A Chemist's Interstellar Saga

Chapter 79: Arix’s Decision
Chapter 79: Arix’s Decision

In the official livestream of the Alliance...

Unlike the excited viewers, Noland felt very calm now.

When their military research institute first learned that there was hope for the Psychic Healer, their cheers almost blew the roof off the building.

Thinking of this, Noland smiled. Then he stopped keeping everyone in suspense. He looked at the livestream camera with bright eyes, and said, ”I believe everyone is as excited as I am, so I won’t waste any more time. Let me introduce these five potions.”

Noland picked up the first potion and displayed it in a hologram in the livestream. While showing it, he said, ”The first potion is for treating psychic power poisoning. To show the effect of the potion, we invited five patients with mental illnesses today. The first one is a patient with psychic power poisoning. This is the patient’s medical report. Everyone can click to view it.”

After Noland finished speaking, a medical report appeared in the livestream. Arix, curious, also clicked to take a look.

Military Research Institute Medical Report

Patient Name: Dan Kruse

Title: Ensign, the Fifth Legion

Examination Results

Body: Fractured lower leg has healed, heart and lungs replaced with cloned organs. Long-term rest recommended.

Brain: Due to complications, brain nerves and blood vessels are withered and ruptured.

Psychic Power Examination: Due to insect bio-poison, psychic power is exhausted and polluted, with a possible future rampage. Treatment is advised, and it should be done as soon as possible.

Before the livestream, this medical report would have been a death sentence. But now, there is hope for a cure. And it’s officially certified. Thinking of this, the viewers became more and more eager for what was to come, and some impatient viewers started urging in the chat.

Noland smiled and waited until the time was right before finally speaking, ”Everyone has seen the medical report. Now we will let Ensign Kruse drink the potion and see the effect. Will it be despair or a miracle? Let’s see.”

After speaking, Noland aimed the scanner at Kruse until the screen showed the same medical data as Kruse’s. Then he handed the potion to the eager Ensign Kruse.

Kruse was not in good shape. Since learning about his psychic power poisoning, he refused to rest properly. Being in despair for a long time made him look as terrible as an addict.

At this moment, his eyes were sunken, and his dry, twig-like hands eagerly grabbed the potion. He opened the cap and gulped it down in one go.

Because he drank too quickly, he choked, but he was afraid of spitting it out, so he covered his mouth tightly with both hands, his face turning red.

The viewers in the livestream didn’t laugh or look down on Kruse, at all.

They couldn’t imagine what it was like to experience such despair, and they watched in respectful silence.

Those who had truly experienced despair could empathize with Kruse. They knew that if they were in his place, they might look even worse.

Even though the livestream ran at a normal speed, the viewers felt like time was dragging on.

The only comfort was that Ensign Kruse was now sitting calmly in his chair, with a hint of contentment on his face, and he finally fell asleep comfortably.

Everyone silently agreed not to disturb him and kept their eyes on the data on the monitor.

The data increased slowly, but it felt like heavy hammers striking their chests, making them blush and breathe heavily with excitement.

When Kruse’s psychic power data finally showed he was healthy, the viewers went wild, their joyful cheers echoing everywhere.

Even spies from other counties cheered when they saw the results. However, they were soon reminded by their companions, leading to embarrassed coughs and awkward silence. Deep down, they were still happy because they had family and friends who were waiting in despair, too.

The livestream didn’t last long, only two hours in total, but it caused a shockwave throughout the Alliance and all the nations across the galaxy, like a nuclear bomb.

The Alliance’s Foreign Affairs phone lines were flooded with calls from other countries, and they all wanted to buy the Psychic Healer. The Alliance responded that they would make the formula public, but the potion would only be available for purchase to non-Alliance countries after a month.

When Arix saw this news, she exclaimed, ”Brilliant!”

Making the formula public had pros and cons. The downside was that the Alliance wouldn’t get the biggest profit. However, the upsides were greater: it would bring a good reputation to the Alliance and allow them to escape being a target.

As the developer of the potion, Arix would no longer be the focus of attention. After all, if the formula was widely available, there wouldn’t be much interest in targeting her.

The key point was that the potion required Arix Crystal as an ingredient, and only Arix had it, which meant she had significant control over the industry.

At the moment, Arix was busy negotiating a contract with Quillan, who had suddenly shown up. The agreement was that she would produce the Arix Crystal, and the Alliance would give her 10% of the profits from selling it.

Arix was very tempted by the offer, but she decided to change her share of the profits from 10% to 5%.

”You lowered it down? Why?” Quillan was stunned. He had never seen anyone turn down money like this before.

”Sir, I know many people are fighting to protect me, so I want the 5% profit to go to those protecting me and those who have been burdened because of me.”

Lately, Arix had often seen on the interstellarnet that the Fifth Legion frequently faced insectoid invasions. She couldn’t help but think this was related to her, given her past abduction by the insectoids.

Quillan looked deeply at the young girl before him and then saluted her, his gaze firm and solemn. ”I will convey your wishes to the president. Also, protecting you is their duty, so please don’t feel burdened.”

Arix smiled but said nothing. After signing all the contracts, she politely saw the busy Quillan off.

As she watched Quillan walk away, Arix yawned sleepily. Remembering that she had to return to the training base early the next day, Arix bid goodnight to Cupid and the others before lying down and going to sleep.
