Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 97: Chapter 95: Receiving the Reward.

Su Lin’s fanged teeth tightly gripped the snowy owl’s throat.

In no time, the light faded from the owl’s eyes.

After a fierce struggle, this raptor of the sky finally met its demise.

A few faint grey system notifications flickered before Su Lin’s eyes.

Strength from Weakness!

Bloody Battle!

Talent Showdown!

Ultimate Victory!

Target Deceased!

Combat Rating: S.

[Combat Rating for this battle: S. You have gained twenty Evolution Potions.]

The battle hadn’t been too tough, earning only an S combat rating.

Compared to the Variant Species Lynx, this snowy owl, despite its aerial advantage, lacked the same ferocity.

It also couldn’t withstand pain and would become utterly disoriented once injured.

Therefore, killing a snowy owl was much simpler than killing a lynx.

An S Rating yielded only twenty Evolution Potions.

It was better than nothing, and Evolution Potions were equally important for Su Lin’s journey of evolution.

Next,

he began to consume the body of the snowy owl right there on the snowy mountain.

Close to gaining another thousand Evolution Points for his next level-up, Su Lin estimated that eating this Variant Species Snowy Owl should get him there.

Rip and tear!

Su Lin didn’t loosen his grip with his fanged teeth, and instead tore a large piece of flesh from the snowy owl’s throat,

swallowing it into his stomach.

“Ding! The host has consumed a Variant Species Snowy Owl and gained 54 Evolution Points.”

These Evolution Points were somewhat less than what the lynx carcass provided.

Upon eating the meat of a Variant Species Lynx for the first time, he had gained a full 60 Evolution Points.

Even so, the fifty-some points far surpassed those of ordinary species.

With the incentive of a substantial Evolution Points reward, Su Lin began to voraciously eat the Variant Species Snowy Owl’s flesh amidst the blustering snowstorm.

“Ding! The host has consumed a Variant Species Snowy Owl and gained 51 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! The host has consumed a Variant Species Snowy Owl and gained 48 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! The host has consumed a Variant Species Snowy Owl and gained 45 Evolution Points.”

….

Su Lin ate roughly seven or eight pounds of snowy owl meat before he stopped.

The meat of the snowy owl was quite tasty,

As with any Variant Species meat, the flavor was certainly delectable.

The flesh that entered his stomach provided Su Lin with around three hundred Evolution Points.

At this moment,

Su Lin also began searching for the essence within the snowy owl’s body.

The essence of a Variant Species was easy to find, emitting a faint fluorescence.

“Hmm? Is this… the liver?”

He quickly located the essence within the Variant Species Snowy Owl.

This part had an extremely pleasant fragrance, much nicer than the Lynx Heart.

It made Su Lin unable to resist swallowing it in one gulp.

The liver of the snowy owl carried a potent gamey taste but was tender and chewy when eaten.

Once swallowed, a massive surge of energy spread through his limbs and body!

Beyond that, the rich aroma seemed to be quickly purified within his stomach.

“Ding! Congratulations to the host for consuming a Variant Species Snowy Owl liver (Level 10), gaining 500 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! Congratulations to the host for consuming the residual Talent Essence from the Variant Species Snowy Owl, yielding one Talent Serum.”

Two notification messages popped up, brightening Su Lin’s eyes!

Consuming the essence of the Variant Species Snowy Owl granted him a full five hundred Evolution Points,

Though not as much as a Lynx Heart, it was still impressive.

This brought Su Lin very close to advancing to Level 9.

But what surprised Su Lin even more was that within the liver of the snowy owl, there was residual Talent Essence!

As for the Lynx Heart, it was missing,

likely because it had been a whole night before it was consumed, causing the essence to completely dissipate.

“It seems that in the future, when hunting down Variant Species, I must first consume their essence parts. After all, a Talent Serum is quite a nice reward.”

Su Lin looked at the massive haul,

and felt from the bottom of his heart that this trip was very worthwhile!

Originally, I had only planned to capture one or two Snowy Owls and gain a couple hundred Evolution Points.

But then I encountered a Variant Species Snowy Owl!

Indeed, it is only by hunting Variant Species that I can accelerate my path of evolution.

This battle was much easier relative to the bloodied fights with the Lynx and the Wolf Pack.

However, the rewards were not much different.

Excited by the huge gains, Su Lin started to carry back the body of the Variant Species Snowy Owl.

As for the female Snowy Owl’s body and the several frozen young Snowy Owls, he didn’t waste them either.

After doubling back once, he carried them all to the cave.

This fierce blizzard sweeping through the Arctic showed no signs of stopping, and naturally, one could never have too much food in the cave.

Upon returning, the young wolves also gathered around.

Whining softly, they looked at the food Su Lin had brought back.

Fairly speaking, aside from the Little Lone Wolf, the other members of the Wolf Clan did not contribute much to hunting for food.

In any other Wolf Pack, they might have been driven out long ago.

But Su Lin did not mind.

After all, it was Wolf Sister, Grey White Little Wolf, Cousin, and Xiao Hui; they had all been with him for nearly a year now.

As long as no major calamities occurred, he planned to lead them, as well as the Wolf Pack, onward!

“Ao!”

Su Lin howled softly to signal the pups to be quiet,

and they immediately fell silent.

Then Su Lin started to divide some of the Variant Species Snowy Owl Meat among them.

Meat from Variant Species could allow Ordinary Species to grow faster and more vigorously.

Especially the Little Lone Wolf,

who had now become a primary focus of Su Lin’s nurturing.

Even the Evolution Potion was given to the Little Lone Wolf once more.

“Ao! Ao!”

The inherently Variant Species Little Lone Wolf had a very sharp intuition.

When the Evolution Potion was used, it kept howling and turning its body, but couldn’t find anything.

Afterward,

once the food was divided, they each took their portion and ran to their own corners.

They started plucking feathers and cherished eating the Variant Species Snowy Owl Meat.

Having consumed Lynx Meat from Variant Species throughout these days,

Su Lin had eaten about fifty pounds, while Xiao Hui, Little Lone Wolf, Wolf Sister, Grey White Little Wolf, Cousin, and the others had eaten about fifty pounds in total.

He planned to take the remaining seventy or eighty pounds of Variant Species Lynx Meat to Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom.

After all, the more frequently Variant Species were seen recently, the more it meant that Su Lin could hunt more in the future.

But it also meant that the world was becoming increasingly dangerous.

So it was better to share some of the Variant Species meat with Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom, to help them grow rapidly.

As for the Snowy Owl Meat, it could sustain Su Lin for a while.

Once finished, he estimated he would advance to Level 9.

By then, it would be time to see who truly reigned over this region, himself or that Variant Species Grizzly Bear!

With thoughts like these, Su Lin once again surveyed the current food reserves in the cave.

The Musk Ox Meat captured a month ago had not been completely eaten, with over three hundred pounds left.

The Reindeer Meat brought from Wolf Dad had been gnawed upon daily by Wolf Sister, Grey White Little Wolf, and Cousin, so they had finished that over these days.

There were still over five hundred pounds of Walrus Meat left, and more than eight hundred pounds of Moose Meat, and with the addition of the food brought today, the cave’s food storage officially exceeded two thousand pounds.

With these food reserves, facing the blizzard outside, the entire Wolf Pack felt a bit more at ease.

Outside the cave, the blizzard showed no sign of stopping, still howling fiercely.

Su Lin also went to the cave entrance to check it out, looking at the rampant swirling snow outside,

planning to visit Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom in two or three days, regardless of whether the storm had ceased.
