Esper Harem in the Apocalypse

Chapter 1161: The Entourage , Unfortunate Janitor

With the human military thoroughly thoroughly scrubbed of their armor, dignity, and weapons, the grand driveway of the Orcelona Keep was finally peaceful. Rudy stood on the balcony, looking out over his domain.

He had decided that since his outdoor picnics kept getting rudely interrupted by cosmic parasites, human politicians, and reality-bending bureaucrats, it was time for a proper change of scenery.

He was going to take a vacation. And not just any vacation, but an interdimensional getaway to the most exclusive, hyper-luxurious resort dimension in the cosmos.

When Thaddues came in, Rudy read his memories and found many interesting things he didn’t know about. The resort dimension was one of the many things.

”Lu Bela,” Rudy called out softly.

A holographic avatar of Lu Bela appeared from one of the nearby drones.

”Yes, my Lord? The human governments are currently undergoing a massive political crisis trying to explain why three thousand soldiers are walking back to their bases in their underwear. How may I assist you?”

”Pack a bag,” Rudy said with a relaxed smile. ”I’m taking everyone to a five-star resort dimension. Would you like to come along? You’ve been working around the clock.”

Lu Bela looked genuinely touched, her digital eyes flickering softly. However, she gave a neat, apologetic bow. ”I am deeply honored by the invitation, my Lord. However, someone must remain behind to guard the Orcelona Keep. Furthermore, I am currently managing three separate geopolitical campaigns to destabilize the remaining human coalitions, rewriting the castle’s thermal energy distribution grid, and running an automated defensive sweep of the lower atmospheric sectors. I must respectfully decline.”

”Always a workaholic,” Rudy chuckled, shaking his head. ”Alright, keep an eye on the place. I’ll bring you back a souvenir.”

”Have a wonderful time, my Lord,” she smiled before fading back into the castle network.

An hour later, the grand lobby of the castle was packed with Rudy’s massive entourage. Alice was happily holding a beach bag, Erika was casually tossing a dagger into the air with an eager grin, Eleanor was adjusting her sun hat with absolute elegance.

Jessica and Rebecca were sharing a laugh near the staircase, while Rize, Maria, Ruby, and Reina were busy double-checking their luggage, chatting excitedly about the prospect of a crystal-clear cosmic beach.

And then, there was Janet.

Janet stood completely still in the middle of the crowded lobby, clutching a small canvas backpack. Unlike the others, she was completely, blissfully unaware of Rudy’s true identity as a god-tier reality-warping Overlord.

She hadn’t seen the sky turn beige, she hadn’t seen the human military get erased, and she certainly didn’t know about the cosmic parasites.

”Rudy, are you sure we don’t need to rent a... van?” Janet asked, looking around the massive lobby with wide, innocent eyes. ”A resort sounds lovely, but isn’t it a bit far? The local travel agency said the mountain springs take at least two days to reach by horse.”

Alice and Elena shared a quiet, amused look.

”Do not worry, Janet,” Rudy said smoothly, walking over to pat her head. ”I found a shortcut. We’ll be there in a few seconds.”

”A shortcut? Oh, a hidden teleportation artifact! How extravagant,” Janet mused, completely rationalizing it into normal, high-level mortal magic.

Nearby, a heavy tapping sound echoed across the stone floor. Rudy turned his head to see Safalius standing near the grand entrance.

The wingless angel-turned-janitor was leaning heavily on his god-tier wooden mop, his eyes wide and practically vibrating with desperate anticipation. He looked at the beach bags, the sun hats, and the joyful atmosphere of a looming vacation.

Safalius shifted his weight from foot to foot, clearing his throat loudly. ’Surely,’ the former supreme herald of the cosmos thought, ’surely the Overlord will recognize my incredible service today. I literally mopped a trillion-dollar military task force out of existence to preserve his driveway. I deserve a beach trip.’

He caught Rudy’s eye and gave a sharp, eager nod, practically begging for the invite with his gaze.

Rudy walked over to him, stopping right at the edge of the spotless driveway. Safalius held his breath, a spark of hope flaring in his chest.

”You did an excellent job cleaning up the mud today, Safalius,” Rudy announced, his voice cool and authoritative.

”Thank you, my Lord!” Safalius squeaked, puffing out his chest. ”I live to serve the cleanliness of this empire!”

”Good,” Rudy smiled casually. ”Keep up the hard work while I’m gone. Make sure you get to the upper balconies by this evening. Work well, and I promise you’ll get a day off some day.”

Safalius’s jaw dropped. The spark of hope in his chest instantly withered away, replaced by the crushing weight of eternal janitorial labor. ”A... a day off... some day...”

”That’s the spirit,” Rudy said, turning back to the girls.

Safalius slumped against his mop, staring blankly at the floor as his soul practically left his body. He was a supreme celestial being, and he had just been hit with the ultimate middle-management corporate deflection.

Rudy raised his hand and casually tore open a massive, shimmering golden portal right in the middle of the lobby.

Beyond the swirling vortex, a breathtaking view of a hyper-luxurious, crystal-blue ocean and towering, obsidian-glass hotels spanning across a beautiful alien archipelago could be seen. The ambient air floating through the portal smelled faintly of tropical flowers and pure, concentrated luxury.

”Let’s go, everyone,” Rudy instructed.

”Wow, that’s a very realistic illusion!” Janet cheered, entirely convinced the portal was just a fancy magic trick as she stepped right through it alongside Alice, Erika, and the rest of the girls.

Rudy stepped through last, closing the rift behind him and leaving a profoundly depressed Safalius to slowly, mechanically push his mop across the empty castle floor.

The entourage materialized on a massive, pristine white-marble pier extending out over the glowing alien water.

The resort dimension was stunning, bathed in the light of three distant, colorful moons. However, before they could even take ten steps toward the grand entrance of the hyper-luxurious resort, three figures floated down to block their path.

They were celestial elites. Snobby, arrogant beings with flowing silver hair and glowing silk robes, looking down their noses at the newly arrived group.

”Halt, travelers,” the lead manager sneered, flicking an invisible speck of dust off his robe as he eyed Rudy’s large group with distaste. ”This is the BlueRings Cosmic Sanctuary. We do not allow dirty, unrefined mortals to loiter on our private shores. Turn back immediately, or our elite security force will forcefully eject you.”

Rudy let out a slow, deeply amused chuckle, his dark eyes locking onto the arrogant manager. His vacation had barely started, and someone was already asking for a hostile takeover.
