Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2483: Identity

”Fey wolf!... You are from the Fey Clan!”

The words hit Emery like a thunderclap. His glowing eyes narrowed, and his chest tightened as he processed what the assassin had just said.

Fey Clan!

Few in the Magus Universe even knew of its existence, let alone could identify him as part of it. His shock was palpable, but it was quickly replaced with resolve. Whoever these assassins were, they knew something, and Emery intended to find out more.

Determined, Emery shifted his stance, his muscles coiling with latent power. He was ready to strike, to subdue and interrogate one of them before they could escape. But before he could act, the assassins regrouped. Their leader barked sharp commands, and even Stoltzʼs intense clash with him abruptly ceased.

”Why did you stop?! Kill him!!” Baldoniʼs enraged shout echoed through the battlefield. The alchemistʼs desperation was plain in his trembling voice.

The assassin leader ignored him for a moment, his sharp gaze locked onto Emeryʼs form. Distress shadowed his expression as he addressed Emery directly. ”We didnʼt know about your real identity… If we had, we would have never taken this job.”

Emeryʼs ears perked at the statement, his mind racing with possibilities.

What do they know? What is this connection to my bloodline?

Baldoni, however, refused to let hesitation cloud his mission. ”Iʼll double the payment! Go! Finish the job!!” he screamed, his voice breaking with urgency.

The assassin leader hesitated, but the battlefield around him gave him no reprieve. Stoltz, a relentless force, had just slammed one of the leaderʼs men into the ground with such ferocity that the assassinʼs body lay motionless. Whether dead or alive, his fate was clear—he was out of the fight. The other assassin leaped back in retreat, his fear evident.

”Leader! What should we do?” one of the remaining assassins shouted, his voice trembling.

The leaderʼs jaw tightened

”We canʼt retreat now... The Monarch will not forgive us...”

Turning to his men, he barked his orders: ”All of you, attack! Iʼll hold Stoltz!”

Baldoniʼs face lit up with twisted glee. ”Good! Yes, kill him! Kill that mutt!!”

For Emery, the situation was becoming increasingly precarious. The mention of the Fey Clan had ignited a burning need for answers, but the four assassins advancing on him left little room for interrogation. Each was a Grand Magus expert, their power and precision unmatched by most. Emery tightened his grip on his Savage Sword, the weaponʼs black blade glinting ominously in the chaotic light of the battlefield.

He didnʼt hesitate. Emery activated his [Immortal Gate], surging to stage 9, and unleashed his innate [Battle Roar], a primal bellow that rippled across the battlefield like thunder. His battle power soared to 1500, a mark equal to that of a cosmic stage 2 expert.

BAMMM!!!!

The clash was explosive.

Emeryʼs Three Mountain Axes Strike collided with the assassinsʼ blades, the force of each swing reverberating through the air like a series of cannon blasts. Sparks flew, and the ground beneath their feet cracked and crumbled under the pressure.

The assassins, however, were relentless. Their strikes were impossibly fast, their coordination flawless, forcing Emery to rely on his spatial bending to escape being cornered. The shimmering distortions in the air around him baffled his attackers, their movements faltering as they struggled to anticipate where he would reappear. řâＮốΒΕS

From a safe distance, Baldoni screamed in frustration, his voice cracking under the strain of his fury. ”What are you doing?! Are you joking around?! Why canʼt you kill that dirty dog?!”

Baldoni himself tried to join the fray, but Emeryʼs Shadow Flame Bees swarmed him, their fiery bodies devouring the remnants of his proud Undying Flames. The alchemist was forced to retreat, shouting curses as he fought to keep the insects at bay.

After a dozen clashes, Emery began to understand his opponentsʼ strengths and weaknesses. He observed the way their movements flowed together, the subtle signals they exchanged, and the gaps in their defenses that appeared in fleeting moments.

His chance came in the blink of an eye. One of the assassins overextended, leaving a small but critical opening. Without hesitation, Emery charged, his Savage Sword glowing with an ominous black aura.

In a flash, Emery activated [Spectral Gaze], his eyes glowing with otherworldly light. The targeted assassin froze, his body paralyzed as the technique overwhelmed his senses.

With precision honed through countless battles, Emery swung his blade in a deadly arc. The strike cleaved through the assassinʼs torso, cutting him cleanly in half. Blood sprayed across the ground as the lifeless halves of the assassinʼs body collapsed in a heap.

Despite the loss of another member, the assassin group did not falter. They were professional killers, unshaken by the growing body count or the brutal ferocity of their target. Emery, however, felt the weight of his earlier opening—the backlash from his calculated maneuver. His body bore the evidence of their coordinated strikes.

HOWWWL!!

A chilling cry escaped his lips as multiple cosmic-fueled blades struck him simultaneously. The sharp edges sliced through his armor and flesh, but fortunately, his Twilight Form granted him innate magical resistance, dulling some of the damage. Even so, the pain was excruciating, searing through his body like molten steel.

This time, Emery didnʼt dodge. Instead, he made a ruthless decision.

He allowed the assassinsʼ blades to pierce deeper, the metallic clang of their weapons echoing as they struck bone. Blood seeped from his wounds, staining the ground beneath him. The assassins momentarily hesitated, their eyes widening as Emeryʼs body seemed to absorb the punishment without faltering.

Then, with a savage roar, Emery released his Savage Blade, letting it clatter to the ground. His hands morphed, claws extending as his primal instincts took over. With a sudden, explosive burst of energy, he lashed out, his claws tearing through one of the assassins like a wild beast.

Emery charged forward, pushing the victim in front of him with terrifying force, breaking free of their encirclement. The two bodies hurtled through the air, crashing into a massive boulder.

The impact reverberated across the battlefield, shaking the ground. Emery, ignoring the burning pain coursing through his body, pinned his target against the shattered rock. The assassin struggled desperately, but Emeryʼs raw strength overwhelmed him. With a guttural growl, Emery tore the assassin apart, the sound of ripping flesh and snapping bones echoing through the chaos.

Blood sprayed everywhere, covering Emery in a macabre crimson sheen. His breathing was ragged, his golden eyes glowing with primal fury as he turned to face the remaining two assassins.

For the first time, hesitation flickered in the eyes of his opponents. Their movements faltered, and they exchanged glances, silently weighing their odds against the bloodied, unrelenting predator before them.
