Chapter 1536  Raging Snowstorm

A torrent of flames burst forth from Adamʼs palms.

It cascaded down like a burning waterfall, engulfing the Winter Lord, his undead knights, and the few remaining skeletons and zombies clustered around him.

Fire roared across the frozen ground, steam exploding into the air as ice met flame. Undead bodies burned rapidly, their frozen armor cracking and melting as the heat tore through them.

The battlefield was swallowed by fire, the clash of opposing forces turning the icy tundra into a scene of raging destruction.

High up in the air, Adam watched coldly as the fire swallowed the Winter Lord and his minions. He remained on full alert, for he knew the Elder wasnʼt going down so easily.

And just as he expected…

In the next instant, more than a hundred frozen spears tore through the inferno and streaked toward him with deadly accuracy.

Adam moved. He shifted and twisted through the air, agile and fluid, dodging the ice projectiles like a bird in flight. Each spear missed by mere inches as he weaved between them, his Sphere of Resonance working on overdrive.

Even as he evaded, he didnʼt forget to keep an eye on the Winter Lord and his undead knights beneath the flames.

Suddenly, his eyes narrowed.

The flames blanketing the ground were extinguished in an instant, snuffed out as if they had never existed. In their place spread a cold, oppressive aura. It was heavy, dreadful, and unmistakably dangerous.

Rank 4 Spell: Snowstorm!

A violent storm of ice and wind erupted without warning.

Visibility dropped to almost nothing as thick sheets of snow whipped through the air, turning the battlefield into a white blur. The temperature plunged even further, the cold biting deep into the flesh and bones.

Snow spread across everything the eye could see, piling up in moments, burying the scorched ground and shattered ice alike. The wind howled relentlessly, carrying razor-sharp flakes that stung exposed skin.

Even Adam couldnʼt ignore it.

He had to admit that the Winter Lordʼs mastery over ice magic was truly something. A chill crept through him, and he couldnʼt help but shiver despite himself. Snow kept blowing into his eyes, forcing him to squint as he fought to keep his vision clear amid the storm.

However, he could still see. He had spent much of his life in the darkness. What was a little wind and snow?

That was why when one of the undead knights silently crept up behind him, he instantly knew.

The Rank 4 undead knight raised its arms high and brought its spiked mace crashing down toward the raven-haired youth. Adam turned and raised a single hand to block the incoming blow.

Bam!

With no footing in mid-air, the impact sent him hurling toward the ground. However, just as he was about to slam into the frozen tundra, he weaved a quick hand seal.

An arched gate formed behind him, and he fell through it, vanishing instantly. A fraction of a second later, he reappeared directly above the undead knight that had just attacked him.

Adam pressed his palms against the creatureʼs armor and spoke in a cold, dignified voice:

”Exile.”

Another arched gate appeared right before the undead knight. With a thunderous shove, Adam pushed the vile creature straight into it.

The gate rippled, then began to fade. As its outline dissolved, the undead knight was dragged away, lost in the depths of the spirit world.

But the danger was far from over.

Alarm bells rang violently in Adamʼs mind. Instincts took over, his hands wove a series of hand seals, and a mana barrier snapped into place around him.

Clang!

The second undead knight appeared at his side and swung its greatsword at his torso. The blade struck his arcane shield and was stopped cold.

Adam harrumphed and drew back his fist, ready to strike the creature with a devastating punch. But at the last moment, his eyes narrowed, and he was forced to shift to defense instead.

Rank 4 Spell: Rain of Frozen Arrows!

Hidden somewhere within the raging Snowstorm and completely concealed from sight, the Winter Lord unleashed another deadly spell.

As its name implied, a thousand ice arrows poured down from above, blanketing the sky and raining toward Adam and the undead knight alike.

The raven-haired youth raised his mana shield, blocking the first wave. Arrow after arrow slammed into it until fine fractures spread across its surface. Before the barrier could shatter, he vanished, teleporting to a safe distance in the blink of an eye.

The undead knight, however, was not so fortunate. Dozens of frozen arrows pierced its body, dragging it down from the air. It crashed into the frozen earth below with a heavy impact.

But that was the nature of the undead.

They were already dead. Necromancers wielded them without restraint, sacrificing their bodies freely to wear down the enemies.

The undead would rise again.

Their enemies would not.

Somewhere in the heart of the intense Snowstorm, the Winter Lord stood unmoving. Snow and wind churned around him, obscuring his figure and even his presence.

Clusters of undead surrounded him, many of them radiating the dense aura of a Mana Vortex Magus. Their frozen figures stood in silent ranks, eyes glowing faintly through the white haze.

From the cracked, ice-choked ground beyond, more undead continued to rise and gather, drawn toward him by his will.

What happened to the knight? The Winter Lord thought in alarm.

He had suddenly lost connection to the one wielding the mace. It had happened too fast for him to discern how the masked man had dealt with it so decisively. That uncertainty only deepened his unease.

Heʼs even more dangerous than I thought!

More and more undead creatures steadily closed in, forming a defensive ring around him. The Winter Lord had lost both sight and presence of the masked man, forcing him to go on high alert.

I can sense the other undead knight, he thought.

It should reach my position soon.

He willed the Snowstorm lto weaken. It was like a double-edged sword. The cold was extremely harmful to his foes. Although he could endure the cold without any issue, the loss of visibility was a liability in a fight where a single mistake meant death.

As he focused on reducing the spellʼs intensity, an undead zombie in tattered robes and donning a dented helmet near him suddenly moved in a way that completely defied his expectations.

Before he could even realize what was happening, a sharp dagger drove into his back and ripped out through his abdomen.

The Winter Lordʼs eyes widened.

Blood spilled onto the snow, staining the white ground red. Slowly, he turned toward the undead creature that had struck him — an action that should not have been even remotely possible under the fundamental principles of the School of Necromancy.

The undead zombie in the dented helmet tilted its head ever so slightly.

And then…

It laughed.
