Starting From A Son In Law To Build An Long Lasting Family

Chapter 45: Blind Date With The Second Lady

In Qingzhu Valley.

In an antique, exquisite and elegant small building.

“Father, how could you arrange for me to marry that Lu Changsheng?”

“You know very well that Lu Changsheng is an inveterate womanizer. Not only has he married nine women from our Lu family, but he also brings in more women from outside!”

“I heard that he recently went out and brought back two more flirtatious women. How could you marry me to such a man?”

A cold and charming woman of eighteen or nineteen years old, with a beautiful face, wearing a black silk dress, glared at the Lu Family patriarch with an angry expression.

“Huan’er, although Lu Changsheng is quite amorous, he is otherwise a good man. He is a simple man. He treats his wife and concubines very well and is very considerate and caring.”

“Moreover, just yesterday, Lu Changsheng was promoted to a First Level Mid-grade Talisman Master!”

“He has only been with our Lu Family for more than four years, and has been studying talisman making for only three and a half years.”

“In those three and a half years, our Lu family has not even spent much money or effort on training and teaching him.”
“Under such circumstances, the fact that he can become a first-level medium-grade talisman master so quickly shows that he is extremely talented in making talismans, far surpassing your Elder Sister!”

“If all goes well, he will most likely be able to become a Second Level Talisman master in the future. If you were to marry him, it would give me peace of mind.”

Lu Yuanding earnestly tried to persuade his daughter.

After the previous clan meeting, he had the idea to marry his daughter Lu Miaohuan to Lu Changsheng, and the more he thought about it, the more feasible it seemed.

So after the meeting, he went to his daughter’s residence to discuss the matter, hoping to convince her to marry Lu Changsheng.

“First-level medium-grade Talisman Master!?”

Upon hearing this, Lu Miaohuan’s beautiful eyes widened in surprise.

As a young lady of the Lu family, and with her own sisters being Talisman masters, she naturally understood how remarkable it was for Lu Changsheng to have become a first-class mid-level Talisman master in such a short time.

To call him a genius in Talisman making would not be an exaggeration.

No wonder her father wanted her to marry Lu Changsheng.

In the future, if Lu Changsheng could truly become a second-tier Talisman master, his status would be that of a valued guest wherever he went.

Even if he could not reach the second tier, being a first tier Talisman master would still be an extraordinary achievement.

She knew that the Fourth Elder who had taught her sisters the talisman making was a top-tier, first-rank Talisman master, and he was able to bring the Lu family substantial profits every year, which was a position of great status.

However, when she remembered Lu Changsheng’s various exploits and the lecherous look he had given her when they first met, she felt deeply uncomfortable and unwilling.

Seeing the reluctance on his daughter’s face, Lu Yuanding sighed and continued to persuade her.

“Huan’er, your mother died at a young age, and I haven’t been very involved in your life. I haven’t really said much to you before, but in this matter, I really have your best interests at heart and hope that you will listen to me.” ȐἈ₦ОᛒЕS̈

“Now that Lu Changsheng has become a First level Mid-grade Talisman master, in addition to his good behavior over the years, our Lu family has decided to marry him to a young woman with Spirit Root in order to truly integrate him into our family.”

“Many of the elders and clan members want to marry their granddaughters to Lu Changsheng, but your opportunity here is one I’ve fought for.”

“You’re not getting any younger, so it’s time to start thinking about this aspect of your life,”

Lu Yuanding said with a sigh, no longer speaking as the patriarch of the Lu family, but as a father.

If only his daughter Lu Miaohuan could be as hardworking and promising as his daughter Lu Miaoge, he wouldn’t have to worry about her marital affairs.

After all, cultivators often did not get married, so this was a relatively normal and common occurrence.

“But Lu Changsheng only has a ninth-rank Spirit Root, and he already has so many wives and concubines…”

Lu Miaohuan said as she pursed her lips.

She was surprised to learn that this opportunity was one that her father had fought for. But upon further reflection, she could understand the reasoning behind it.

There were over a hundred members of the Lu family on Qingzhu Mountain.

Although these family members had spiritual roots, the reality was that most of them had limited future prospects and little hope of reaching the stage of Foundation Establishment.

When they came of age, many of them would be arranged by the clan to marry into other cultivator families in order to maintain a steady flow of new blood.

Lu Changsheng entered the Lu Family as a son-in-law and has been living in the Lu Family. He has performed well and can be considered half of the Lu Family.

Now that he has shown such a talent for making talismans, the elders in the clan are naturally very happy to marry a woman with spiritual roots to Lu Changsheng and completely bind Lu Changsheng to the Lu Family.

“His ninth-rank Spirit Root doesn’t matter. With Lu Changsheng’s Talisman master talent, as long as our Lu family is willing to nurture him, even if he is unable to reach Foundation Establishment, he still has hope of cultivating to the late stages of Qi Refinement,”

“Even a second-tier Talisman master at the late stage of Qi Refinement would still command a certain amount of respect, even from Foundation Establishment cultivators.”

“As for the issue of wives and concubines, you don’t need to worry about it. Lu Changsheng’s current wives and concubines are all ordinary women.”

“If you marry him, you will naturally become his first wife. Besides, with me here, how could I let you be wronged in any way?”

Seeing that his daughter was no longer so adamant, Lu Yuanding seized the opportunity to move forward.

After listening to her father’s words, Lu Miaohuan pursed her lips but remained silent.

Thinking back to the time she met Lu Changsheng, he didn’t seem to be as despicable as she had originally thought. After all, with her own charm, it would be hard for anyone who saw her not to take a closer look, let alone a notorious womanizer like Lu Changsheng.

Seeing his daughter’s reaction, Lu Yuanding’s face broke into a slight smile, knowing that she had tacitly agreed.

Then he gently said, “Very well, Miaohuan, I’ll invite Lu Changsheng to the Bamboo Heart Pavilion tomorrow so that you two can meet.”

“Mm,” Lu Miaohuan replied quietly.

Meanwhile, in the backyard, Lu Changsheng was playing with the children.

Since he had so many of them now, he had built various toys for them, such as swings, slides, seesaws, trampolines, wooden horses, and toy cars.

At the moment, a group of little ones were lining up to play a flying game with him, as he used his levitation technique to make the children float through the air.

Or perhaps he would let the children sit on the wooden horses or toy cars, and then use his control over objects to guide them through the air, letting the group of little ones play and scream with delight.

Just then, Lu Changsheng heard one of his concubines say that Administrator Lu had come.

He immediately realized that there must be news about his promotion to a First level mid-grade Talisman master.

He had the concubine look after the children, and quickly made his way to the reception hall.

“Uncle Lu,” Lu Changsheng greeted with a slight bow.

“Not bad, not bad at all,” Elder Lu said, nodding approvingly as he looked at Lu Changsheng.

He hadn’t paid much attention to Lu Changsheng before, but now that he took a closer look, the man looked quite handsome and distinguished.

Lu Changsheng was a bit confused by the elder’s warm demeanor.

“Lu Changsheng, the patriarch, has asked you to prepare well, as you are going to Bamboo Heart Pavilion tomorrow for an arranged marriage meeting,” the elder said with a smile.

“What?” Lu Changsheng exclaimed, his expression becoming quite strange.

He had hoped that his achievement of becoming a first-class mid-grade Talisman master would lead to some kind of promotion or treatment within the Lu family.

But he never imagined that the patriarch would arrange a marriage for him.

However, Lu Changsheng quickly realized that this arranged marriage was probably no ordinary matter.

Seeing the look on Lu Changsheng’s face, the elder chuckled, “That’s right. Considering your achievements in becoming a mid-grade Talisman master, as well as your behavior over the years, the patriarch is arranging for you to marry his daughter.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Changsheng was both surprised and delighted. His mind immediately conjured up an image of the aloof and ethereal Miss Lu Miaoge.

But the elder’s next words shattered his fantasy.

“Go see her tomorrow and make a good impression. If you succeed, you’ll truly become part of the family.”

“Didn’t you want to have children with Spirit Roots? The second lady has a sixth-rank Spirit Root, so if you marry her, the children you have together will most likely inherit Spirit Roots as well,” the elder said with a smile.

He had a generally favorable opinion of Lu Changsheng, and now that the Lu family was about to fully incorporate Lu Changsheng as one of their own, the elder had become even more cordial and welcoming towards him, treating him as a true family member.
