Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1261: The News That Shook the Main Fleet (1)

After hearing about the entire events, the Myth of Inferno, Myth of Thunder, and the other members of the vanguard fleet became speechless, especially both Quasi-Myths, since this whole scenario was out of their wildest imaginations.

Only Jacob’s eyes remained indifferent beneath the hood, ‘Well, the cat is out of the bag now. Now the entire vanguard knows that the Death Lord had a mysterious teacher, that the target is connected to an unknown terrifying existence, and that the existence had forced the Undead Skyfall to retreat. The situation has changed.’

Jacob’s eyes flickered coldly without any hint of frustration or panic, ‘But for me, this is still acceptable. Because fear made people gather, and gathered people are easier to harvest!’

—

Soon, the report from the vanguard fleet was transmitted to the main fleet, and the connection to the outside was growing stronger without the Undead Skyfall Canyons’ interference.

Within the flagship outside the deepest death mist, the high-ranking members of the Mythical Coalition received the survivor testimony, battlefield recordings, and aura residue analysis from the vanguard.

The result was silence.

Inside the strategic command hall, the Myth of Oracle sat motionlessly, her featureless mask facing the projection. The golden-white pentagram on the mask rotated slowly, but the rhythm was no longer as calm as before.

Myth of Inferno’s projection stood before her, while Myth of Thunder remained at his side with a dark expression, and Jacob behind silently observing, without any presence at all.

The survivor’s voice replayed through the chamber.

“The Death Lord called him teacher…”

The projection changed, and, surprisingly, a reconstructed image appeared: a hooded figure in a dark windbreaker, the Death Lord kneeling, the broken battlefield, the absence of the Undead Lich King, and, finally, the retreat of the undead armies.

They had almost reconstructed 50% of the scenario using the survivors’ memories and the Mythical Coalition’s powerful magical technology, except for the Divine Descent of the Undead Skyfall and the clash with Jacob. The secrets of the divine were not something mere mortals could understand.

Nonetheless, even that was enough to paint an entire terrifying picture, and no one spoke for several breaths.

Finally, one of the Quasi-Myths, the Myth of Alchemy, said in disbelief, “What is going on exactly? First, we just found out that, except for ‘purifying’ the Undead Skyfall Canyons, we not only have to rescue a mere Legendary King State known as the Death Lord, but now this guy even has such backing?”

Another Quasi-Myth, the Myth of Venom, muttered, “Not just that, this person forced the Undead Skyfall Canyons to retreat, then what level is he exactly? Didn’t he achieve the same result alone that we are aiming to achieve in the first place? And what exactly is so special about this Death Lord character?”

“Could he be some ancient entity sealed within the Sagittarius like the Undead Skyfall Canyons?”

“No, if he was, and the Death Lord shouldn’t be his disciple, and why did he appear only now?”

Countless questions and doubts started to fill the room, but no answers came as the Myth of Oracle remained silent. In truth, this news had exceeded her expectations.

Their target had been the Death Lord because of her curse magic, and possibly the Cursed One, whom the Myth of Reverend’s hidden backers wanted. But now, a new figure had appeared, a figure strong enough to treat the Death Lord as a disciple, and who had confronted the Undead Skyfall and left safely.

Moreover, this mysterious figure no one had accounted for, and this was no longer a simple hunt; it might not even be a war they could control.

Lastly, she can no longer hide the truth from the other Quasi-Myths about their true objective, and the illusion that the Myth of Reverend had created was starting to fall apart on its own.

At that moment, the chamber doors opened, and A warm voice rang before the person even entered.

“My, my, why is everyone wearing such long faces?”

The atmosphere instantly changed. The Myth of Reverend walked into the command hall with his usual gentle smile. His robes were immaculate, his eyes bright, and his demeanor relaxed, as if he had come to attend a tea party instead of a war council.

Yet the Myth of Oracle immediately noticed something: the smile was there, and the tone was there, even the harmless warmth was there, but his eyes were deeply serious.

‘He knew!’ The Myth of Oracle thought.

The Myth of Oracle wasn’t a fool and instantly thought that the Myth of Reverend had clearly known something before this report arrived, for the latter was the one who had given her the exact coordinates of the survivors’ whereabouts without further explanation and told her to investigate them.

Now, with a casual appearance, without even a hint of surprise, this confirmed the Myth of Oracle’s suspicion, and she didn’t like being kept in the dark the least bit.

The Myth of Reverend naturally didn’t care about the Myth of Oracle’s displeasure and cold glare she was giving him as he casually looked at the projection of the hooded figure in the dark windbreaker. His smile did not change, but his vertical pupils narrowed ever so slightly.

‘So, Nell didn’t lie. The survivor testimony, the battlefield residue, and the Undead Skyfall’s retreat all confirmed the same thing. The mysterious teacher existed, and if Nell’s hidden proof is accurate, this teacher is not merely connected to the Cursed One. He is the true target…this is indeed unprecedented!’

The Myth of Reverend’s thought turned cold as he had expected danger, and expected resistance, even expected interference from the Undead Skyfall, but he had not expected the target to be strong enough to casually erase the Undead Lich King and then vanish after taking the original suspect away.

More importantly, he had not expected the target to move so close to the Mythical Coalition’s operation without leaving a usable trail.

The Myth of Reverend thought with a fake warm and unmoving smile, ‘The sudden surge of that Divine Power has been accounted for. Now the real question is, where are you, Cursed One?!’
