Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2893: Treasure

One day earlier, a calamity unfolded on a remote planet at the edge of the Magus Alliance.

The world had once been quiet, known only for a small research faction that preferred isolation over influence. That peace was shattered when warships descended from the sky, their shadows covering the floating islands below. Cannon fire rained down relentlessly, beams of destructive energy tearing through cities and settlements, reducing them to flames within moments.

Panic spread across the land.

Tens of thousands of civilians perished under the bombardment, while the faction’s magus rose in desperate resistance. Thousands fought back under the command of several grand magus, but the raiders were overwhelming in both number and preparation. One island after another fell, until only the central research facility remained.

A massive barrier protected it, shimmering under constant bombardment.

Above the largest warship, the raider captain stood stiffly, sweat running down his face as he turned toward the figure behind him. His voice trembled as he bowed deeply.

”My apologies, Lord... the facility, it’s protected by a powerful barrier, our weapons are insufficient to break them”

The man he addressed stood still, his sharp, eagle-like eyes narrowing slightly.

”We have supported you for years,” he said coldly. ”And yet you fail at something this simple.”

The captain immediately dropped to his knees, his forehead striking the deck as fear overtook him. He dared not raise his head again.

After a brief silence, the pressure in the air suddenly lessened.

When he looked up, the figure was already gone.

Although the research center’s barrier was formidable—layered with high-grade formations—it was ultimately meaningless before the being who now stood above it.

The man with eagle-like eyes was no ordinary cultivator.

He was a Supreme being.

With deliberate precision, his arms moved through a series of complex sealing gestures, each motion drawing upon immense cosmic energy. The sky responded instantly, darkening as a crimson hue spread across the heavens, as if the world itself had been stained with blood.

The temperature rose.

Then—

Fire descended.

Massive flaming meteors formed high above and began crashing down toward the barrier one after another, each carrying the force of a tier-eight spell. The first impact sent violent ripples across the protective dome, the second caused visible fractures, and by the third, cracks had already begun to spread like spiderwebs across its surface.

The surrounding lands did not survive even that long.

Everything outside the barrier had already been reduced to a sea of flames. Cities burned, the air thick with ash and death, as no living being remained within the devastated landscape.

Another meteor fell.

Then another.

With a final, deafening impact, the barrier shattered completely, fragments of light scattering into the burning sky.

Silence followed.

The Supreme stepped forward.

With a single motion, he crossed the distance and entered the facility as if no defenses had ever existed.

Inside, an elderly man stood waiting.

His figure appeared frail, his robes worn and stained, yet his eyes were filled not with fear—but with despair and fury. He had already witnessed the destruction of everything he had built.

”You finally reveal yourself... Hose the Ash frost Sovereign,” the old man said, his voice trembling with rage. ”I knew it... it was always you. Hiding behind your minions, sending them to carry out your crimes...”

His voice broke, grief overtaking him.

”You slaughtered them... my people... my family...”

The Supreme remained indifferent, his expression unchanged.

”If you had not been so stubborn,” he replied calmly, ”and handed over the treasure as requested... none of this would have happened.”

The old man’s body trembled, but not from fear.

”I was a fool,” he said bitterly. ”A fool to trust you... to think you are actually one of them...”

His eyes burned with defiance.

”You Damn Eternal Watchers!! I will never let you obtain what you seek.”

At those words, a flicker of urgency appeared in the Supreme’s gaze.

”What did you do?” he demanded, his voice turning cold. ”Where is the treasure?”

The old man slowly lifted his head, a faint, almost mocking smile forming on his lips.

”You are too late...”

Before he could finish—

The Supreme moved.

In an instant, he appeared before the old man, his hand gripping the elder’s throat and lifting him effortlessly from the ground. Without hesitation, he forced his will into the man’s mind, brutally probing his memories.

The old man convulsed, his body trembling as his thoughts were torn apart.

Minutes later, the entire facility was engulfed in flames, everything within reduced to ash.

The Supreme rose back into the sky, hovering above the ruined planet as his expression darkened with irritation.

”To think he sent it to the auction...” he muttered coldly. ”That damn old fool...”

He immediately accessed the Virtual Palace, sending out inquiries to several of his fellow associates. The replies came quickly, but none offered a solution. No one was willing to interfere with the auction. The reason was simple—the entire system operated under the watchful eyes of godly beings.

Left with no alternative, he shifted his approach.

Funds were prepared without hesitation, but as he reviewed the auction details more closely, his expression darkened. The item had been placed under strict requirements, turning what should have been a straightforward purchase into something uncertain.

From within his VIP chamber, he observed the participants below. Dozens had already stepped forward, all drawn by the same prize,

The Sun and Moon Discs.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

”I will obtain those items... no matter the cost,”

Standing beside him, his assistant bowed with confidence.

”Do not worry, Lord Hose. Mistress Infinity is present”

The name alone carried weight.

Mistress Infinity was not only part of their organization, but also a renowned Spirit Path champion. With her participation—and his own—there was little reason to doubt the outcome.

Then the test began.

[You have 10 minutes]

Within the isolated chamber, Hose stood before the replicated discs.

Although reaching the Supreme realm granted immense power, Hose understood that it did not guarantee superior mastery over such treasure. Artifacts like this demanded deep insight.

Fortunately, he had spent months getting close to the old researcher, observing the artifacts. That accumulated knowledge now became his greatest advantage.

With controlled focus, he guided his power into the discs.

Flames surged first—intense, destructive, and dominant.

Then came frost—calm, suppressive, and equally absolute.

Instead of allowing the two forces to clash, Hose carefully intertwined them, maintaining a delicate equilibrium between opposing elements. The discs responded, their rotation stabilizing as their aura deepened under his refined control.

Moments later, the system displayed his result.

[Artifact Efficiency: 32%]

Hose frowned slightly.

The number was lower than he had expected, but it was still strong—far beyond what most could achieve in such a short time.

Then he received a message,

Mistress Infinity gained 30%

A faint smile formed on his face.

Even the renowned Spirit Path champion had fallen short of him.

With that, his confidence solidified. There was no reason to doubt the outcome anymore.

He would win.

But that certainty lasted only a heartbeat.

A new number appeared.

[Artifact Efficiency: 35%]

The supreme expression froze.

His smile disappeared instantly, replaced by a surge of disbelief and anger.

”Who... was it?”

The air around him seemed to tighten as his fury rose.

”Who dare took my treasure!!!”
