Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 822: Chapter 822: Seniority Comes First, We’re Not in a Hurry

Xia Dongxue glanced at the time, realizing it was getting late. She got up and prepared to go to the kitchen to cook: ”Don’t leave today, you all can chat for a while, I’ll go make some delicious food for you.”

Hearing Xia Dongxue’s words, Xiang Anxin and Wei Fangfang stood up simultaneously: ”Auntie, we’ll help.”

Xia Dongxue quickly waved her hand: ”No need, it’s not easy for you to come over, how can I let you do the work?”

At this moment, Wen Yue also stood up: ”Sister Anxin, Sister Fangfang, Auntie is right, since it’s not easy for you to come over, it’s better for Big Brother and Second Brother to take you around. I’ll just help out in the kitchen.”

Ye Wenyang saw the Big Brother and Second Brother also standing up: ”Alright, you guys go and chat, we’ll take care of Mom with Sister Wenyue.”

With that said, he pulled Ye Wenyue along to catch up with Xia Dongxue who had walked out.

After they left, Wei Fangfang asked: ”The younger sister you found, where is her husband’s family from?”

Ye Wenhui and Ye Wenhao exchanged a glance, Ye Wenhui said: ”My brother-in-law is also a soldier, after my sister finishes her college entrance exams, she’ll probably join him in the army.”

Xiang Anxin, being observant, noticed that although Ye Wenhui answered, he avoided what Wei Fangfang had asked.

She couldn’t help but think that the little sister-in-law whom she had never met was not simple, and probably her marital family wasn’t either. But she didn’t bring it up further.

Xia Dongxue moved quickly, right when Huo Jingrui had returned, bringing sausage and cured chicken which came in handy, adding much flavor to today’s meal.

Though Xia Dongxue’s cooking skills were average, these sausages and cured chicken had been stored in a special place for a long time, naturally enhanced by some unique space aroma, so of course, the taste didn’t need mentioning.

Xiang Anxin and Wei Fangfang kept complimenting Xia Dongxue’s excellent cooking, even the clueless Ye Wenyang and Ye Wenyue smiled and praised Xia Dongxue’s greatly improved culinary skills.

Naturally, Xia Dongxue was happy to be praised, but she was also puzzled, when had her cooking skills improved, as she herself wasn’t aware?

After the meal, Ye Wenyue and Ye Wenxu, the siblings, went to the kitchen to wash dishes.

After brewing a pot of tea, Xia Dongxue spoke: ”Anxin, Fangfang, you’ve been getting along with Wenhui and Wenhao for more than half a year now, I’m curious about your thoughts?”

Afraid to be misunderstood, she added: ”After all, they’re not young anymore, and many kids their age can run around. As you know, their own younger sister got married a while ago, and as Wen Yue mentioned earlier, she has a boyfriend too. It’s not good that your sisters are getting married and they remain quiet.”

Upon hearing this, Xiang Anxin’s ears turned red; she shyly glanced at Ye Wenhui and softly spoke: ”My family is naturally pleased with Wenhui, but the next steps require both families to sit down and discuss.”

These words clearly stated her position, making Xia Dongxue very happy: ”Great, great, great, once Wenhui’s dad returns, I’ll talk to him, then both our families can set a time to meet so we can finalize your marriage.”

Xiang Anxin had no objections: ”Alright, I’ll inform my family when I return.”

With the eldest son’s matters looking promising, Xia Dongxue turned to look at Wei Fangfang and second son Ye Wenhao: ”What about you two, what are your thoughts?”

Wei Fangfang wasn’t as straightforward as Xiang Anxin: ”Wenhao and I haven’t been together for long, so I think we should date a while longer before discussing. Moreover, we’re not in a rush, we need to follow the proper order.”

Initially still smiling, Ye Wenhao couldn’t help but stop when he heard this. Wei Fangfang’s words made sense, but it just inexplicably put him in a bad mood: ”Mom, she’s right, this is a lifelong matter, we need to be cautious.”
