The next morning, before Lin Yi could wake up, he received a call from Ning Che.

In order not to disturb Ji Qingyan’s sleep, Lin Yi declined.

However, Ji Qingyan, who never slept in, had already heard the phone ringing.

“One of the heads of department.”

Lin Yi waved his phone in front of Ji Qingyan’s eyes and saw the words “Team Leader Ning” written on it. She turned over and continued sleeping.

Although she did not plan to sleep in, it was only five o’clock in the morning, so Ji Qingyan needed to sleep for a while longer.

Lin Yi took his phone to the bathroom and called Ning Che back.

“Did anything happen?”

“It’s fine. Why did you want me to investigate a dead person?”

“Huh? Dead?” Lin Yi frowned, his heart beating faster. “What did you find out?”

“We’ve got a fix on a man based on the portrait you gave me. His name is Song Jinmin. He died in a plane accident two years ago.”

Ning Che’s information was like a bomb to Lin Yi.

He had thought of many different identities of the other party, but he had never thought that the person would end up being a dead man.

“Anything else?”

“This person is very impressive.” Ning Che said concisely.

“He went overseas when he was 16 years old and has been operating overseas all these years. You haven’t forgotten the Black Gold Corporation, right? He had been up to the same thing as Jeffrey.”

With Ning Che’s explanation, the confusion in Lin Yi’s heart quickly cleared up.

“If we compare the two, who is stronger?”

“It must be Song Jinmin.” Ning Che paused for a moment. “According to reliable sources, he was already A-class when he died. He was ridiculously strong!”

“A-class!”

Song Jinmin’s level was far beyond Lin Yi’s expectations.

He was actually so strong. This completely surpassed Lin Yi’s expectations.

“When 1 was investigating him, Boss Liu even asked me why I wanted to investigate this person. 1 had to talk for a long time before I managed to fool him.” Ning Che said.

“Did something happen on your side? Why are you investigating a dead person?”

“I met this person in Doora.”

Lin Yi didn’t hide much from Ning Che, since there was no need to.

She was different from Liu I long. The other party belonged to the Central Guards Brigade, but Ning Che was on Lin Yi’s side.

There were some things he could say to her, but not to Liu Hong.

“Nonsense.” Ning Che said.

“He’s already dead. How could you have met him? Don’t tell me you met his twin brother.”

“That’s possible.” Lin Yi said.

“Alright, you don’t have to worry about this. 1 was just asking out of curiousity. How’s the situation on your side?”

“There’s been some progress.” Ning Che said.

“1 hooked up with the vice president of Fuseby. He’s in charge of this auction. Let’s see if we can get some information about this from him.”

“Be careful. Contact me if you find anything wrong.”

“Mua… Alright.”

After hanging up, Lin Yi sat on the toilet bowl in the bathroom and pondered for a long time.

Ning Che’s words carried some weight. The person he saw might very well be Song Jinmin’s twin brother.

But yesterday, he could calmly stop two police cars, and the other party had listened obediently.

This was not something an ordinary person could do. If one did not have significant status and ability, it was impossible to do such a thing.

Therefore, if the person he met yesterday was actually Song Jinmin’s twin brother, could he have also reached Song Jinmin’s A-class level?

Not necessarily.

This isn’t like the Tang Family in Douluo, where they have dual Soul Douluos©

Typically, among siblings, there was usually one standout individual while the rest are relatively average.

Of course, it was not entirely impossible, but that person named Song Jinmin might also have faked his death to conceal his identity.

Compared to these two possibilities, Lin Yi believed in the second more.

Whoosh!

Lin Yi took a deep breath.

Originally, he thought that Doora was a golden city filled with tycoons. He never expected it to be a city of sin.

Thinking of this, Lin Yi sent a message to Qin Yingyue.

When they last met in Yanjing, the two of them had exchanged contact information, but this was the first time Lin Yi had called Qin Yingyue.

“Did you send Song Jinmin?”

“You know who he is?” Qin Yingyue was slightly surprised. “Did you find out through the Central Guards Brigade?”

When Qin Yingyue said the words ‘Central Guards Brigade’, Lin Yi became certain.

His mother, whom he had just acknowledged, knew more than he had imagined. She was not just a middle-aged woman who only knew how to spend money.

“Right.”

“The two of you have just arrived and are unfamiliar with this place. 1 was afraid that you would encounter danger, so I asked someone to follow you.”

Lin Yi didn’t say anything and just nodded.

He had no other motive for making this call. He just wanted to confirm the other party’s identity.

Now, he could confirm that the other party had faked his death!

It was Song Jinmin!

“Did something happen?” Qin Yingyue asked over the phone.

“It’s nothing.” Lin Yi said.

“I have some other things to attend to today. You can take Ji Qingyan out for shopping during the day.”

It was said that a mother knew her son best. Even though they had not seen each other for more than twenty years, Qin Yingyue guessed Lin Yi’s thoughts immediately.

“You want to get rid of her?”

“Yeah.”

“Are you trying to find out about the Fuseby auction?”

“You could even guess that?”

“I was also invited to participate in it. I heard that there are some accessories made of Bass Ore on display. You guys are from the Central Guards Brigade. When you hear of such a thing, you will definitely participate, right?”

“I’m just checking it out. The Central Guards Brigade usually doesn’t participate in such matters.”

The Bass Ore that would appear at the auction would only weight a few dozen grams. No one at the national level would care about such a small amount. It would be very embarrassing.

However, they would still secretly observe the matter to prevent unexpected influence.

If another party became too powerful, it would pose a threat to the country.

Just like the 9/11 incident.

“Wait for my update. I’ll help you ask about this.”

“There’s no need to go through so much trouble. Just help me take Ji Qingyan away.”

“You brat…”

Qin Yingyue scolded with a smile, “Leave it to me.”

“Yeah.”

After hanging up, Lin Yi fell into deep thought.

Just because his mother could control Song Jinmin didn’t mean that he was her subordinate. Besides, she wouldn’t organize something of this nature anyway.

The root cause of all this might be his father, whom he had never met before.

However, Song Jinmin had already reached A-class, so what level was his father at?

Shaking his head, Lin Yi didn’t want to think about it anymore.

The matter in front of him was too complicated. He could only take it one step at a time and go with the flow.

After all, his goal was that man in black!

The rest was not important.

Getting up and stretching, Lin Yi walked out of the bathroom. Ji Qingyan was sleeping soundly, but her posture was not very elegant. She was occupying two-thirds of the bed.

Sigh…

Lin Yi sighed. He had tricked her once yesterday, and he was going to trick her again today. He really felt sorry for her.
