

Cain’s roar split the heavens. With sheer defiance, with indomitable will, he unleashed his own beam—a radiant torrent of white energy that clashed against Legion’s cannon of darkness.

”BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”

The world trembled.

Energy detonated in every direction as the beams collided. The clash of annihilation and creation tore through the sky, birthing storms of lightning and chaos. The heavens burned, the ground shook, and reality itself strained beneath the unimaginable power unleashed by the Scarlet King and the maddened eldritch god.

The fate of billions hung in the balance, suspended in that single, cataclysmic moment.
