Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2208: Vault Battle 2

The timely appearance of the Golden Roc beast quickly blocked Ravi and the surrounding summoned creatures, its massive body shielding Emery, Tessa, and the injured Lord completely. The ancient desolate beast let out a powerful shriek, unleashing a wind torrent that hurled the summoned creatures away. The force of the wind shattered bones and sent skeletal fragments scattering across the chamber.

Annoyed by his failure, Ravi turned to the grand magus summoner and said, ”Senior, the longer we fight, the less time we have to take all the treasures.”

These words prompted the figure in the dark cape to unleash his true power. He transformed his staff into a terrifying-looking scythe, its massive blade glowing with ominous dark energy—a high-grade tier 7 weapon. With a menacing swing, he aimed to deliver a devastating blow that could heavily harm the Golden Roc.

The summonerʼs eyes blazed with dark energy as he chanted incantations, summoning tendrils of shadow that wrapped around the scythe, enhancing its power. The ground trembled beneath him, and the air crackled with malevolent energy. With a roar, he swung the scythe in a wide arc, a dark crescent of energy slicing through the air toward the Golden Roc.

Fortunately, Commander Starr stepped in, meeting the attack with a powerful sword strike. The clash of their weapons sent shockwaves reverberating through the entire vault. Sparks flew as the energy from their attacks collided, illuminating the chamber in bursts of light and shadow.

The two continued to fight, leaving the defensive task fully to the Golden Roc. Within less than a minute, dozens of skeletal creatures swarmed the massive bird, their claws, teeth, and rusty swords slashing at the beast while the giants restrained their movements. The Golden Rocʼs claws and beak were powerful enough to crush skeletons apart, but within seconds, the shattered bones reformed and the creatures rejoined the fray.

This was the advantage of summoned creatures: unless the summoner was killed, they would continue to respawn. To make things worse, the twenty death magus corpses rose up and added to their numbers, their eyes glowing with eerie, unnatural light.

”CAAWKK!!!” The giant bird shrieked in pain, blood spilling like rain as its body was pierced from all directions. The skeletal warriors clung to its wings, tearing at its feathers, while the giants held its limbs, preventing it from retaliating effectively. The once-majestic creature was now a desperate defender, its shrieks of agony echoing through the vault.

Emery could only hope to finish the concoction as soon as possible and join the fight. However, he found the toxin to be more deadly than he had previously thought; it was, after all, a product unleashed by a grand magus with high proficiency in poison.

[Potency strength 38%]

[Failure to cleanse Toxin]

”Dammit!! One more time!!” Emery muttered, his frustration evident as he frantically worked on another antidote.

The same struggle was evident among the others. Both Grand Magus Starr and Nayef were visibly weakening with each passing second as the poison slowly spread through their bodies. Lord Hassa, already compromised by his previous wound from the duel with Xavier, found his recovery even more challenging. The man could not even speak, sweat running down his cheek as he tried his best to recover.

Emery worked diligently, his hands a blur as he mixed ingredients, ground herbs, and infused the concoction with his spirit energy. The sounds of battle raged around him—the clash of weapons, the cries of the wounded, and the roars of summoned creatures created a cacophony that threatened to break his concentration.

Minutes felt like hours, but Emery finally created an upgraded version of the antidote. He quickly assessed its potency:

[Potency strength 46%]

[Shows slight effect against the Toxin]

It wasnʼt perfect, but it was an improvement.

However, the situation had turned much worse. Emery, who was linked to the giant bird through their enslavement runes, could sense the bird was at the end of its life. He considered summoning Morgana or Livi to help but decided against it. The grand magus-level battle in such a confined space was too risky for them.

The situation was critical, and Emery decided to finalize his concoction, forming several pills. He swiftly consumed one and gave the other two to Tessa and Lord Hassa. ř𝓪𝐍Ỗ𝐁ËŜ

Knowing Emeryʼs identity as an Apothecary master, the Karat Lord consumed the pill. Unfortunately, Emery didnʼt know how much or how long the pill would affect Lord Hassaʼs recovery. Meanwhile, he needed to quickly hand out the pill to the two grand magus and swiftly take the dying giant bird back to his aperture.

At the same time, Emeryʼs actions finally drew the full attention of the powerful Isaiah.

”No more playing around!” Isaiahʼs voice was filled with menace as he unleashed the full extent of his cosmic power. A dozen ominous-looking daggers materialized around him, each one glowing with a sinister energy. With a flick of his wrist, the daggers flew through the air, breaking through the spirit masterʼs defenses.

Half of the daggers managed to pass through, some headed toward the Grand Magus commander and others toward Emery and Lord Hassa. The deadly projectiles sliced through the air with terrifying speed.

Emery stepped up, his heart pounding but his resolve unwavering. He unleashed the Khaos power, his arm casting the [Aegis of Void] to create a barrier. The barrier shimmered with dark energy, intercepting the incoming daggers. Unfortunately, the barrier wasnʼt strong enough to hold against Isaiahʼs cosmic power and broke apart. But it was enough to buy him time to cast [spatial bending], bending the trajectory of the daggers.

The daggers curved mid-air, their lethal paths redirected. Emeryʼs eyes blazed with determination as he unleashed his [Immortal Gate Stage 9], his body surging with immense power. He raised the [Embernight Sword], its dark steel burning with Khaos flame.

CLANK! CLANK!!

The daggers clashed against the Embernight Sword, sparks flying as the blade parried the deadly projectiles. The force of the impact reverberated through Emeryʼs arms, but he held firm, his grip unwavering.

His palm was bleeding as he successfully broke one… and two of the daggers. Unfortunately, the last one changed its target to the massive bird instead.

”NO!!” Emeryʼs voice was a desperate shout. He tried his best to pull the massive beast back into his domain. However, with the Golden Rocʼs wounds and the skeletal creatures crawling all over its body, the bird couldnʼt move fast enough.

Emery could only helplessly watch as the dagger flew and pierced the birdʼs head with a sickening crunch, the blade embedding itself deep into the skull.

CAWWKK!!!

The beast shrieked its last breath, a heart-wrenching cry that echoed through the vault. Blood poured from the wound, and the majestic creatureʼs eyes dulled as life slipped away.

Emery did not have the time and the luxury to mourn the giant bird as the Golden King Roc was not the only casualty of the brutal attacks.

Tessaʼs scream pierced through the noise, and Emeryʼs gaze snapped to Commander Starr, who had valiantly intercepted the daggers. But now, he was on his knees, blood pouring from a grievous wound inflicted by the summonerʼs scythe. The blade had cleaved through armor and flesh, leaving the commander helpless.

In a swift, merciless motion, the grand magus summoner swung his scythe again. The commanderʼs head was severed cleanly from his body, and it rolled away as his lifeless form collapsed. The brutal execution left Tessa in hysterics.

”NO!!!”

The grand magus summoner showed a victorious smile before instructing all his minions to finish the job. However, at that moment, Emery witnessed the commanderʼs spirit form rise from the fallen body. With a final act of defiance, he self-destructed in a brilliant flash of light and energy.

KABOOOMM!!!

The explosion sent shockwaves through the vault, severely wounding the Grand Magus summoner and obliterating many of his summoned creatures. The smoke and debris from the blast filled the air, obscuring vision and adding to the chaos.

In the chaos of the aftermath, Emery felt a primal surge within him, and as he tapped into the deepest reserves of his power—the star-devoured beast that lay dormant within him stirred to life. Its presence surged through his veins, its immense strength and ferocity ready to be unleashed.

His body began to shift and change, muscles bulging, and his senses sharpening. The transformation was swift and intense, his human form giving way to a formidable, otherworldly beast.

[Primal Transformation]

HOWLLL!!!

Ravi, managing to escape the blast, believed it was his defining moment. The death of the beast and the grand magus commander fueled him with courage and confidence as he leaped into the billowing smoke.

Hoping to locate the vulnerable Tessa or Lord Hassa and seize his opportunity, he plunged ahead.

Instead, he was stunned to see a ten-meter-tall wolf-beast standing before him, its presence emitting a terrifying growl.

”No... wait... I...”

Before he could react, the creatureʼs massive arms swung, smashing into Raviʼs body with devastating force, shattering his bones and killing him instantly.
