Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1539 Plan B

The cold crept through Adamʼs flesh.

He fought amid a surging horde of frost undead, striking them down again and again as they closed in from all sides.

Each strike shattered frozen bones and sent icy fragments flying, but the cold was beginning to seep deeper. It crept into his muscles and bones, stiffening his joints and making every movement heavier, rougher than before.

But he forced himself onward, circulating fire mana around his body to keep the fire at bay. Each punch burned through ice and rotten flesh alike, dropping one undead only for another to take its place.

Surrounded by cold and death, Adam pressed on, fighting through the numbness as the battle dragged on without mercy.

By now, he had already realized the Winter Lordʼs battle plan.

The Elder had decided not to fight him head-on, instead letting his undead

army wear him down until the bitter cold from the Snowstorm finally took care of him.

Meanwhile, the Winter Lord remained hidden amid the frost and snow, biding time as he waited for Adam to fall.

Damn it, even my Sphere of Resonance is getting hindered in this blizzard, he thought to himself.

Not only that, but even the Rank 4 undead knight had expertly hidden itself, attacking him when he was overwhelmed and then quickly retreating.

The Winter Lord had commanded the undead knight not to get too close to Adam and only use guerrilla tactics. After all, he still didnʼt know how the raven-haired youth had dealt with the other undead knight.

I need to find a way to lure him in, Adam thought to himself as he sent a Mana Vortex-level undead flying with a side kick.

But first, I need to take care of this undead knight!

He honed his senses to his immediate surroundings as he continued to deal with one undead after another. At the same time, he purposely displayed a wide opening.

And sure enough, within moments, the undead knight appeared before him.

It raised its greatsword and hacked toward his torso once again. Adam grinned. Instead of casting a defensive spell, he stepped into the strike and caught the knightʼs gauntleted hands with precision.

He pivoted smoothly, twisted his body inward, and drove his shoulder forward. The throw was brutal. The towering knight was ripped off balance and slammed into the frozen ground with crushing force.

Adam quickly wove a hand seal and prepared to exile the creature into the depths of the spirit world. Before he could finish, however, waves of undead surged toward him from all sides, forcing him to abandon the spell and retreat reluctantly.

Dragonshit!

The raven-haired youth was forced to fight passively once again. The undead knight had disappeared behind ranks of undead soldiers. Meanwhile, the Winter Lord was still nowhere to be found.

However, Adam knew the Elder was nearby. After all, the Snowstorm was still active. In fact, it was growing more and more intense with each passing moment.

Just how much mana is he expending on the spell? He wondered.

Time was of the essence. If he didnʼt take care of the Winter Lord soon, he feared the biting cold would get to him.

Of course, he could always fly away and retreat to a safer distance. But that would also give the Winter Lord a chance to escape. And he couldnʼt allow that.

This was the perfect opportunity to weaken the Cult of Bones by killing one of its Elders. Who knew when a golden opportunity like this would come by again?

Time for Plan B, he thought solemnly.

Adam sped through the ranks of the undead, weaving between frozen bodies and shattered ground, drawing them after him toward a narrow valley in the distance.

He slowed just enough to sell the act, letting the undead knight strike him again and again. Shallow cuts, heavy blows, each one making his movements look rougher and more desperate.

From within the storm, the Winter Lord watched.

Heʼs fleeing, he thought.

Keeping a cautious distance, the Elder followed, guiding the horde forward and willing the snowstorm to trail them like a moving wall of white. Visibility remained poor, and the wind howled as the cold pressed in.

All the while, the venom worked its way through his body. It burned, spread, and gnawed at him with every passing moment. Despite utilizing his Innate Physique to slow the spread of the poison, it became difficult with each second that passed.

This was a highly potent venom, the likes of which he had never seen.

Just a little more, he thought solemnly as they finally entered the valley.

Because of the low visibility due to the spell, even the Winter Lord hadnʼt fully realized the type of terrain he and his undead army had just set foot in.

This narrow valley was the perfect place to set a trap!

Steep rock walls rose on both sides, leaving little room to maneuver and cutting off any chance of spreading out. The undead were forced into tight ranks, their numbers working against them as they clogged the confined space.

There was no flanking, no surrounding, only a single path forward. For an army that relied on overwhelming numbers, the valley turned that strength into a

liability.

Through the thick white haze of the blizzard, the Winter Lord could just barely make out the outlines of the towering cliff walls on either side of the pass.

But by the time he realized what that meant, it was already too late. Brilliant magic circles flared to life along the surface of the cliffs on both sides. Their light cut through the Snowstorm, harsh and blinding. The Winter Lordʼs eyes widened as he instantly understood Adamʼs intent.

Before he could cancel his summons, however, the world around him shook. Explosions thundered from both cliff walls. Rock and earth tore free in massive chunks, and boulders collapsed inward all at once. The valley roared as tons of stone crashed down, burying the undead army beneath the avalanche of rubble

and ice.

In an instant, the pass became a grave.

The Winter Lord reacted instantly, erecting multiple layers of barriers around himself to avoid being crushed beneath the collapsing cliffs.

Stone and ice slammed against his defenses, the weight of nature bearing down as he narrowly avoided sharing the same fate as his undead army. Almost a minute later, the Elder emerged from the debris, relatively unscathed.

Cracked mana barriers dissolved around him, and the glow of defensive artifacts dimmed as they completed thier task.

The Snowstorm weakened, its howling winds fading. Visibility slowly returned, revealing the devastation left behind.

He staggered and coughed, blood spilling from his mouth in thick bursts as the venom pushed deeper into his body. His breathing grew labored, and his focus

wavered.

At last, with a grim expression, he cancelled the spell entirely. He couldnʼt sustain it anymore with the poison constantly wreaking havoc inside of him.

The Snowstorm finally dissipated.

And in the next moment...

He lost connection to his last remaining undead knight.

The Winter Lordʼs eyes widened as he realized the gravity of the situation.

Adam was still alive and kicking, and he had just dealt with a powerful Rank 4 undead knight.

The Elder quickly weaved a series of hand seals, preparing to cast Flight and a

few defensive spells.

But before he could even finish the physical component of the spell...

SPLAT!

A familiar greatsword tore viciously through his back and burst out from his

chest.
