Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2892: Auction 5

Spirit weapons had always been the domain of those with overwhelming soul power, and in that regard, Emery possessed a real advantage. Yet despite this, he had never truly invested time into mastering such weapons.

His recent string of seventy duels had made that painfully clear.

Emery found himself relying too much on brute strength—overwhelming force, direct clashes, and raw power to crush his opponents. While effective, it had also made his fighting style increasingly predictable.

He was no longer as versatile as he once had been.

That realization lingered in his mind as he stared at the final item displayed on the stage.

With his top-grade tier-six Chroma Circle Ring destroyed during the Astiel battle, Emery had already felt the absence of a proper spirit weapon. Now, seeing what floated before him, that absence became impossible to ignore.

”I must be crazy to covet this...” he muttered quietly, yet his eyes did not leave the display.

Inside the glass case hovered two palm-sized discs—one radiant gold, the other shimmering silver. They moved in slow orbit around each other, their energies intertwining yet never colliding, like opposing forces held in perfect balance. The aura they emitted was not overwhelming in a violent sense, but deep and profound, carrying a strange sense of harmony that drew Emery in.

The Sun Shifting Discs

The Moon Folding Disc.

Each disc, on its own, was a top-grade tier-seven flying spirit weapon, but together they formed a paired system whose combined power could rival a low-grade tier-eight artifact. More importantly, they were practical—versatile, precise, and capable of striking from angles no conventional weapon could match.

Emery let out a slow breath.

As much as he desired the treasure, he knew the reality—a top-grade tier-seven weapon alone would already demand an enormous price, let alone a pair. No matter how he calculated it, he simply did not have the funds to compete.

Yet just as he began to let go of the thought, the auctioneer’s next words halted him.

Like the previous special item, this treasure came with an unusual condition.

The owner, whose identity remained undisclosed, was said to be a researcher—someone who had studied the artifact extensively but had yet to fully uncover its secrets. Rather than selling it for profit, the man had chosen a different approach.

”The Sun and Moon Discs,” the auctioneer announced, ”are a profoundly mysterious artifact. The owner wishes to pass them on to a destined individual.”

A brief pause followed before he continued.

”The price... is two thousand palace points.”

For a moment, the entire hall fell silent.

Then the shock spread like a wave.

More than five hundred grand magus sat in the hall, yet nearly all of them reacted at once. A pair of top-grade tier-seven spirit weapons, priced at only two thousand palace points—it was simply unbelievable.

However, the condition came immediately after.

”To participate, one must possess at least Level 5 mastery in the Spirit Path. In addition, all candidates must undergo a test to determine compatibility with the artifact.”

The word destined suddenly carried weight.

This was no longer a simple auction.

Emery rose to his feet almost instinctively, his interest impossible to suppress.

Yet just as quickly, suspicion crept into his thoughts.

To place such a treasure in an auction, with such specific requirements... something about it felt unusual.

Beside him, Klea’s expression showed that she had reached the same conclusion.

Still, the auctioneer continued, clarifying the final details.

”All interested participants will undergo the test openly,” he said. ”However, the identity of the final winner will remain confidential.”

That condition changed everything.

Emery’s hesitation lasted only a moment.

Then, without further doubt, he chose to join the bid.

Although fewer than a thousand grand magus had reached Stage 5 of the Cosmic Bridge and above, the number present at this auction was still significant.

Thrity-two participants stepped forward, each drawn by the opportunity to obtain the rare spirit weapon. At first, there was excitement in the air, with several of them standing confidently, clearly believing their mastery was enough to claim the treasure.

That confidence did not last long.

From the VIP chambers above, a soft glow began to appear. One lantern lit up, then another, and soon a third followed. The shift in atmosphere was immediate as realization set in—they would not only be competing against fellow grand magus, but also against Supreme beings.

Whispers spread quickly among the participants, and even a few names were mentioned, including a renowned Spirit Path champion whose reputation alone was enough to intimidate others. The pressure became tangible, weighing down on the group like an invisible force.

For a brief moment, Emery felt it as well.

But it did not last. Beside him, Klea’s quiet support helped clear his mind, allowing him to refocus.

Emery’s gaze sharpened once more.

”Let the test begin,” the auctioneer announced.

The space around them distorted instantly.

In the next moment, Emery found himself standing in a completely different environment. The vast auction hall had vanished, replaced by a sealed chamber that was both silent and empty. In front of him floated a perfect replica of the Sun and Moon Discs.

Each participant had been isolated, leaving them alone with the artifact and their own ability.

A message appeared before his eyes.

[You have 10 minutes]

The time limit was short. Yet as Emery extended his senses toward the discs, he quickly noticed there were no restrictions placed on them.

The system treated the artifact as if it had already been fully refined, allowing him to bypass the usual process entirely.

A quiet sense of relief passed through him.

Without hesitation, Emery released his soul power, letting it flow outward and envelop the two discs. At first, they trembled slightly under his influence, as though resisting his control, but that resistance did not last long. Under the pressure of his will, both the golden and silver discs slowly yielded and rose into the air.

Within moments, a change began to take place.

[You have activated: First Form – Soaring Blades]

The discs started to rotate, their speed gradually increasing until their edges blurred into streaks of light. From their rims, sharp blade-like extensions emerged, transforming them into deadly spinning weapons.

Emery guided them forward.

The two discs moved in perfect coordination, one sweeping in from the left while the other curved from the right, their trajectories forming smooth, intersecting arcs.

Targets began to appear across the chamber.

Dozens of puppet constructs materialized, scattered in different positions.

The discs surged forward, cutting through the air with incredible speed. One sliced cleanly through a puppet before curving upward, while the other darted low, carving through multiple targets in a single motion.

Silver and gold streaks filled the chamber, weaving together in a controlled yet relentless assault.

Within moments, every target had been destroyed.

For a brief second, Emery allowed himself to feel satisfied with the result.

Then the system message appeared.

[Targets destroyed: Attack Force – 350]

[Artifact Efficiency: 4%]

The satisfaction disappeared instantly.

Emery stared at the message, unable to hide his shock.

Only four percent.

”...”

Emery steadied himself, forcing his mind to calm.

There was no time to dwell on the result.
